One of the best traditional Ethiopian houses in Addis. Everything u can think of u will find it. Variety of Ethiopian ethnic foods and drinks, Entertainment of lots of ethnicity music and some souvenir shops. The dining halls are vast enough to accomodate lots of people whether u have lots of friends or a large family. The foods are good though a bit expensive and the service is great. Recommend to go at night to get z full experience.

This is the first place I have visited to enjoy the Ethiopian Culture and Tradition. First of all, the music! It was great to have such enjoyable time. I loved the tune, and instruments. Food was awesome. Very supportive staffs. Highly recommended.

Great local experience: food drinks, dancing and decoration! Highly recommend this spot for all of these reasons. Also, service is great and prices very reasonable. It's probably worth booking a table in advance. When we went there most of well located tables were "reserved"

Good Ethiopian Traditional Food, non stop cultura & local live music and dance/performance. Good spot for tourists and locals to spend an evening with friends and families. One complaint I have is the sound system could be improved. They are trying to cover the whole room with large speakers from the stage which is too loud.

I think it’s a beautiful place, food is amazing and service is just perfect. To me the best thing in this place is the vibe of happiness, you feel like everyone is just happy. The traditional dances are out of this world all dancers are so talented. The only reason I gave 4 stars is that I though they do need to somehow explain or at least a short narrative about the dances. I feel like all dances are telling a story but of course as a foreigner you won’t understand. I love Ethiopia 🇪🇹

Delicious food and great environment! While it's maybe a bit touristy, most of the place is full of locals enjoying the entertainment. Came here with locals who also enjoyed it. The relatively high prices, still low by western standards, are justified by the great entertainment. Native song with accompanying native dances, one after another, representing the many different subcultural groups within Ethiopia. Food was also delicious. Known for its kitfo, even the other dishes were very full flavored and way better than anything we can get back in DC for sure.

We had a wonderful time of celebration with family and friends at YOD Abyssinia! Excellent attentive service and an amazing show! Great place for large groups and a real slice of Ethiopian Culture. Highly recommend especially if visiting from out of the country.

Yod Abyssinia Traditional Restaurant in Addis Ababa exceeded all expectations, earning my enthusiastic recommendation. The culinary journey was a delight, with each dish boasting authentic flavors that transported me to the heart of Ethiopian gastronomy. The vibrant atmosphere elevated the dining experience, creating a warm and welcoming ambiance. However, what truly sets Yod Abyssinia apart is its commitment to showcasing Ethiopia's cultural diversity. The live performances were a feast for the senses, providing a captivating glimpse into the country's rich traditions through music, dance, and storytelling. From the energetic dances of the Oromo people to the soulful melodies of the Amhara region, every performance was a celebration of Ethiopia's cultural tapestry. The staff's hospitality added a personal touch, enhancing the overall experience. Whether you're a local or a traveler, Yod Abyssinia Traditional Restaurant offers a unique and immersive cultural journey alongside delectable cuisine. This establishment has rightfully earned its place as a gem in Addis Ababa, and I eagerly look forward to returning to savor more of Ethiopia's culinary and cultural wonders.

If you want to try an authentic Ethiopian cuisine and dining experience, it's definitely worth a visit. The food, service and ambience were great. The prices were reasonable too. The coffee was strong and they serve it with popcorn and the smoke effect. The staff were friendly.

A new and delightful experience for us to witness Ethiopian culture, their dance, their music, the local food and the ambience, all in a nutshell. It was pretty packed, but my local Ethiopian friend Mickey helped us get into this place and for that we can't thank him enough. The Injera with the goat meat over the little coal furnace was surprisingly tasty. The black coffee with popcorn as starters were our favourite. We couldn't keep track of the time as the local artistes went on performing their expertise on the stage. It was indeed a memorable experience to be treasured for life.

This is an amazing venue. The traditional / cultural setting is awesome. Staff are friendly, responsive, and fast. The food, though pricy, offers value for money as there is no entrance fee or other charges. The music, musicians, and dancers were fantastic. Oh, and in addition to Ethiopian music, they also played Japanese and Chinese songs! I enjoyed every moment of it.

Their food, service, and customer handling is the best. This place is one of the best traditional restaurants in the city. It is an expensive place but if you are looking for a place to enjoy Ethiopian cuisine, then this is the one for you. No food item is allowed to enter.

My first night in Addis Ababa, I was able to visit this place. Absolutely outstanding. I enjoyed the Ethiopian culture and performance that was on display. Additionally, the service here was great and highly pleasing. This was my introduction to Injera and Ethiopian food. Coming from the USA, the prices were very inexpensive to me. All in all, I love Yod Abyssina. Anyone visiting Addis Ababa for the first, or tenth time, shall always visit this establishment.

Probably among the top 3 traditional restaurants in Ethiopia. The food and the variety on offer is to die for. Serves a really Good Buffet and showcases a very wide variety of traditional Ethiopian food. Good live cultural program with snippets from the various tribes / ethnic groups showcasing their traditional music and dance forms. Always very enjoyable.

I recently visited Yod Abyssinia Traditional Restaurant, and my experience was terrible. The quality of the kitfo and fiyel tibes was particularly bad - the meat was tough, and the portions were small. The service was also very poor - it took an extremely long time for my order to be ready, and the waiter seemed distracted and uninterested in helping me. Furthermore, the restaurant was empty, and the customer service was subpar. Overall, I would not recommend Yod Abyssinia Traditional Restaurant - the quality of the food and the service is simply not good enough.

Cultural performances and dances were great and entertaining. It can get very busy so come early if you have a large group. There is little ventilation in the bigger room and it can get quite hot, so dress accordingly. Service is fine, it can be hard to track down a waiter/waitress when it gets busy. Food tastes good, however, our entire group of 8 people got stomach sick/GI symptoms after eating there - I was the only non local, even the local people I was with felt stomach sick for the next 12-24 hours. Maybe stick with tej/drinks to enjoy the performances and eat elsewhere to avoid getting stomach sick.

I would say easily the best restaurant I’ve ever been to! Or at least in top 3! Such an unique experience! Live music with dances, excellent traditional food, great stuff and coffee! Prices are quite reasonable as well! I was lucky to get there a free table at 11 in the evening because the restaurant was completely packed! You better make a reservation before going there! But otherwise is a must go in Addis!

Very touristy, yet plenty of locals as well. There was even a wedding party there in the back of the room. Food was good quality, but it was very crowded and difficult to get service. They ended up setting another couple at our table when we finished our meal, so we lost our area to place our drinks.

With an innovative dining concept that mixes real Ethiopian heritage with urban Addis, this restaurant features organic, natural materials alongside colorful hand-painted graphics, stunning traditional dining chairs and tables and illuminated hanging lanterns against a relaxed backdrop of a fantastic range of singers, extremely talented dancers and dinners chatter and laughter. All these makes this a real cultural melting pot – the perfect place to eat, drink, relax and celebrate while experiencing the culture of many different parts of Ethiopia from one place. Great Service and great ambiance in all.

As it is saying on the main restaurant sign” Ethiopian Cultural Ambassador” you will find everything authentic in this restaurant. They have daily cultural music night and traditional dance show. I loved the vibe, the atmosphere, how people interact with each other without prior knowledge and how the dancers and performing bands walk towards the customers and randomly pick people and take them to stage. It is absolutely stunning experience and you don’t want to miss that if you are in Addis Ababa. The food: Amazing food and many varieties and everything we tried was well prepared and mouth watering. You need to be careful when selecting from the menu and you better always ask the waitresses if you have a doubt about an item to make sure you are ordering what you think it is! I definitely recommend Yod Abyssinia..

My favourite traditional restaurant, also the traditional dance performers are the best in Addis, always coming up with a different moves, I really like them. Aslo the Tej drink is awesome but the food isn't that special, as of my test I guess, overall the place is perfect to go alone, with friends or any family members.

The food was amazing but according to Ethiopian standards is very pricey. I came in during the midday and they were rehearsing for the night show. This made the conversation nearly impossible as they were exceptionally loud. The service was bland, as the the menu was simply dropped off at our table and the server was then never to be found unless we made a conscious effort at getting her attention. After paying the bill the change miraculously disappeared and we had to actively ask for it. Which i find to be in very bad taste. I won't be visiting this place again.

ATMs galore too at this place if you need to withdraw more cash because you probably will stay here longer than you planned and spend more. Perfect to experience traditional music and dance of Ethiopia. The food is good too but not to the standard. We have been there to times. We enjoyed it a lot . The only downside is order takes time. It is understandable that they have to accommodate a lot of visitors at once. There were a lot of customers while we were there.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Yod Abyssinia, and it was an absolute delight! The ambiance, service, and, most importantly, the kitfo left a lasting impression on me. From the moment I entered, I was welcomed by the warm and vibrant atmosphere. The traditional Ethiopian decor added an authentic touch to the dining experience. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure every detail of the evening was perfect. Now, let's talk about the star of the show – the kitfo. It was nothing short of exceptional! The flavors were rich, the meat perfectly seasoned, and the traditional preparation truly showcased the restaurant's commitment to authenticity. Each bite was a journey through the rich culinary heritage of Ethiopia. The menu offered a variety of traditional dishes, and I can confidently say that Yod Abyssinia has mastered the art of Ethiopian cuisine. The injera served alongside the kitfo was soft and had that perfect sourdough taste. Overall, my experience at Yod Abyssinia was memorable. Whether you're a fan of Ethiopian cuisine or looking to explore something new, this restaurant is a must-visit. I'll definitely be returning to savor more of their delightful dishes.
