The Hospital was built by Emperor Haile Selassie I in 1969 with the help of the German Evangelical Church. It aimed to serve the poor. medical school, the Millennium Medical College was opened in 2007 to commemorate the new Millennium era of the Ethiopian Calendar (which is 7 years behind the Gregorian Calendar). Students admitted from each region of the country are required to pass written and oral (VIVA) entrance exams. The school was established by the Ethiopian Ministry of Health with Gordon Williams of the department of urology at the Hammersmith Hospital in London as the first dean.

The worst hospital in Addis. They are only interested about the money. They don’t really care about human lives. Especially the Nurses who work night shift are rude, cold and don’t know anything. They posted in the room about the things they do, like repositioning the patient every 2 hours. Feeding every 3 hours, but they don’t even come when we need them. One Of the male nurse at Noc shift, use his phone instead of helping the patient. They never have name tag so it is hard to identify who is who. The doctors are young and inexperienced. They use human beings like rats in laboratories. Extremely disappointed by their service. Please don’t take yourself or loved ones for medical attention. I lost my precious Mom because of bad medical care. She went for simple surgery and turned into complication because they didn’t pay attention. No I don’t recommend this place for my worst enemy. Thank you for reading

St Paul’s Millennium Medical College, as it is known today, was established through a decree of the Council of Ministers in 2010, although the medical school opened in 2007 and the hospital was established in 1968 by the late Emperor Haile Selassie. It is governed by a board under the Federal Ministry of Health. The College initiated Ethiopia’s first integrated modular and hybrid problem-based curriculum for its undergraduate medical education, and is currently expanding to postgraduate programs and diversifying its undergraduate program offerings. St Paul’s is in the process of building its capacity quickly in a short period of time, growing from 3 to 250 faculty members in the last six years, and expanding teaching facilities.  The college has more than 2800 clinical, academic and administrative and support staffs that provide medical specialty services to patients who are referred from all over the country, teaching medicine and nursing students and doing basic and applied researches. While the inpatient capacity is more than 700 beds, The College sees an average of 1200 emergency and outpatient clients daily.

insufficient medical equipment!!! It was my first time in this hospital and in ethiopia,I moved here from Qatar 5 months ago and currently am pregnant. I visted this hospital for regular checkups amd the neatness and quality of the hospital is good, eventhough the doctor was polite and profisional, but when I entered the doctors room with my husband I am really shocked not to see an ultrasound there. After that I have to go to another room for ultrasound ,not only that I have to wait a very long queue, the most beautifull moment every dad and mom wish to see is the baby inside u via ultrasound, but they didnt alow my husband to get in because lot people were waiting, instead we have to get in the room two paitents at a time.I felt very sad.
