Very beautiful Cathedral and the most important one in Alexandria and Egypt as it’s the place of the pope of Alexandria and it’s founded by Mark the Evangelist, i do recommend visiting it and spend some calm and peaceful time there.

Beautiful church... we have to go through three checkpoints to enter. It seems like an over kill. And yes they do keep the passport or VISA card whichever you have. It would be best if you bring a photocopy and they are ok to keep that instead.

Very beautiful church we visited in 2020 during our tour of the city. I never knew Coptic Christian meant Egyptian Christain. The tour guide explained a little bit of the history of the Apostle Mark and how the Church came to be built. A hidden gem in the city for Christian followers to see and experience. But also for other peoples of different faiths as the Church is splendid.

Cathedral of Coptic orthodox church in Alexandria .. Huge beautiful place containing the shrine of Saint Mark where his skull was buried. It is one of the oldest churches in the world. It has lots of beautiful paintings .. It is situated in a very busy area in Alexandria so parking your car is very difficult.

The first church built in Egypt. The St. Mark cathedral is built over what was originally the first church in Egypt established by St. Mark himself. It now has St Mark's body including his head which was previously stolen and smuggled and ended up in Venice, Italy till it was returned to Egypt during the time of Pope Kirolos. The cathedral is truly a remarkable and spirtual place and now serves the coptic people of down town Alexandria.

Nice place. We went there the first time and they wanted to keep out passports at the entrance. We thought that was weird so we didnt go in. Then we found out about the bomb attacks and understood the passport thing and went back. Nice attraction

Interesting place, but they take away your passport on the entrance. Don't forget to put on smth covering legs (no shorts allowed). No photo.

Tourists must leave their passports behind with a Police officer, for some reason all churches in Cairo are protected. We are allowed only to take outside pictures.
