"You should avoid this ugly combination " "절대 이용하면 안되는 도둑 집단" 고민 자체를 하지 마시고 거르세요 정말 위험하고 비위생적인 최악의 총체 입니다. We joined Danakil tour from 15th to 18th. There was no Lava no proper food and accommodation. The worst thing was, I was stolen $750 by ETT driver at salt lake from the car in the midnight in front of my bed!!! I complained to ETT supervisor at Addis ABBA "Bisrat" He said ETT will investigate the driver by the police. And he took my information to make police case too. But later on ETT sent just one short text which mentioned they suspended the driver that day. And when I try to ask my money they never picking my phone and answering text. Which means they just try to putting down my issue with simple text!!. So I'm now on my way to make police case against ETT to Addisabba. If you don't want to be like me. DON'T EVER USE THIS UGLY. Explanation. I always carried my shoulder bag(passport money ETC)throughout my journey and slept with it. Except only one time, that night, because we all were instructed to keep our belongings in the car that night by local guide "Kibreab" for security reason. So when the driver came and stealing money at midnight I was not able to say anything but watching. When back to Mekele ETT office, same date, I realized that someone touched my bag. And found all sealed and well counted money envelopes were torn which were prepared for local church and school construction. He didn't take everything but little by little here and there. For my case he took $350 from one envelope $400 from another. That means it was not first time. habitual stealing. I think they are used to it.

I would advise anyone not to book a tour through ETT. We booked a Danakil Depression tour with them through their agent in Lalibela (Amlaku). I made payment for the tour on my credit card. A month later when I checked my bill there was a duplicate payment made for three weeks later. This appears to be a fraudulent payment made by their agent. I have emailed the main ETT office in Addis and had no response from them. Avoid using ETT (especially in Lalibela) if you want to avoid this kind of fraudulent payment being made against your card.

We set a drive from Addis to Bahar dar and they told us the driver will pick us up at 5 am (international time) i woke up the next morning at 4 am to see a text saying they will come at 7. It was too early for them to pick up so we just waited and only at 7 the called to say they are a little late. Eventually the driver came at 7:30 and we were sure this is it and we are on our way. Than we have noticed the route is taking us back to the office where the driver stopped for another 15 minutes in order to receive cash from someone. All the plans we had for the day are not going to happen since we will arrive too late to Bahar dar. They are not responsible not responsive and weren't very nice with us

I just wanted to drop you a note to say 1 thousand thank you for all your help in making this holiday absolutely magnificent. Your flexibility, great advise patience and perseverance made the whole experience extraordinary and the whole travel experience effortless. Kibreab was brilliant, very polite, flexible and very knowledgeable. This proved to be extremely helpful as we clearly needed guidance. The airport staffs were also lovely, very welcoming and very helpful. I have to say that this has in no doubt been the most stress free holiday we have ever had. I will definitely pass on your details to anyone who is considering going to Ethiopia on holidays.

Fantastic - we had an incredible time in Ethiopia, looked after by the ETT team. From Danakil including negotiation with the Afar, to transport around the country, and simply as a point of contact for advice, all were helpful and responsible when travel wasn’t always straightforward. What an incredible trip - Thank you!

I don’t know about the other tour with this company but we joined Yirga Chefe coffee tour with ETT but It was NOT organized at all. A hotel we supposed to stay was not boooked and our guide asked us “Haven’t you booked the hotel you stay ?” What the hell is that question. He found a hotel (Of course he had to.)A manager we talked in their office in Addis Ababa, the manager FASIL said we have coffee farm tour on 1 st day and 2nd day, in the morning of 2nd day, we gonna have Coffee Ceremony but we did not have. We called the manager SO MANY TIMES but he never answered and he only answered our guide’s call. ( which was weird and so rude. )

Booked a trip to Ethiopia to our interests and preferences. As first time visitors to Ethiopia it was difficult to choose from the huge number of destinations available. The Travel Agent at the ETT office took time to understand what we would enjoy and skillfully helped us to decide where to go, what to see and where to stay. She was patient and knowledgeable, suggesting small hotels and excursions to fit our specific interests, and always mindful of our budget. Our itinerary looks amazing!

Thanks. A quick thank you for such a wonderful time in your beautiful city. The hotel was very nice and we all enjoyed both tours very much.We appreciate all your information and being just our group with you certainly made out trip more personal. We had a much more leisurely, wonderful time than if we had been on a big tour bus. I will certainly keep your card and recommend you to anyone going to Addis Ababa. Sincerely, I

Excellent day trip full of great experiences! It was exactly what I was hoping for. My guide Eliyas was extremely informative and energetic. He was quite flexible as he coordinated with me to accommodate my late flight arrival and also provided flexibility for time of lunch and restroom breaks. I was traveling solo but felt completely comfortable and safe. Highly recommended tour if you are interested in familiarizing yourself with this interesting country full of history and natural beauty.

Our trip was better than we could have expected. It was the perfect way to celebrate my birthday. The cost of living in Ethiopia is quite low comparative to New Zealand, so meals and goods were well priced. Even though local guides are freelancers, the leaders were great. Thank you for such wonderful, insightful and reasonably priced vacation. For those of you considering Ethiopia go!

Our family were extremely pleased with our stay in Ethiopia. The guides were always on time and speak perfect English. They know the history of their country very well and teach us thousands of things about the history of the most beautiful country, Ethiopia. They are passionate. We also want to thank the drivers. They drive calmly. The cars were always very clean and well on time.

The welcoming was nice . Problem started after I arived at gondar. They stolen my camera and cell phone from the car . Every guide request extra tips . The guide never cares about me . When we arived at addis ababa and complain about the issue to the manager Mr bisrat he ignore us. Use this tour company if you want looted.

I was really relaxed when I started my Ethiopia trip. From the beginning there was disorganisation with ETT (late comings, time loosing because they pick you up with wrong cars and then drive every time to their office to change), but ok, I thought let it go. After I payed my trip to the North I didn't receive exact details about hotel names, times I will be picked up for the tours etc. It was always a surprise. You drive to the next city and your driver has to find out in which hotel you will stay. Sometimes (like in my case in Mekele and Lalibela) there was no room reserved or at the wrong hotel (even I expicitly asked to have a specific one and agreed to pay more for it). Their drivers are all the time on the phone, driving fast down the mountains and making 100 phone calls at the same time. They will sell you a trip to Tigray with 3 churches per day, but that's impossible to visit in such a short time. City tours are no real city tours. They will go with you to the sights but will leave you completely alone after this (mostly) 2hours tours. The problem you will have is to find a better agency for the same price. If you want a well organised tour you should be ready to pay the double. But if you can keep your expectations low and have good nerves, then you are right here. Everywhere I was people told me "ohhh with ETT always problems".

I would definitely recommend avoiding these guys. They are the biggest tour company in Ethiopia but are nothing but middlemen outsourcing to local guides, and trying to save costs at every turn. Right after booking the tour I was provided with a changed Itinerary by Mariah. The trip now included only two flights instead of three, and a long drive from Mekele to Lalibela. I was told it was due to flights being full, but after searching Ethiopian airlines I discovered flights weren't full at all, just more expensive. After landing, another agent named Nati took over my Itinerary, who was an absolutely horrible agent and and simply just didnt care. I missed one day of trekking in Simien because they bundled me in with other tourists to save cost on the drive to Axum. My axum and tigray Itinerary was changed up again to include me with other tourists. After arriving in tigray I find out my hotel was booked an hour away from the one mentioned in the Itinerary, even though the churches were only 10 minutes away. Literally every single day after that I have had a different hotel from the one in my Itinerary. Even after asking Nati and Maria where I am staying, I would be told one thing, but upon arrival I find out a different hotel has been booked by the local agent of the city. I would waste 30-60 minutes every day trying to figure out where I'm staying. Towards the end the agents stopped replying to me all together. For the price I paid I expected everything to be taken care of and to have a smooth trip, but you are much better off booking everything yourself or with an independent agent/local guides on ground for much cheaper and avoid the headache of dealing with incompetent and dishonest middlemen.

Booked a half day tour with them with 3 items on the agenda: holy Trinity Church, national museum and a renowned coffee place. The tour was supposed to start at 11 but they were 40mins late in the pick up. Although I understand they have no control over the Addis traffic (which is horrendous). Our tour guide, Muller, did a great job of sharing the information about the various places and the car provided to us was also very clean and relatively new. Muller by far was the saving grace of what I thought was a lost cause of a trip considering our time constraint and addis traffic. I would highly recommend hiring Muller as your guide. He did a good job explaining things in English, navigating us through the traffic and showing us various places, took us to a coffee ceremony, Ethiopian lunch and made our experience all over a lot of fun! Cheers! Till we meet next time Muller :)

I took the 2 day Danakil tour. It was overpriced and not really 2 days. Departed late at 11:15 after a lot of confusion and being put into 3 different vehicles. Then arrived early the next day at about 14:00. Program claimed camping, but we slept outside in strong winds on a saggy, handcrafted wooden bed frame with an old sheet and sleeping bag. There were no toilets so you just went to the bathroom on the ground in the Afar "village." The food provided was not good, especially the 2 lunches. Pasta and a little tomato sauce. I was disappointed.

(Translated by Google) HIRING THEM was disastrous. Disorganization in its entirety. They sent us to dirty "hotels" with bugs, cold water, ETC. EXAGGERATED PRICE. We did not ask that you take us to luxury hotels but with a minimum of hygiene and solubrity. THEY IMPROVISED the day to day. They cut visits to keep the money for the tickets, which was included. They do not give any specification of the itinerary, only verbal. Yes, don't ruin your vacation. (Original) CONTRATARLOS fue desastroso. Desorganización en su totalidad. We did a tour to Danakil's depression with them. The tour was OK, we spent so many time into the cars and we did many stops on the way. The drivers didn't change so we tought that it must have been hard for them. On the other hand, the food at Danakil was good, specially the breakfast, we enjoyed it. When we ate at restaurants for lunch the food was normal and the drinks weren't included into the tour, so you have to pay (more or less 30 bir for drink) They also gave us sleeping bags. Another thing is that talking with other people we realized that the prices were differents, for us it was 350$ but for some guys 300$ (they came with ETT also, as we), and for a girl who came with us from another company (I don't know the name) it was 250$. So there wasn't a fixed prix... If you ask for a discount maybe they can change your price, so be smart, we didn't ask for a discount and we payed more than others.

I booked the Addis city tour via email with a representative at ETT and we had confirmed the itinerary, pickup time and price before it was all set to go. When the day came, my driver didn't show up to pick me up at the hotel until 20min past the scheduled time and I had to message the ETT rep to confirm that they were still coming. Then the driver dropped me off at the main office and the guy who was in charge at the time had no idea what tour I was suppose to be on, so I told him Addis city tour and paid him the agreed upon amount. We didn't officially start the tour until 10am in which I joined another group of tourists scheduled to do the same tour. It started out fine with the National museum and then Entoto mountain, but then after the two sites our guide said the tour was over. Apparently he was only told to take us to the two places by the guy in charge. So we showed him the itinerary and we ended up going to a couple more places but it was completely disorganized and quite disappointing for my first impression of Addis. On a side note, the guide was very kind. I felt bad for him because he was just as confused as the rest of us. But I do feel there needs to be more communication amongst the staff at ETT.
