If your fish fry is focused on the fish, definitely come here! The pieces are very large and meaty and the breading is very flavorful. The service was excellent considering how busy the place is. My only issue were the waffle fries. The fries were clumped together and undercooked making it more like mushy potatoes rather than crisp fries. The coleslaw was crunchy and cold which was delicious. On a Friday night, You should definitely expect a wait. It took a while to get a drink but I totally understand because it was insanely crowded. The fish fry is absolutely the best around!! I am crazy about the tartar sauce!! The service is always very friendly! Can't wait for the outside garden to open up to have a place to wait for a table.

Food and beverage were great. We went in a somewhat busy Tuesday for lunch and due to shortage of wait help we had to sit at the bar. Not a big deal and it went great.

Decent staff wonderful decor. The duck tenders are fantastic definitely one of things you must get the mushrooms are wonderful. The baked potato is okay it is a baked potato after all and my main dish the Cajun chicken sandwich was the best and I hate chicken

This is a picture of the prime rib that was embarrassingly served on Easter. It was leftover from their prime rib night. It was disgusting. And it started with a staff in chaos and debris stuck to the inside of the water carafe that I had just drank from. I won't be back. Not when they claim prime rib and it looks and tastes like rubber off of a car tire. Thanks, happy easter

We have been enjoying MJ Stevens for decades! The BEST fish fry on the planet in my opinion. We’ve always had great service, and delicious food whether it is brunch, dinner or a fish fry. Highly recommend!

Wonderful place to eat, loved the Chili and My Steak...

My buddy Steve and I were just starting the second half of a long road trip from Cleveland, OH up to Juneau, WI and back. Steve saw the sign off the highway and wanted to try it out because of their name. Thankfully there was no wait. I think our Waitress was new, she seemed nervous but she did good. I got a half pound Patty melt and fries. The food was really good. I wish I was able to eat it all there but we had to leave sooner than expected (Steve is lactose intolerant but he wanted some Wisconsin cheese and ate too much of it) So I took the rest to go. Before we started the road trip I was hoping to hear someone say "don't ya know" in Wisconsin. Right before we left I heard a staff member say "Just so ya know" with a thick accent and that was close enough. That made my day. If I ever go back through the area, I'll stop in again.

It was a beautiful night to dine outside! The food and service were fantastic. I had the best filet I've had in a very long time. While the tables were placed in such a way to practice social distancing, none of the staff wore masks. Had I seen special safety measures taken in light of COVID, I would have given it a 5-star rating.

For years I've been hearing about MJ Stevens and how they are one of the best Fish Fry's in the area, so me and my girlfriend decided to finally see what all the hype was about. We arrived and immediately I found the location and outside signage to be very cozy and inviting. We were told that it would be a 25-30 minute way but the restaurant has a very nice outdoor Bar/Seating area. They also utilize an intercom system so it's very easy to hear when your name is called for a table. The amount of time we waited was perfect, as I had an old fashioned at the bar and then the table was ready. We both got the 4 piece fish fry which costs around 20 dollars which I thought was pricey but boy was I surprised by the portions, 4 large pieces of fish, fries, bread and coleslaw. The fish isn't "generic" breaded cod that you get at some places, it has a very unique taste and you can see the seasoning on it. Overall I enjoyed the entire experience and I'm my opinion this is the best fish fry in Washington county.

I hate leaving negative reviews and most of the time I will just refrain from reviewing at all. But… my dad and I are in town visiting family. My son in law recommended this place for dinner. The server was okay. Friendly enough. But my son in law never got his salad even after asking for it after our main entree was served. The server even left the table saying she would be right back with the salad. It never came. Honestly the best part of my meal was the free bread and butter. I ordered the Sherwood turkey sandwich. It was bland. Everything was bland. My dad ordered a burger from the main menu, not the kids. He was brought a plain burger. No lettuce or tomato, onions…. No condiments. It was dry. He asked for some veggies for it and she told him it doesn’t come with any but that she would go get him some if he wanted her to. What?! Who serves adult burgers with nothing but meat and cheese? I’m still flabbergasted. My grandsons spaghetti kids meal was a huge pile of noodles with a tiny bit of sauce on top. It was a very disappointing experience and I don’t think any of us will ever go back.

We have been here on multiple occasions. We love the prime rib special, it is the absolute best. The portions are amazing and the quality of the meat is top notch. You aren't paying for a bunch of extra fat, you actually get what you are paying for. They have a great fish fry as well. Great restaurant.

Stopped in for lunch on our way to Alpine Valley. Great food, huge portions but most of all the waitstaff was very kind and made our experience memorable. We will return! Thank you!

The Sunday brunch was absolutely delicious and plentiful! My coworker, his wife and I truly enjoyed the fresh line that consisted of salad, fruit, Scrambled eggs, prime rib Hash, Talapia, etc etc amongst a beautiful selection of desserts. The make your own omelet was equally as good, if not my favorite. Even though a few large parties were near by, I didn't have to shout or struggle to hear my friends. The service was great from hostesses to the omelet station cook to the server. We will be back soon and my parents literally went 5 days after I told them how much I liked it. My mom loves your Christmas decor from years past and hopes it continues for years to come. It was my Dads first time and he enjoyed it as well 😀

This is one of my favorite places to eat in Washington Co. It's a hidden gem and the road leading in is easy to miss. The Balsamic Salmon is delicious! The staff is friendly and the prices are reasonable. If you haven't been here lately, you should visit soon.

Great fish fry but be prepared to wait unless you go very early or fairly late. Their ribs are out of this world, which are on special on Thursdays. We always get the full rack and end up with four meals worth of meat (just add a side dish with leftovers). They quickly became a family favorite since moving to Dodge Co.

Food was okay at best. Service left much to be desired. The only ones that cared were the servers from different areas. We went there because of the adds that 102.9 the hog broadcasted. I wish we didn't go.

I went here on a Friday night with my family. Service here was excellent and our waitress, Sandra, was very good. I ordered the New York Strip meal with chili and a side of steak potatoe fries. The chili was okay. It was more of a mush than actual chili. It also was from a can and I could very easily taste that. The fries were very good with a crispy texture. Finally the steak was below average. It had an uneven crust on one side and the other side barely even had a crust. Also the steak was severely unseasoned. I asked for it medium rare which was not consistent throughout the cut. However the steak was tender which was a plus. Overall I would rate this meal a 4.5 out of 10. I definitely do not think it was worth the $28 for the whole meal. Even though the food was below average, I did however enjoy the environment and experience within the establishment.

We absolutely love it here. It’s our go to restaurant in the area for sure. Whatever you do don’t miss Mexican fiesta on Tuesday nights or prime rib on Thursdays. :-) Sandy and her team truly make us feel like family.

Came here for a fish fry last Friday. This used to be one of the top places. I would go for a fish fry. I heard the place had started going downhill after the new owners took over. The rummers weren't wrong. There's normally at least a half an hour Wait to get into this place. Sometimes longer. We didn't have to wait at all. We walked in and got seated right away. The service was less than I remember. Our waitress was MIA most the time. And the food was far worse than I remember. $20 for a 4 peace fish fry. And the fish was tough and greasy. $75 for two two adult fish fries and a kids mac and cheese, and two old fashions that tasted mostly like soda. Won't be going back here anymore unfortunately.

If you have ever driven by this place off the freeway and wondered if you should stop, stop. It's worth the look. Good prime rib.

My husband and I had dinner tonight. The waitress never made eye contact with us when ordering. Later this night, I became very ill thinking it may have been something undercooked. They had no empathy and said nothing to make it better. Didn't say they would look into anything. I will never go there again.

Most of the food was great - the bread, salads especially, and my wife's prime rib was divine. I got the Memphis dry rub ribs and while the flavor was very good, there was simply too much of it, making it incredibly salty. They were falling off the bone though. Service was great too.

Ordered steak n shrimp. Steak was overcooked, sent it back. Waitress proceeds to tell me it was fine and we go back n forth as if i don't know medium rare. Finally get a new one when everyone was finished. Packed it up and my elbow hits it right onto the floor! Waitress asked if I would like her to wash it off for me! I couldn't quite grasp that thought. Not sure if this is a new thing, but it was a hard no. I paid almost $40 for the 4 shrimp I ate. They did take my drink off the bill. Don't think we'll be back soon Thank you for the response. We we're there Thursday March 16 and had reservations for 5pm under Bonnie. I can't recall the servers name but around middle age with blondish hair.

Did not notice it at first and thought someone at the table had let one rip. Shortly after discovered that the front of the restaurant smelt like sewage. Obviously over due on having the septic taken care of. A huge turn off! I kept wondering how people at the bar were still able to sit there?Ordered Ruben rolls which were made with ham or perhaps a very cheap corn beef? Another guest ordered the prime rib sandwich med-rare which was more like med-well. The only saving grace was the soup and brochette. It's been years since I have been there. Judging from this last experience I can't say I will be back.

I love the apple, pecan, gorgonzolla, bacon salad with salmon. The salmon was perfectly done and I can't wait to have it again but there are so many other great things on the menu as well. I also would recommend the tenderloin sandwich on sourdough.

Mixed results here. I’ve had good food and good service here. And I’ve had not so good food and service here. It’s also a little too cold for comfort in this place. The place is cool looking though, so I’m still rooting for it to make it.

We went to MJ Stevens to celebrate my husband’s bonus. We both ordered the Queen size Prime Rib. Mine was wonderful! But, my husband’s was full of fat, grissle and pieces you couldn’t chew! I brought most of mine home. My husband brought his home too, but we wound up throwing it out. When I called the restaurant, the owner answered. He did not apologize. He told me both came from the same piece of meat, and they inspect it as much as they can before cutting. He said he would send the pictures to his meat distributor. That was all I heard. Never Again! Wasted a beautiful night and $80 on nothing much!!

The fish fry is my favorite around. Such big pieces if fish and everything is so good they add extra seasoning to the tartar sauce, garlic, its so good.

We were happy to hear you were back up and running. There were 3 of us, seated right away. We all ordered the 1 piece fish fry and the food was good as usual although the breading was heavier than we remembered. The problem came with our drinks. Two of us ordered whiskey old fashion sours. When the waitress brought the drinks out we knew they werent right. They were a light yellow in color. Usually a darker red. Both took a drink. They were completely without taste and absolutely void of alcohol. I'm not sure why we didnt send them back .... bad on us. I think we were just happy to be eating out. Not the first time the drinks have been ... off. But this time was ridiculous. Not sure if we will be back ...

A wonderful dinner experience from start to finish. The hostesses and our server were so good at their jobs, something hard to come by these days. And the food, fantastic ! Hands down the best fish fry I've had. Never oily, never mushy and never lacking in taste. Thank you, it's even a pleasure to wait for such a great meal ?

We were here once before. Last night was a large group. 13 I believe. Crazy busy on a Friday night. Good beer choices on tap. Once we finally got seated, everything was all good. Great service and good food. Reasonable prices.

Very accommodating. Outside seating was under a canopy out of the sun. However, we could have in sun seating also. The four of us chose different lunches and we all loved our meals. It was very nice.

Tonight my wife and I had a celebration of 27 years at my employer. She enjoyed and indulged in her appetizer of potato skins loaded. They were a perfection compared to other restaurants we've been to. What needed to be Chrispy was crispy without dripping oil and what was moist and delicious was spot-on I encourage you to try that. They had their special of half rack of ribs tonight for a lower price I ordered the dry rub with a side of barbecue sauce and it was outstanding. Our server Tina did a fantastic job. She was efficient polite and made sure she checked on us at all the right times very nice. So yes as a couple who's been married for 32 years we highly recommend MJ Stevens especially when you eat with the old people at 4 and 5 o clock in the evening. It was not busy and everything was covid-19 safe. We were properly distance and everything was sanitized. We will definitely be back. Thank you MJ Stevens staff for a wonderful meal.

Excellent food and friendly service, and never had a problem until today. I ate at the bar and baked fish was great. What was different was that being as busy as it was there was only one person (young man) behind the bar, when there should have been two. I waited fifteen minutes for my change, and finally left. I left another dollar on the bar, but would have provided a bigger tip. There was more businees then one bar tender could handle, even thou he tried.

Great atmosphere

We have been to MJ Stevens and have enjoyed their fist fish, some of the best in the county. They have adapted extremely well to carry out and the owner has been great on what they are doing to adapt to demand. Like many have mentioned im sure it’s a challenge to know demand. Keep up the great food!

Stopped for a quick bite to eat. Ordered a signature Bloody Mary. Came in a glass pitcher!Fantastic garnishes, but the tomato juice lacked flavor and spices. Tasted like Campbell's tomato juice! Sandwiches were excellent. Great service by Demi C. It was very cold inside with the ceiling fans on high. Ketchup served in a red plastic bottle! That didn't match the atmosphere, should be in a glass bottle We will stop again!

Well worth the wait. My husband and I had the 2 piece fish. The fish had an amazing flavor and melted in your mouth. The portion was large enough were I had left overs to take home. The service was fast and the server was smiley, friendly and always on top of our drinks. (Debra) Can’t wait to stop again.
