A step back in time - this hotel is charming and has a lot of history. The rooms are spacious and bright - it is worth paying a little extra to get the corner suites as you get windows on both sides. Service is friendly and professional - from reception to the cafe and housekeeping, everyone was sincere in wanting to ensure that we as tourists enjoy ourselves! It was just a pity that their rooftop restaurant was closed during our stay so we opted to have dinner outside the hotel at nearby eateries. Breakfast is served in the lobby cafe and it was substantial spread with fresh eggs cooked to your liking. The croissants are excellent! Located along the promenade, one of the downsides is that is faces the main thoroughfare so traffic noise can be a bit loud but bearable. We wished the hotel has a pool so we had somewhere to cool off after a hot day pounding the streets sightseeing. Overall, we had a nice time here and I would recommend the hotel (but just don’t expect a pool!)

I stayed here for one night with my mom and we had a great stay. The place is very charming and well maintained, and we loved the antiques. The room was really nice spacious and the view was absolutely incredible. The breakfast selection was decent and the staff were helpful. 4 starts instead of 5 because I did need to ask to swap out the towels since I saw little stains on them. And I saw a spot of the duvet cover as well. Not a big deal, and they made the swaps right away, but I just wish they had caught that sort of thing beforehand. I would just note that it may not be the best location for light sleepers. Since we asked for a sea-view room, the traffic right below the window was a bit noisy (they seem to really love using their horns in Egypt). It wasn’t too bad for us though, and the windows really cut down on a lot of it. When we turned on the AC, it blocked out most of the street noise.

One of the most mythical hotels i have ever been to. It takes you back in time in history.. it is well suited in the heart of Alexandria, tells you literally everything about itself and the city too. From time of Wars and Peace Sitting in its rooms and watching the city flowing right beneath you it's just a mind and heart opening.. it has a strong energy that place. Makes it really one of the best places in Alexandria if not the best with no doubt Their staff is very professional and presentable. I booked a solo room they gave me a beautiful room with a great view. The view speaks of itself already.. and the food. Steigenberger signature everywhere is their food variety and quality Overall you can't find anything that matches that hotel in Alexandria every inch is a story. Thank you for such beauty 😍

This is a charming hotel located along the Corniche Coast. We did not stay here for the night but we just visited the restaurant for a small snack. It’s a very charming and elegant hotel that takes you back in colonial English times . Almost everything has a feel and vibe of the British tines from the menu to the furniture to the hotel layout. The staff were also very polite and hospitable. The view of the Mediterranean from the hotel’s restaurant was amazing and I am sure the sea view from the hotel rooms would also be as spectacular.

Stayed for a night and sharing the experience here. The hotel is beautiful and the location is great however 1. When we arrived the lift wasn't working and there was an issue with the electricity and they had to take the stairs (not very nice especially for old people) 2. The hotel claimed there was no breakfast included and when I got in touch with the agency that I booked with they confirmed it's with breakfast and contacted to hotel which claimed "there is a technical issue with reservations and they're unable to retrieve the reservation full details". 3. A pair of trousers disappeared from the room.. So I would definitely question safely leaving your stuff in the room. Overall they liked the stay but I think the hotel falls short in terms of service and safety of belongings.

A great hotel at a fantastic location. The rooms are clean and equipped with everything that a guest might need. Moreover they are spacious and can accommodate a working desk, a sofa and two chairs for reading a book or a newspaper. The service is awesome and every single person is eager to help and find a solution. Special credits to Nagham for her assistance. Finally it is in a key position and from it you can easily walk to most of the attractions like the Library of Alexandria, the Pompeii pillar etc.

The whole experience was amazing. It is a hotel with a history, a unique location and a breathtaking view. The staff are friendly and professional- always obliging and offering help. The rooms are always spotless, and are beautifully furnished. The atmosphere is homely and warm. The breakfast is great with huge variety and good quality fresh food. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Alexandria.

Great hospitality, Beautiful vintage rooms & suites, cleanliness is highly considered. A lot of varieties of food in the breakfast. The view of the sea view rooms is wonderful. I highly recommend this hotel. I only recommend them to pay more attention to the usage of the elevator by the housekeeping especially during the breakfast hours as this causes some delay to the guests and isn’t nice.

Cicil has been our choice for the last couple of years. staff are friendly and professionals, the rooms are comfortable, and it’s good value for money. the restaurant is being renovated so temporary there wasn’t the regular sea view breakfast, but the open buffet was diverse, in good quality, and they had soy milk. our room was direct sea view which is always lovely. My only problem was the noise, we were allocated a room on the first floor, which was very noisy because of the closeness to the street, I had to put earplugs.

Steignerberger Cecil Alexandria is one of the good hotels at Alexandria. It has a great location at the center of the city, you can be in any place in 20 min by car. The hotel is overlooking the Mediterranean sea, it has a breathtaking view! It is one of the historical renovated hotels, you can smell the scent of the history in this place. It was built last century 1920s I believe. The people there are extremely friendly, but I think it out of search for tips before seeking to provide a good quality service. The rooms have authentic historical interior and furniture, I liked it. The point is the scent of the rooms is not very nice and it is not very clean but I believe it is very much related to the nature of the furniture and interior. The towels should be replaced with new ones, it is white but the traces of long time usage are still there. I had breakfast there, and it was good. I recommend this hotel for a short vacation/ business trips.

It’s a lovely hotel, their customer service is excellent. If you have a car the hotel doesn’t have its own parking area but there is a parking space in front of the hotel. The view is out of that world should you be in a sea side room view.

Very central located when visiting Alexandria, helpful staff management, especially the receptionists. The interior is amazing and so are the rooms. The Downside is its a very old hotel with an old drainage system that occasionally stinks up the room, but the rooms are spacious, comfortable clean beds and splendid view. We did enjoy our stay here and we shall definitely come back. Kudos to the entire team.

I visited the Steinberger in Alexandria January 2024 with my mother on a trip we booked to Egypt from the USA. We picked it because it was close to the water and we liked the historical significance. The first thing I have to comment on is the service. The entire staff was incredible. Possibly the best service I’ve ever had in the hotel. I felt like I didn’t even have to lift a brow to have people running over to ask me if I needed anything. Also, we had booked this location in Alexandria before going on a longer tour starting in Cairo. We weren’t sure what we were going to do and a lot of the options online were limited to single day trips from Cairo. The women at the concierge desk helped book local massages that were a great local, traditional experience, a driver, and an incredible guide, who put together the tour of the locations we wanted to see. I felt safe and taken care of, and it was such a wonderful experience. The food was also amazing. The hotel is historical so it has that feeling, but the rooms are very nice, and it was neat to see some of the historical elements. Highly recommend, if you’re looking for something special.

This is an outstanding hotel. Abraam the front desk was very professional and welcoming. Actually all the staff was amazing and you feel the team spirit. The room was very clean. The hotel itself is beautiful. Can't ask for more. Thanks for making our stay very enjoyable.

The best part is the hospitality and the premium service offered by all the staff. They make you feel so special. They admiringly go out of their way to provide you with the best accommodation experience. Everything as just perfect!!

Historical building with nice well-kept interiors. I experienced some issues with mixing water in the shower - there was only hot water, there is no way you can have it warm. The lady on the reception doesn’t even seem interested in me. First day she gave me a twin room (I am a solo traveler and it was obvious I came alone, also they had a room with double bed!), the next I needed to extend my stay and she almost charged me twice. For 4 star hotel the reception should be more attentive and welcoming. The breakfast could be improved too. Despite all mentioned issues, the hotel is probably one of the best deals you can make in Alexandria. Wish this hotel will only improve and become the real gem of they fix all of above.

A wonderful hotel. Super friendly staff, clean rooms and delicious breakfast. An easy access to all the points of interest in Alexandria. The best hotel for a nostalgic trip 🥰 No pool nor a beach access - no problem for me 👌 Keep it up 👍

First class hotel. Everyone is friendly and helpful. Fantastic breakfast with perfectly cooked omelettes. I went to get milk for my cereal and was told they’d bring it to me. Went to get orange juice and they insisted on pouring it. You’re treated like royalty. It’s spotless and has a feel of a hotel from an old movie from the past.

Wonderful Historic hotel in a fantastic location. Service is amazing. Beds are very comfortable and great views. Tub showers were definitely built for people with smaller feet making it difficult to stand flat but otherwise very glad I stayed here.

When you step into this hotel, you step back in time! This hotel is part of the Steigenberger chain. This hotel is so classic but has modern amenities! The basic room is a bit plain in design but everything else is good. Just parking was a problem.

The hotel is in a beautiful location placed in the heart of Alexandria over looking the grand Citadel, with it's remarkable and lavish decore echoing the soul of the historic coastal city. The service, food, and rooms were all at an incredible standard, and I hope to visit the hotel again in the future. Thank you to all the stuff members and Nagham for their delightful manners.

Nice hotel. A perfect blend of ageless and modern. Felt like we were living in affluent new York of Titanic times withe the classic woodwork and old fashioned lift. Comfortable rooms and very friendly staff. Ibrahim was really great catering to our every need at breakfast. The view of the sea was superb

Beautiful, beautiful hotel. This is our third day here and we are really enjoying our stay. The view from the our room is breathtaking, the service is exceptional, the breakfast is amazing. All the staff I dealt with are pleasant and helpful, front desk, housekeeping and dining room, Amr at breakfast was so helpful. Looking forward to the rest of our stay and to many more visits to this special hotel.

As usual Cecil is Cecil, always worth a visit. A couple of days there change the mood. One feels, good, pampered and blessed. Hospitality is first grade. Five star advanced training of staff is obvious, however, what’s more important is that all the staff are genuine when offering help, assistance or service. We came before and we will of course come again.

We stayed in Alexandria for 3 nights, we arrived very late the first night and the hotel was very communicative to ensure they were aware of our late arrival time. The staff were incredibly attentive and nice. We specifically want to thank Samiia, our house keeper/cleaner, who made sure we had every thing we needed, and went out to her way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The morning breakfast buffet is perfect, and the location is right across from the water front to walk along. In between the beautiful library and the fort. Very comfortable!

Wonderful, historic hotel. Rooms are clean and spacious. We had a room facing the Mediterranean which was a joy. There are lots of Victorian details, including beautiful chandeliers, woodwork and a old-fashioned elevator. Breakfast was amazing, with ample selection, the best coffee we have had on the trip and delicious falafel.

  • 3/5 Rogier van den B. 5 months ago on Google
The hotel’s staff are fantastic. The rooms are good. But the location, if you are thinking of walking along the boulevard to, say, the library or the qaytbay, is problematic because of the traffic. It is very difficult just to cross the road. The whole waterfront is actually rundown, with many beautiful old buildings falling into ruins. Sad indictment of Alexandria’s urban management.

I visited Alexandria for a weekend and am glad I stayed at the Steigenberger Cecil. I would definitely stay here again for a short trip. The front desk manager was astounding! His generosity of spirit and customer focus offer a refreshing change in these frazzled times. The rooms are small, but clean and well maintained. Breakfast is absolutely commendable. Good value for solo traveler.

This hotel measures up to International standards. The hotel staff (cleaning, restaurant, and reception) are VERY professional, friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean, updated and comfortable. The location downtown makes it easy to move around. I suggest using the hotel taxi which is reasonable, and wait for you at the local sites to bring you back. We will always use this hotel from now. Thank you for a great visit.

When you feel more relaxation, warmth and caring than you would ever expect from a respectable senior family, your stay will be more than charming. As a matter of fact the fruitful precious staff whether all my friends in front office or Hk, Kitchen, ….. In addition to the hidden soldiers "reservation staff", were and will remain the reason for the success of this great entity. Thank you and appreciate your efforts.

Stayed here in early March, 2022. Very nice grand old style hotel. Staff was very nice. The bartender was especially nice one evening to singlehandedly serve our unexpectedly large group. Room was comfortable, but not overly spacious. The A/C unit in the room was noisy and had very bright lights that interrupted our sleep. The hotel is located with views of the Mediterranean Sea. But it is on a very busy road with a lot of cars honking their horns until very late.

  • 5/5 Manal F. 2 years ago on Google
Extremely friendly and professional staff, by staff I mean everyone the bell captain, the reception, the banquet, the security, the chef. Food is tasty and the presentation of the food is appealing. The hotel is at the center of the city, located in downtown which gives you the ability to walk in the middle of the city of Alexandria a lot of shops around, restaurants, and a lot of authentic shops. About the view from the sea view or sea side view rooms it is spectacular. So much recommended!

By far this is the best hotel we’ve been to. I can’t possibly explain how friendly, welcoming and very considerate the staff is. From the reception, housekeeping and the restaurant staff. All amazing and incredible. My sister was celebrating her birthday while we stayed there and they made it extra extra special. Special thanks to Ms Nagham, Metre Mohamed and Mohamed Moustafa. Thank you All.

Superb!!! Everything is wonderful. From the warm welcome at the gate, the cheerful smile the bellman gave us, the very helpful receptionist who accommodated our search for a wonderful room, the tasty delicious breakfast, the magnificent sea view, the cleanliness every single housekeeping has strived to achieve, I cannot forget the elevators my parents used 50 years ago while having their honeymoon!!! Everyone made his or her very best to make our stay a wonderful one! Everything is special and everyone treats you as the most special guest in the hotel. Thanks Cecil Team!!!

Great Hotel,, a scene from the Golden ages, starting from the lobby, to the elevator & the general architecture. The view is great, the cafe overlooking the sea, the staff were very friendly & helpful. A little pricey but that was expected

Had a wonderful stay in early November 2021. Charming old hotel with a great location on the Alexandria corniche. Rooms are generously sized and the staff is very kind, especially the bellhops and the dining room staff. The breakfast was varied and tasty, and it was served in a beautifully-appointed dining room on the ground floor. Looking forward to another stay in the future.

Very nice hotel. Among my favorites of the Steigenbegrer chain, however the management are not accommodating or understanding or respectful of TIME. Calling guests at MULTIPLE TIMES at 4am and giving a different change rate that turns out different in the morning. Not very nice. Please work on CUSTOMER SERVICE

The location, view, and nostalgic value that this hotel holds is amazing. Probably one of the best ways to experience Alexandria. Breakfast was great, the rooms were clean and well maintained, and the staff was incredible. The only trouble is the night club is a bit too loud, affected comfort of the night. So ask for a room in a top floor.

The staff is fantastic! Very welcoming with lots of smile. Hamdy, the restaurant attendant (who is training) was very attentive & respectful. Our room was clean & updated although water pressure was light for showing. The location is right on the Mediterranean with lots of city activity all around.

This is a sublime, mythic hotel that entices you with its old world charm, it's beguiling and mysterious history graced by Churchill and Om Khatoum. But it does rest on its splendid history. The elegant and gracious service is reminiscent of the old Grand Hotels. The decor, the food and the beverages are chosen with the utmost taste and sophistication. It is a delight from beginning to end. Every member of the staff was attentive and pleasant making our stay relaxing and comfortable. Plus, they have well organized plugs, outlets, and modern conveniences without sacrificing the historical design and feeling. This hotel inspires your imagination and wraps you in the history of the magnificent city.

Definitely on the pricey side for a 4 star hotel in Egypt, not sure that filing the hotel with groups at rock-bottom prices and charging independent travellers over the odds is a recipe for long-term success... Staff are very friendly and keen to do their best. Rooms are large but sound-proofing should be improved upon. : the square and the sea promenade are very noisy. The breakfast is excellent, great choice and very efficient coffee/drinks service.
