"Bait & Switch" trick We were all book by my BF for the three of us to stay here and received confirmation..upon arrival we were told they were overbooked and were taken to an elderly lady's house down the road. There were not enough beds there and 2 of us slept on a rocking chair with a towel thrown over it BUT were still made to pay the full price for what we originally paid for. This happened to 2 other travellers in the 3 days we were there; all given excuses and sent to various neighbour's homes. Elvira, our elderly host, said the hostal always overbooked to ensure maximum capacity and she took on at least 4 travellers a week. Very poor treatment and we feel duped.

Negatives *Entire place is full of bed bugs that left every guest with total coverage of bites and an expensive laundry bill. Probably a temporary health hazard until it gets sorted. *Breakfast is average -Positives *Nice staff *1 hour free WiFi at 8-9am

Deeply grateful to Ania and her wonderful staff! We arrived in Havana with a room booked elsewhere (I thought!) only to find that casa full on arrival. Found Ania on the cuba junky app and redirected our taxi. Though I stayed in hostels in my youth, it has been a good 2 decades since my last hostel stay. We got a private room with 3 single beds and a private shower for $25 (I've no idea what the shared rooms cost). The room was basic, but clean and gave me a place & space to figure out the rest of our stay in Havana. Had she not been fully booked, we would have continued our stay. The fruit shakes are great! For dinner I liked the fish, but probably wouldn't do dinner there again. breakfast was lovely all around. Again amazingly helpful and kind staff! THANK YOU! Also of note, we felt exceptionally safe here--serious lock down system!

First night we met one girl not sure if she had bed bugs but she was covered. Jumped in my bed and the next day I was covered in bites aswell. Told staff and they were in a bit of denial- the older lady and the girl cleaning were really nice though and highlight of our stay in the hostel.

11/2019 Still full of bedbugs. I had to take medication for 3 days because after 2 nights I had bites all over. Another girl had to go to hospital. Half her face was swollen because of bites. Really don't go there

Despite numerous confirmations, upon arriving we were told the rooms were overbooked and we were sent to live in another house.. This involved sleeping on rocking chair with a towel thrown over it in place of bed. Don't believe the hype

This is a great hostel as a base for visiting Havana. I stayed in the dorm which was comfortable and clean. Complimentary breakfast was plentiful. Wifi, beer, water, and soda were all offered at reasonable prices. Staff were very attentive and friendly. I would return!

Havana was amazing. Unforgettable and rich experience. Me and my friend stayed at Hostel Casa De Ania. This place was incredible amazing. The location is perfect 5min walk to malecon and 15min to the center of old Havana with all the restaurants bars. The dorms and washrooms were very clean. They have 1h free wifi from 8am to 9am, and even this might not means a lot in Europe or North America, this is huge for Cuba. It is not easy to get the internet. In fact among the research I made, this is the only hostel that offers wifi for their guests. On top of free wifi, they serve free breakfast for their guests. This is also big, cause its not easy to get a good food in Cuba, and the fact that hostel serve you a delicious breakfast, it's a big plus. The owner Ania and the entire staffers were just incredible good and helpful. They helped us book our transportation to Viñales. Amazing staffers. If you want to visit Havana, I will recommend you to stay at Casa De Ania.

Such a lovely hostel! We enjoyed our stay so much! The staff is so friendly and helpful! They helped us book a collective taxi to our next destination and also called a casa to make a reservation for us. They explained us a lot about the city, and answered every question we had. Other things that are included: Breakfast, one hour of free Wi-Fi (8-9 AM) and you can buy more if you want, cute little common area, A/C and 2 fans (private room). Showers were hot but pressure wasn't great. No kitchen as well, but you can order a dinner in the hostel if you want.

One of the cleanest and most welcoming hostels that I've ever stayed at. The staff was phenomenal and very helpful. Met so many great friends here. Best place to stay in all of Cuba

This place was horrible. Upon arrival they gave me a cartoon map and took me to a Casa Particular. The family was nice enough but they had some people coming and going and I had things go missing. Plus I booked 3 nights at Hostel Casa De Ania to meet people and plan things to do. Terrible service do not expect to have a bed in this hostel if you book ahead of time! I would have gave no stars but it will not let me.

The hostel has a good social atmosphere and is located close to the party scene of the Malecón and Calle 23. The staff, specially Amarilis, is always making their best to assure everything is perfect.
