(Translated by Google) One famous song is sung - "Cuba is far away, Cuba is nearby." So, one fine year, for us, fortunately, she was very close, moreover, for two whole weeks. We flew to the capital and the oldest city of Cuba -Havana. It was founded back in 1519. Old Havana is included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The city has many buildings from the colonial period. First of all, the El Moro fortress, built in 1589, offers a beautiful view of city; Cathedral of St. Christopher (1777); the building of the Bolshoi Theater (1838); fortress of the 16th century La Real Fuersa. The beautiful building of the Capitol where parliament sits, it is very similar to the American Capitol in Washington. The Malikon embankment stretches for 7 kilometers along the ocean, where residents of the capital and not only like to relax. It's nice to stroll along the embankment in the evening, when there is no longer the scorching sun and admire the sunset. buildings in Havana are dilapidated and in need of restoration, but on the other hand, this has its own special charm. And what cars we have seen on the roads, many are already well over 50 years old, both American and Soviet and Buicks and Muscovites. Previously, it was impossible to freely buy a car, and after the restrictions were lifted, prices for new ones were unbearable. In Havana, there are many places associated with the great American writer Ernest Hemingway. We went to the Floridita bar, where every morning the writer liked to sit with a glass of daiquiri cocktail. Cuba is bright. , an unusual country, and Cubans, despite all the difficulties of life, are cheerful, cheerful people. This sunny country, in our memories, still warms us with its warmth.

This country changes you. Makes you see things in a different way. To re-evaluate important things and people. To appreciate what matters in life. Very beautiful pictures and scenery, but people trapped in politics, without any way out. Smiling in poverty, playing music, dancing, but in the same place, every day, every season, every month, with nothing to do...

I went on a holiday to Cuba and it was a thrilling experience, I started our holiday here in Havana and I loved every second of it. The city is very old and it really is like your stepping back in time, the old 1950’s and 60’s cars along with the buildings really add a character to the city. The people in Cuba are surprisingly very welcoming and are very kind towards tourists, they will help you find your way round if you ever get lost. Another thing about Havana is the safety, I could walk on the streets at all hours and no one would look at you twice which is great. There are definitely negatives such as access to snacks and different foods at home that you can’t find in Havana. But in conclusion I would definitely visit Havana again.

We hired a driver and guide for a day trip from our resort in Jibacoa. We enjoyed the day seeing the sights. 1 day was enough for us. There are beautiful parts of Old Havana. There are also a lot of empty buildings and areas that haven’t been kept up. There is some renovations for new hotels in progress. We had lunch at a popular authentic Cuban restaurant and a drink on the roof of the hotel where Ernest Hemingway had a room. Stores and shops close early so not much to do in the evening. When traveling outside of your resort take your own toilet paper as a lot of public places don’t offer it.

My disclaimer with this post is my mobile was not on wifi most of the time I was out and about so I think these are all Old Havana but one or two may be other parts of the city. Anywho, this place will forever be special to me. One, because it was my first international travel. And two😌, because the place is special. It looks like it’s set in a time long ago. You can’t help but to see the buildings falling apart and the families clearly living there. Even so, it’s filled with hope and love. I admire their dedication to holding on the past while incorporating the future. One thing you will notice is the various forms of transportation. From horse to bike to suv. And everything in between. Yes, the old cars that you think shouldn’t work but will have you feeling like you’re in a 1950s Hollywood film. It’s magical.🥰

(Translated by Google) The historical center of Havana. Completely renovated, with its cultural contrasts. You will find historical places, beautiful architecture and you will find emblematic places like El Capitolio, El Floridita restaurants and the middle bodeguita, you can see its cathedral and several fortresses like La Punta. You ask to walk around his malecon. You found good places of restoration, for Cubans, they call them "Paladares" with very good prices and good quality.

(Translated by Google) Old Havana treasures a piece of the history of Cuba told through its buildings, museums, historical sites, cultural centers and its life in general. Founded in 1514 (initially on the south coast of the island) by the conqueror Pánfilo de Narváez (under the orders of Diego Velázquez de Cuéllar), under the founding name of Villa de San Cristóbal de La Habana, [5] was one of the first seven villas founded by the Spanish Crown on the island. Due to its privileged location, off the coast of the North Atlantic, and the characteristics of its bay, the then town became an important commercial center, which is why it was subjected to attacks and looting by pirates and privateers during the First years of the 16th century. In 1561, the Crown provides that the town be the place of concentration of the Spanish ships from the American colonies before crossing the ocean together (Fleet of the Indies), [6] therefore building, for their protection, military defenses to the entrance of the bay of Havana and in strategic places, [7] making the city one of the best defended in the New World.

Really loved Havana, or you can if you are in love with car you will be for sure in love Havana. A huge number of antique cars available in the city. Havana is really famous for car and cigar. A must visit in your private without roof car on a sunny day. After that you can have a nice lunch in Havain pub with live music.

(Translated by Google) Knowing Old Havana is one of the most interesting things I have experienced, the way of life of Cubans, contrasts, colors, architecture, a personal and cultural experience. The whole country is super safe, when I saw the pictures of Old Havana I did not imagine that I could only be in the streets at the wee hours of the morning and I would still be safe, I walked all the streets by day with only my camera and I never had problems, it's a great city.

(Translated by Google) For photography enthusiastic, Old Havana is a wonderful city. The small streets, renovated and refurbished. The restaurants, the cars and there is always something to discover. Partly romantic, partly dirty, sometimes rich, sometimes poor but always affectionate and friendly. And for a few CUC almost everything goes here. Only attention the time in Cuba and Havana is elastic, the wristwatch you can safely leave at home and the annoying look on the phone brings you here not a bit further. My insider tip "Mochito" 2 to 10 pieces gives you the necessary Caribbean serenity.

What an disappointing trip to Cuba. Food is almost non existent, except at expensive restaurants, where the quality of the food is of lowest standards. The area is in decay and garbage everywhere… buildings collapsed and left as is. IMPORTANT- USA added Cuba on terrorist list in 2021. It felt like being in a slum. There is 10% of the city that is kept neat and tidy.. Locals are harassing you to buy local currency or fake cigars or offer overpriced taxi rides. Everything feels like you are being scammed. Also be careful when entering Cuba, as you are not able to enter the USA with an ESTA visa one you visited this country. The USA added Cuba on the terrorist list in 2021… so Europeans check your entry requirements to USA after visiting Cuba, you might need a B2 visa now to enter the USA. If you ask me… just don’t go to Cuba, it’s not worth it.. unless you travel in high luxury and don’t need to see how locals live. How sad how things are getting worse here.

On the other hand, the music that comes to you from anywhere. The tranquility and security that is breathed. It's a trip to not get lost, or lose yourself in the streets of Havana. This town with its own personality was founded by a group of Cuban Indians and was developed until the Hermitage Virgen de Regla was created on March 3, 1687. (Translated by Google) It is like reliving a film from the past with the actors around you, jazz music, Son, Cha Cha, live Bolero that emanates from a thousand clubs in the narrow streets. Entering a house during a Santería party with the drums playing and the people singing and praying in an Afro-Cuban language is a unique experience. Ask permission to enter, make an offer to the Saint and the musicians, "touching a maraca" to then offer a little roon by bathing the altar and quenching the thirst of the spirits. Practically joining their group by dancing next to them, imitating their gestures, being one of them, remaining yourself but respecting their culture. Live Cuba. Vivere Cuba.

I walked a lot and never felt insecure, but it is important not to enter the streets alone by common sense. Conversation with locals are friendly people, it is a lie that the Cuban wants to take you out or ask for something, that only happens in the most crowded places and places and they are certain people. You tell them you can't and they don't ask for more. Try the local food, pizza, churros, peanuts, a coquito. Walking those streets is a delight.

On the other hand there were friendly Cubans and others who only seek you out money which happened to me several times, on the date that I had a lot of scarce resources in local, like entering an ice cream parlor and had ice cream, it cut the electricity in some local etc. The tour I took in the city were very interesting and cheap, I recommend looking for the famous palates (Restoran) which are very cheap and tasty and plentiful food.
