A wonderful place, probably my favorite place in Alexandria and one of my favorites in Egypt, it’s truly spectacular and a treasury for so many books and artifacts, it has multiple museums, exhibitions and sections, it has a planetarium as well and multiple cafes, the Sadat museum and manuscripts museum were my favorites in the library, i highly recommend visiting it.

It's a super great breathtaking library, it was a dream come true for me to visit it! The vibe is mixed, it's mostly a touristy library more than a real place to set and study, the visitors "tourists" voices are laud at the high levels of the library, but it gets quieter and quieter as you go down all the way to the "maps section". There's quite area that's useful if you want to focus on your work/studying at the "art section".. Away from the touristy area. Overall, I loved the place, and I'm definitely coming again, it's a must visit destination in Egypt !

The biggest and the largest library, as claimed, in the world. It literally lives up to this claim. A humongous library with millions and millions of books, e books, artifacts, history, pictures and what not. Their staff is amazing. It is a must visit place. Book a tour, and spend some time there. It is worth it no matter you are a library person or not.

This is one of the largest and most beautiful libraries in the world. The sheer size can only be appreciated inside. The amazing mordern architecture contrasts with the ancient sites in the area. The library is heavily used by the nearly university students.

A Must-Visit attraction in Alexandria, Global level design & innovation, great organization & service, extremely helpful staff at every corner, truly an unforgettable experience! Because of the constant stream of tourists & organized trips, they ask you to wear masks upon entry as well as see a vaccination card (a photo of it is ok as well), other than that everything went smoothly, the staff will keep you posted on instructions as you go. So many amazing things to see from original Antiquities, Scrolls, & Sculptures to modern artworks from renowned & emerging artists alike, the planetarium holds unique shows around the clock, you’ll never run out of things to see & experience!💜🤌

Absolutely incredible place! I really envy the students who get to study here on daily basis. I wish I had something like this in my city in my childhood, I would have never left it!

Very nice architecture. Also liked the museums in the lower level. Be sure to buy another ticket to visit the museum of antiquities, even though it's inside the library on the lower level

The modern Library of Alexandria is a stunning building, inaugurated in 2002. It is a revival of the ancient Library of Alexandria which was one of the largest and most significant libraries of the ancient world. It is an impressive cultural center with millions of books, manuscripts, ancient scrolls and other resources. It also has a planetarium, four museums, and several art galleries. A must visit for the history or cultural lover

Surrounded by over 2.5 m books! I couldn't believe it! Alexandria Library is one of the must-see sightseeings in Alexandria. The museum therin took us from the Ancient Egyptian era through the Ptolemaic era down to the Islamic era where we navigated through Egypt's different Chapters of History inspired by Arts, Culture, and Religion! The library has spectacular design with clear glass everywhere. Adults above 16 y can go down to where the book shelves are, while families with children below 16y are advised to stay in the upper levels, and the LG where the Museum is.

Stunning and beautiful place. A great view of the harbor. The rooms with books are closed to the tourists. Not sure what access is required to get in those. But worth a visit.

The Alexandria Library is an incredible destination that seamlessly blends history and modern knowledge. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to this renowned library, which also houses captivating museums within its premises. The library's impressive architecture pays tribute to the ancient library that once stood in Alexandria, creating a captivating atmosphere. Exploring the Alexandria Library and its accompanying museums was a delight. From the vast collection of books and resources to the fascinating exhibits in the museums, there was so much to discover. It's worth setting aside a few hours to fully immerse oneself in the wealth of knowledge and exhibits available. Whether you're a book lover, history enthusiast, or simply curious about Egypt's cultural heritage, the Alexandria Library is a must-visit destination that promises a rewarding and intellectually stimulating experience.

Cool library to see. A few museums and exhibits on display. The area can get a little crowded but definitely worth checking out for a day. Recommend the art museum downstairs. Did not get a chance to check out the actual library itself.

The largest reading hall i the world. Its a silent and powerful place at the same time. If you love history, books and architecture this is the place to start your Time in Alex. With multiple levels and sections on digital media, museum, supercomputing and books. Must visit when in Alexandria. Very lively place and amazing vibe around. Filled with laughter, happiness and knowledge.if your looking for a coffee place around, head to equador coffee which is a straight 500 mtrs from exit yard.

Personally i enjoyed the library a lot. Other than the fact that it stands where once the great library was, it is full of things to see from art pieces to exhibitions and of course a great deal of books. It is well secured and walking among the shelves in the quiet was so nice

Worth the visit especially given the historical significance. It would be nice if there was a bit of explanation. Come pre-armed with facts and knowledge.

This is one of the best places in Alexandria to come and visit if you were a fan of cultural heritage and educational outreach within the local Alexandria area. The library itself is an architectural Marvel and is just a great place to sit and have lunch at the café La Poire. If you are a student, this is a great place to study and there are a lot of books manuscripts and e-books available for the public. There is also Multiple museums and a planetarium. Be sure to visit early so that you can get tickets to have a tour. Also, this is some of the best educated staff in the area, and you can expect to see people with an all disciplines of academia on the site. The location also holds multiple conferences and lectures so be sure to check their Facebook pages for regular updates.

A must-visit because it's the Library of Alexandria! Thoughtfulness with its construction and a beautiful interior and exterior! The tour was more targeted to showcasing what exhibits and technology the library has to offer so if that's not what you're looking for it's probably easiest to just explore on your own 9/10

One of my favourite museums I’ve ever visited; it’s one of the ancient wonders of the world and is truly remarkable. The library is modern built on the same site location as the old one. It’s got lots to see and do as well has several museums located inside. It’s definitely worth visiting and something you wouldn’t want to miss when visiting Alexandria. I would love to go back someday.

It's a beautiful building. With the entry price you get a guided tour for included, but it's very simple. It's basically an orientation about the different areas and projects of the library. You also can stay at the reading area and connect to the wi-fi. If your a student you can pay the student price for one month pass. Currently in Feb-2022 the closing hours is 3:30pm.

Absolutely beautiful and amazing FR. Great experience in the main reading area, not very crowded, clean, no waiting in the tickets or entry line. but the only disadvantage is internet is not working... and this is a pretty huge deal. it's 2023 and i can't have internet in of the most popular libraries on the globe..

Google says open until 7:00 pm but actually that’s only the main library area. Children are not allowed after 4:30 pm. The museum and planetarium are open till either 4:30 or 5:00. I wasn’t sure, we got different information from different employees. To visit the planetarium, or one of 2 museums you must buy separate tickets. Even though they were only open for 30 more minutes and it was impossible for us to do both, they still sold us both tickets. Also, to enter the building you have to buy a separate ticket for the main library. So just make sure you have enough time to do what you want to do. We arrived at 3:45 and were able to see the Antiques museum with enough time but they kicked us out because we had children so we bought all these tickets but only did the museum.

It is difficult to find words to describe the architecture of the Library of Alexandria, as well as its facade, which has almost all the alphabets of the world. And you don't have a sense of how big it is until you come near it. Places with so much historical importance, one of the sights for which Alexandria is famous in the world. Unfortunately, it was Friday and we couldn't go inside, but there will be an opportunity.

A modern building that is being used as a place to study and has some locations that show old artifacts. Not really special if you ask me. Basically a modern library without any remnant to the old one. Although our guide was kind and showed us some things, nothing was noteworthy. And the story itself sounded like an automatic tape recorder

The Great Library of Alexandria in Alexandria, Egypt, was one of the largest and most significant libraries of the ancient world. The Library was part of a larger research institution called the Mouseion, which was dedicated to the Muses, the nine goddesses of the arts.[10] The idea of a universal library in Alexandria may have been proposed by Demetrius of Phalerum, an exiled Athenian statesman living in Alexandria, to Ptolemy I Soter, who may have established plans for the Library, but the Library itself was probably not built until the reign of his son Ptolemy II Philadelphus. The Library quickly acquired many papyrus scrolls, owing largely to the Ptolemaic kings' aggressive and well-funded policies for procuring texts. It is unknown precisely how many such scrolls were housed at any given time, but estimates range from 40,000 to 400,000 at its height.
