Beautiful historical place. You can feel the greatness of ancient construction when you see the building structure standing after +450 years (yes, +450) Sadly there's no much information offered to the tourist about when it was built and the purpose of it. Great place to see the city from another angle and wander around.

Went here during a day trip to Havana. It was an ok walking through the Fort to see the firing of the cannon but the best part to me was getting to watch the storm rolling in over Havana I snapped a few pics with my camera :)

The tradition of the nightly canon firing ceremony is amazing. It draws foreigners and Cubans alike. Make sure you get there between 7:30 and 8:00pm to pick a good place right behind the chains in front of the canon. Make yourself a favor and DO NOT pay for the "VIP" seating. You can bring your own food/beverage or buy one there.

For 100 CUP you can visit this very historical site. If you're in Old Havana for a few days this is a must do. Every single night there's a show commemorating the cannons blast at 9:00 p.m. make sure you show up around sunset so you can see the city in it's most beautiful state and capture show as well. They have gift shops bring water. **Make sure you have a way to get there and way back. Because you can't walk back into thru the tunnels. It shouldn't cost more than 10€ from Old Havana, I'm sure you can negotiate at round trip for 15 - 20€

Awesome historical fortress!! Be sure to check out the cigar shop, which offers great deals on boxes of cigars, rum, and coffee. Also stop by the display for the longest cigar in the world... cool place!

(Translated by Google) This is another of the fortresses that protected Havana from the attacks of corsairs and pirates. In this site a tradition is maintained that is worth visiting and is the cannon shot of 9 pm. All a ritual of when the bay was closed and its inhabitants were protected. The ceremony is carried out with typical costumes of the time and a cannon shot is fired which resonates throughout Havana. (Original) Esta es otra de las fortalezas qué Protegían a la habana de los ataques de corsarios y Piratas. Best time to visit at 8pm to have enough time before the cannon is fired at 9pm. It is a nice place to watch the sunset and view Havana also. At the end you’ll find many taxis and they’ll ask for 10usd to cross you over back to Havana.

Acceptable way to spend 200 CUP for non-Cuban nationals We visited the location on 23.06.2022. As always throughout Cuba, being a non-national, one is discriminated with regards to the entry fee, i.e. you are being charged a lot more than the locals. (Wondering if Cuba has actually signed the Human Rights Act , Article 14: Right not to be discriminated against. It definitely applies to the wallet as well.) The spectacle is good enough for the entry fee. Bare in mind the toilet entry fee is separate. (It should be included in the entry price to the "attraction".)

Very nice night with my family. At la Cabaña. After the Cannon shot exactly at 9 pm the rain start falling and was very cold, the artisan has a beatiful collection of cubans objects, including old cars, indian faces, cigars, ballerins, magic box and a lots more, please reach on time. I mean at least 15 minutes before, not like us that we reach almost there 4 minutes before they shot the cannon. The ceromony was very nice and remebered the colony times. I invited my lovely "Min sjeleven Minerva" along with my parents. This place is highly recommended, you will enjoy this place.

Local taxis take us to this place to buy rum and cigars. The history is wonderful. You will get to see the world biggest hand rolled cigar. The man who rolled it was there the day we went. End of Aug 2023. I believe this place has legit cigars but prepair to pay a premium for them. I am not into cigars so I wasn't willing to dash out 125 bucks for 3 cohibas. Don't bother buying the rum there. You will find it cheaper almost anywhere else. Enjoy your stay!

This fortification’s size is impressive. Unfortunately, the government has put almost no effort into making this site interesting for tourists. Of all the rooms inside the fort, only 2 are even open to tourists: a small chapel and a bizarre ancient history museum (whose dozen-odd artefacts include a plastic Neanderthal, a boomerang and nothing relating to Cuba).

Wow. Totally amazing experience. I went on a Monday night, and it was crowded. I was not expecting that many people to show up, but to my surprise, there were people lined up and gathered on the lower level and higher level to take pics and videos. One of my most memorable experiences here in Havana. You get to relive the experience of how the fort, soldiers, and canons were all set in place to defend the city from pirates and coastal raiders. Must see if you're in Havana for more than a few nights.

(Translated by Google) The cannon shot at 9 o'clock in Havana It is an 18th century cannon that is in the fortress of San Carlos decla Cabaña and is fired every night by soldiers in period clothes at 9:00 p.m. Let's start the trip to the past. All the lights go out and in the distance a voice is heard saying ... SILENCE ... The lanterns that will illuminate throughout the show are turned on. The drum roll sounds with a martial touch and young soldiers of the Spanish Crown appear marching, their footsteps are heard on the cobblestones. The past and the present are mixed as the flashes of the cameras that illuminate the entire Fortress begin to be seen and the cannonball ceremony begins This tradition begins in the late seventeenth century, to protect itself from the frequent attacks by corsairs and pirates, Havana was surrounded by a wall that closed its doors at eight at night. To announce it, a cannon was fired from a ship located in the port, until 1774, when the construction of the Cabaña was completed. Many years later it began to be released at 9 at night and since then it is part of the night sounds of the Cuban capital, and today it has become a tourist attraction It is made from the cannon battery of the fortress that is composed of 21 bronze cannons and curiously each one has its name, in short, I will not tell you more so that you are encouraged and enjoy this beautiful show that you ride on a machine time and allows you to enjoy the customs of the colonial era. ENJOY IT . DISFRUTENLO .

Not nearly as cool as the Castillo de Los Tres Reyes. The castle is large but that is its main selling point, having exhibits that lack the relevancy of those in Tres Reyes and not much in the way of complexity. Also smelled unclean and the majority of the buildings were closed. However, Che Guevara's command post is interesting and the view is pretty spectacular as well.

Other ways to go can be by ferry or by taking a taxi that negotiates about € 4. It is worth going there but you have to reserve enough time to see everything. You will do most of the way in the sun, there are no shadows. You walk around the area and negotiate another taxi to return. An immense Spanish military fort from the 18th century. Built between 1763 and 1774. I would like to recommend a visit for anyone who likes to view stone fortresses or fortified castles. The size of this fortress is impressive. On the other hand, an impression is as well as how many fortresses and how strong garrison a few centuries ago the Spanish maintained in Havana !!! I visited in February 2018: Castillo de San Salvador de la Punta, Castillo de la Real Fuerza, Castillo De Los Tres Reyes Del Morro and Fortaleza de San Carlos de la Cabaña.
