DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR A SAFE SURFING EXPERIENCE AS A FEMALE TRAVELING TO MOROCCO. I usually always travel alone to go to places to surf and I’ve been so lucky to have stayed at surf houses that treated me like family and where I got to meet so many friends that have gone on to surf and travel with me all over the world. But my experience at Blue Waves was extremely stressful which made me shorten my stay to 4 days instead of 3 weeks and here’s what happened. I’ve only been surfing for less than a year so I’m not in any way a great surfer and always hire a guide to surf with me in the water to help me navigate around the breaks especially on bigger days where surfing on my own could be dangerous. I paid for surf guiding at Blue Waves and as I was getting ready to surf the surf guide refused to go into the water with me because he was “cold and will only surf if it gives him pleasure”. He then went on to say in his six years of guiding it was never necessary for him to get into the water and that his job is just to drive people to places to surf and drive them back home. After I called the surf house to complain because I’m not getting the service that I paid for, Jamal (the surf guide) gets mad at me and starts mocking me by saying things like “thanks so much for the review” and that I’m only complaining because he didn’t drive my friend to the surf spot (which is not at all the reason why). He then goes to surf to avoid getting into trouble and at that point I felt very unsafe and let alone wanted to get into the water with him and just wanted to go home. I then called the surf house to call me a taxi that never ended up finding me. I was at a remote surf break called Desert Point and even though it was far it was not a hard place to find. The surf receptionist then started to get irritated with me saying that he’s making all these calls to the taxi and that it’s his breakfast time so he’s mad that he has to deal with this issue. He also kept on defending Jamal by saying that he’s a nice guy and problems like this have never happened before and completely disregarding my situation. My phone was dying and by that time I’ve already waited for 1.5 hour under the sun with no water in the middle of nowhere for the taxi. I started having a panic attack and started walking on the side of the road to see if the taxi could find me and texted my friend Delaney to see if she could pick me up when she sees my texts when she gets signal again. The taxi doesn’t end up finding me and two very kind surfers saw me walking alone on the side of the street and crying and offered me a ride back to the surf house, which was a four hour walk away. After I told the receptionist I got a ride he then proceeded to get mad at me for ditching the taxi and saying my behavior is unacceptable and that he will be charging the taxi bill on my card. I emailed the owners of the surf house Tono and Andrea regarding my situation and got no response for 2 days. And when they finally responded this is what they sent me. On the last day my ankles started itching in the middle of the night and I woke up to find bed bug bites on me. I also had no hot water and had to take a cold shower when i was already shivering from surfing in cold water at sunset. They also charged me and Delaney (my friend who was staying with me) a bunch of expenses wrongly including surfboard rental fees that Delaney already paid upfront in person on the first day. They’ve proceeded to block me on instagram so I would not be able to tag them if I were to speak about my experience in public. I would not want anyone especially girls who travel alone to foreign countries alone to go through what I went through. So if you ever decide to go surf in Morocco, please avoid Blue Waves Surf House at all cost. They don’t care about their guests and only go above and beyond for instagram influencers that stay at their house to maintain their “insta famous” reputation. I’ve also requested for a refund which they refused to provide. To make everything worse, they had bed bugs

I’ve been staying here for a week and leaving tomorrow but couldn’t wait to give 5 star. These guys are amazing. This spectacular surf house belongs to young Spanish couple who are really friendly. Also crew are know what to do from reception to surf coaches. I told them several times that they were so lucky to find the best location in anza to have surf house. 50 second walking distance to beach. Don’t hesitate to come here and enjoy doesn’t matter if you’re beginner or pro, you’ll fall in love with that place.

Really good experience. The people you meet there is incredible, also the dinner is very recommended as it is traditional Morocco food very well cooked, the best I have ever tasted. The guys that work there are very kind and always try to help you. Also the owner of the place, Tono and Andrea, are great hosts, they gave me a warm welcome and helping me to solve my doubts and queries.😊

What a marvelous experience! I travelled with my family, 3 kids (13, 10 & 8 years) and my wife, from August 1st to 12th. These “active holidays” were a real unplugged: surfing in the morning, walking around in the evening, beautiful sunsets and sleeping fresh & deep. We loved surfing, the dunes/desert, Mogador (Esauira), Agadir Zoco, the food, and even driving was an experience 😜. The hotel (we were in Tamraght) is new and comfortable, calm and beautiful. They are even projecting new services in both Anza & Tamraght (Jungle restaurant & yoga room). But what made the beautiful experience was the staff (nice surf teachers, nice hosts, nice cookers, nice food, …), and the idea of making you feel a part of their local project. We miss you, we will come back for sure. Thanks 😊

Great place to stay and learn how to surf! The vibes of the staff and the location are just awesome! The rooftop gives a perfect overview of the beach (I took two pics out of the airplane) and the accommodation is clean and comfy! Definitely a recommendation!

Perfect time with the guys at the house in Anza. Everybody is genuinely friendly and will help you however they can. You get to taste a more authentic vibe than in agadir. The place is spotless, Nadia and Fatima are doing amazing food and all the staff is like a family, giving you the best tips and making you feel like at home. Best place if you want to come alone, with friend, with lover, with affair, with imaginary friend, if you want to relax, surf, take a nap, skateboard around, haggle with the local, escape an international arrest warrant. It is really perfect. Will try to go back ASAP!

UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE AND WARM HOSPITALITY IN AGADIR ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I recently had the pleasure of staying at the beachfront hostel in Agadir that not only offers exceptional accommodations but also provides invigorating surfing and yoga lessons. From start to finish, my experience was nothing short of amazing. The accommodations were not only spotless but also thoughtfully designed for comfort and convenience. The bed was comfortable, and there was ample space to store my belongings. Speaking of which, I noticed a review mentioning limited hot water, but personally, I had warm water for the entirety of my shower - a small detail that made a big difference. One of the highlights of my stay was the delicious food served at the hostel. The talented cooks prepared mouthwatering meals, and they were attentive to the guests' preferences, even replenishing popular ingredients to ensure everyone had a satisfying meal. While the noise from the street was a minor drawback, the combination of surfing and exciting excursions left me so exhausted that falling asleep was never a problem. The surfing and yoga experiences were truly exceptional. The instructors were generally not only friendly but also dedicated to helping everyone improve. Special shoutout to Anouar, whose enthusiasm and expertise made every lesson a blast. The post-lesson video analysis was an incredibly helpful tool for refining our skills. Simo, who managed the reception and trip organization, was an absolute gem. His warm welcome and willingness to accommodate us, even if we were late for dinner, truly stood out. He added a personal touch to my experience, always ready for a friendly chat and a good laugh. The hostel's environment was vibrant and friendly, making it easy to forge connections with fellow guests, instructors, and staff. The proximity to the beach was a dream come true, allowing for spontaneous strolls and quick dips in the ocean. While there were a few instances of varying the number of instructors for surfing sessions, it didn't overshadow the overall positive experience. The instructors, especially Hakima, Anouar and Amir, were dedicated to helping beginners like me catch waves and improve our technique. In summary, my stay at the beachfront hostel in Agadir was unforgettable. It combined comfort, adventure, and warm hospitality in a way that made me feel both at home and excited to explore. I highly recommend this hostel to anyone seeking a beachfront getaway with surfing, yoga, and a fantastic community vibe.

i stayed a week during summer as a solo female traveller and had the best time! Felt so secure and taken care of during all my trip! Anza people are so welcoming and super helpful. I had breakfast and dinner as a vegetarian every day and it always was delicious! The rooms are super cozy and surf was amazing, with recordings you could watch after. I recommend taking the dunes excursion, super fun! Thank you for making my first stay in Morocco the best it could have ever been! Definitely will be coming back with friends soon ;)

Simply amazing. I went to BlueWaves in 2020 for the first time, and came back in 2022 after Covid. The SurfHouse is very nice, in front of a beach with consistent waves. Trips to other surf spots are also available. The stay is comfortable as the building is nice, facilities are good. The food is simply amazing, with high-quality Moroccan dinners and breakfasts. Most importantly, the people managing it are extremely kind, working hard to make your experience unforgettable. Definitely recommended!!!!

The experience at Blue Waves Anza have been incredible. It has definitly beaten my expectations. The place, the staff, the meals, everything absolutely perfect to make you feel like home. I’ve fallen in love with the peace I’ve felt there. Tono and Andrea have created an atmosphere of good vibes that involves you and makes you not want to leave the house. It is clear that they raised this place with passion and love. You disconnect to connect with yourself and the sea. I’ve left a piece of my heart there. I will come back for sure. I’m very grateful, thank you guys!!!

Blue waves surfhouse provides an awesome stay where you feel as family. The team of Blue Waves are super friendly and help you with everything possible without asking. I would recommend the Blue waves surf house both as a solo traveller or as a friend group.

An absolutely incredible experience. Andrea and Tono are so intentional with everything they do. If you are looking for an off the beaten path adventure this is definitely it. The community, the food, and the surf instructors were all excellent I have nothing but nice things to say. You feel welcome regardless of what language you speak, whether its your first or hundredth time surfing, and it's just a beautiful place to stay. 100/10

The experience at Blue Waves was incredible. Tono and Andrea make you feel at home from the first moment. The people, the staff, the meals, the facilities, everything absolutely perfect. The ideal place to find harmony between body, mind and nature. Good vibes, good waves and cultural immersion in its purest form. I will come back for sure. Thanks for everything.

Quiet site, perfect to learn surfing and to be in contact with the ocean. There is not at all the pace of business in Marrakech, the people of the town are quiet, close and friendly. Very good staff at my service, good surf lessons, with a very good and healthy food. There is also a daily sunset, from the terrace itself.

Blue Waves Surf House is the best place to disconnect from 'real' world. In front of the sea, you just have to open the window from your bed and enjoy what the ocean gives you. What I like about this place, apart from its location, is the possibility of living the moroccan culture. They offer you local food, apart from local activities. But the best thing of the surf house is its roof terrace, from where you can enjoy one of the most special sunsets I have ever seen.

This is simply the best surfhouse experience I had in my life! The surf spot is just in front of the house, the staff are super cool and very efficient, the place is always very clean and the terrace to watch the sunset is AMAZING!! Besides, they help the local community and the prices are so good. If there are no waves, which is very rare, they have awesome trips arund Anza, and for surf freaks, they can take you to the best spots around area. I would higly recommend this place to everyone planning a surf trip!!

  • 5/5 Lander A. 6 years ago on Google
We had a really good time there! We enjoyed a lot and hostesses were amazing. You can be in the Anza surf camp they have too, if you want to be constantly on a beach spot. If you want to relax in a very calm neighborhood after the day, I advice you this place in Tamraght. We would like to live that experience again for sure!

My stay at the Blue Waves Surf House has been a very unique, authentic experience. Located at the Anza beach with a real seaside view and surrounded by everyday life, I really felt immersed in the rich and beautiful culture of Morocco. A sincere kindness and hospitality from the staff inspired me and other guests to be social and activities organised by the Blue Waves team fit right in with the idea of treating each other like family. The Spanish staff were well versed in English and would always try to include everyone despite language barriers. The surfing experience was great as well, my beginner lessons were fun and professional. The teachers were very patient, calm, and would always push me to get the next step right, with results! I’d recommend this trip dearly to everyone who wants to get a unique, active, social, and authentic experience of the real Morocco and all the beauty it has to offer.
