A small restaurant which unless you are looking for it you cannot find it, yet it is hidden in plain sight just like any treasure. This place has by far the best breakfast/brunch I have eaten in any of the many countries I have traveled in. The food is amazing, a complex of multiple flavors, perfect seasoning of everything right down to the simple slice of toast. Creamy scrambled eggs perfectly seasoned along with the perfect Pizza Toast rich in crispiness and perfect seasoning. The coffee is otherworldly. They roast their own beans and they managed to create flavored coffee with multiple flavors. My personal favorite was the Irish Cream flavor. Works so well in an Americano, keeping it light and giving you the caffeine dose you need. I not only highly recommend you dine in here, but dine in here every time you are in Lisbon because it is worth it. The price is worth it compared to any Western Country. You get more than what you are spending. I dare compare the style of cooking to Michelin Star flavors and perfection of the dishes themselves. The waitress was incredibly nice and friendly and that also says a lot.

Great, simple food for breakfast Lovers. I came in with a hope for a good, filling breakfast before my flight and was not disappointed. Had a chorizo scrambled eggs which were fine and a granola with fruit. Coffee was great too. Overall I would like to point out that they decorate each dish with balsamic like it’s the 90s again, the salad with scrambled eggs wasn’t even cut there - it was store bought cut, but overall the flavor was there in the eggs (maybe on the dry side) and in the custom Made yogurt. The price was on a higher side too. Maybe if you’d like to eat a European easy breakfast I would recommend it, however if you’re after more authentic experience this is not a place for you. The service was amazing tho. Waitresses always smiling and helped each customer with their needs while I was there.

When you find a restaurant on Google with a 5 star review you want to check it out. We did that, and I would give more stars if possible. This place is out of this world. I never had such a good Chai Latte tea before, and the quality of the food is outstanding! We went back the next day for breakfast, and I highly recommend the French toast. I have no words to describe this delicious treat! And last but not least, the staff is so kind! They took the time for a nice chat, and when the kitchen staff heard we would go to the Azores after our visit to Lisbon, we received some written recommendations for the islands. Just don't skip this restaurant during your visit to Lisbon. You won't regret it!

Not going to lie, I had low expectations of this place as it looked like yet another overpriced western cafe in Lisbon, but the food surpassed my expectations. The scrambled eggs must be one of the best I’ve ever had. The coffee was delicious too! My husband ordered the pancakes and chocolate milkshake and really liked it too. The space itself is small and a bit crowded, but it is worth it. The service was kind and attentive. Food came out pretty fast. If you’re trying to pick breakfast in Alfama/Bairro Alto I highly recommend Tanoa. These girls have something special! So so good!!

This was one of the most incredible cafes I’ve ever been to! The food was amazing, delicious and fresh - we had the avocado toast, several scrambled egg dishes, and a sandwich. The coffee was DELICIOUS - roasted in house and brewed perfectly. I always ordered a cappuccino and was delighted at the perfect ratio. The juices were wonderful as well, such a good fresh taste. But best of all, the proprietor and all of the staff are so kind, friendly, welcoming. Truly going above and beyond. I love this place and will recommend it to anyone! We were lucky enough to stay just a few blocks from this place so we could go every morning, but it certainly pulls its weight as a destination breakfast spot. I couldn’t ask for a better way to start the morning, between the good food and the great people. I miss this place so much already!

We found this place after being ignored at a previous cafe and going to find something else. I’m so glad we happened to find this cafe, it was amazing. The food and coffee was amazing and very reasonably priced. But the best part was how friendly the people were. Our server went out of their way to recommend a bunch of places to visit during our stay in Lisbon, they were great! I couldn’t recommend a cafe more than this one.

This is such a cute place. The food and drinks were amazing. The acai bowl was the best I’ve had and this is coming from a person who gets acai bowls every week. Our avocado toast was really good as well. The owner was really nice and attentive. She gave us a list of restaurant recommendations that she personally tried and liked so that we can check out. The music choice was the icing on the cake also. Everything was perfect here. I’d def recommend if you visit Lisbon!

Lovely little cafe with more UK/US style breakfasts. As its a very small space you may have to wait a little bit for a table at busy times. Very good English spoken here. Food was very decorative and tasty. It also van get quite hot in there and not for you if you want to sit outside!

Strolled in for brunch and was not disappointed. Had the avocado toast with scrambled eggs with a cappuccino and both were delicious. The ambiance and service were really great. Love that you could also leave a note on the walls :)

I have never seen a restaurant more deserving of 5 stars. The food was indulging in all the right ways. The French toast was the best French toast I’ve ever had. The smoothie was just as impressive, both in presentation and flavor. The service is quick and the waiters are incredibly attentive. This hole in the wall is worth the visit and worth any wait. They ask what music you’d like to listen to and they notify you when the bathroom is available for you to use. The waiters are so kind and conversational. If I’m ever back in Lisbon, I would definitely pay this place another visit.

We visited Lisbon in October for our wedding. We arrived early in the morning with a lot of luggage and wanted to grab a quick bit to eat, and that's when we stumbled across Tanoa Cafe. It's a small hole in the wall brunch spot with amazingly tasty food, coffee, and drinks. We were going to wait to meet our airbnb host to put our bags and dress and suit away before eating but the staff at Tanoa greeted us with so much warmth and hospitality and they helped find space for all of our luggage. I can not say enough how much we loved all the wonderful young men and women working there. They were so lovely and kind. When we told them we were getting married, they went above and beyond and got us drinks and wrote on our glasses, "Mr and Mrs," and were genuinely excited about our plans. The food is another thing. It was some of the best breakfast we had, and we are both very big breakfast people. I honestly can't say enough wonderful things about this place. The location is central and the prices are great too. Thank you to everyone at Tanoa Cafe for starting our trip off on such a high note.

Nice little charming find just around the Rua da Rosa. Would recommend it, the food is of good quality well priced and not a touristy place. The staff is what I would say is the best part of this place, they made it very enjoyable and would go again! The food is the Eggs Classic and Eggs Florentine (really highly recommend) with salmon on the side:) They have and amazing Rose Chai Latte that is divine ✨totally worth the try

Really delicious food, friendly staff, great atmosphere. They recommended an interactive museum to visit in Lisbon, and cared so much about getting every order perfectly. Highly recommend to anyone who loves a good coffee, eggs Benedict, avocado, cheese toasts, etc. 😉😌

We had breakfast here twice (big breakfast haha). We were three and we really LOVED it!! Everything is beautiful and very very very good 🤤, plentiful and tasty (we had trouble finishing our plate of pancakes today haha). The atmosphere is colorful, you can leave a note on the walls/tables and a music recommendation ☺️. Big favorite ❤️, the team is adorable, really thank you very much, Tanoa Café is an incredible place 🫶🏻. I know where to have breakfast in Lisbon ☺️.

Best Avocado-Sandwhich ever!

Totally deserves the 577+ 5 star google reviews as of Sept 30, 2023. Service was warm, friendly, yet highly competent and attentive. Food and drinks were really enjoyable to both look at and gobble up. Love the crowdsourced colorful decor.

Delicious food and excellent service. Our waitress was Deliyan and she was very friendly and helpful during our visit. She helped us go through the menu and decide what to eat based on our dietary requirements. The food was delicious and we can’t wait to come again!

Wonderful place for brunch in Lisbon. The atmosphere was cosy and the staff were extremely nice and welcoming. We tried avocado toast, NY bagel, toast with ham and cheese and some blueberry pancakes - everything was amazing. They were out of mimosas for the day and we tried other really good cocktails. If you go near their closing time they might be out of some things in the menu as they keep ingredients only for the day, however they are very helpful and can help you find a good substitute 😊

Went for breakfast with my dog. The owner directly offered some meat for my dog as a treat. The service was amazing, such friendly people and the food, especially the vegan toast, was the best breakfast I've had so far. Fresh ingredients and amazingly spiced. Highly recommended for Lisbon. I will definitely come back. Just amazing.

We had a really good time eating breakfast in the cafe. The staff were very kind, helpful, welcoming and attentive. They were nicest staff we met on our trip to Portugal. The food was delicious and I would really recommend this cafe.

Such a great café to eat breakfast! We had the avocado and egg toast with smoked salmon, and the royal eggs Benedict with fried bacon - they were both delicious. The serving was great as well, it feels like a top class chef prepared it. The food was served very quickly and the service was very good. We also tries the pink Chai latte - it was very good! Well definitely come again.

A small place with huge appeal! The engaging and very friendly team meant I had a wonderful breakfast here. The Royal Eggs Benedict was the most creative I have ever had, and was delicious. I don’t normally have flavoured coffee, but the Gingerbread Latte would have me coming back for more. There are pens at your table, so don’t forget to contribute to the art on the walls!

This place was so cute and fun! I got the chorizo scrambled eggs and the California eggs. You will definitely not leave hungry. The coffee and lemonade were also wonderful. The vibes were also great. The service was wonderful and you got to draw on the wall. Definitely a great breakfast spot!

Tanoa Cafe is breakfast nirvana, a sensory delight that has profoundly redefined what a morning meal should be. Their Egg's Benedict, a marquee dish, sends your taste buds on a gastronomic expedition. It is prepared to perfection, with flawlessly poached eggs, expertly toasted English muffins, and a Hollandaise sauce so divine it must be a secret gift from the culinary gods. The cafe is bustling with an irresistible energy that feels like a warm hug from an old friend. It's a combination of the soulful music humming from the speakers, the laughter and friendly chatter, and the intoxicating smell of fresh coffee. This space is more than just a cafe; it's an experience. But what truly separates Tanoa Cafe from its counterparts is the staff. Each server is a beacon of friendliness, greeting everyone with genuine warmth and smiles that can brighten even the cloudiest day. They are efficient without rushing, making everyone feel valued and appreciated. Not to mention, they are remarkably easy on the eyes, a veritable ensemble of beauties that adds an aesthetic appeal to the entire Tanoa experience. Tanoa Cafe is a testament to the magic that can be created when passion for food, love for people, and respect for quality ingredients converge. It's more than worth a visit—it's an essential stop on any culinary tour. And who knows? It might just become your new favorite breakfast spot.

Very friendly and warm service, and a fun decor, if a bit over-the-top. The coffees were okay (a bit too weak for our tastes) but the staff very kindly added an extra shot of espresso to my black coffee, which made it much better. Full marks for service.

AMAZING PLACE! I feel that there are a lot of mediocre brunch places in Lisbon but this is by far the best! We had Royal eggs Benedict and it was one of the best ones I’ve tried + salted caramel French toast 🤤 The staff was so so so kind and very attentive. We live here but no one hardly asks us where we are from because probably most of ppl are from outside of Portugal. The staff guy was so friendly and made the whole experience even better. We will definitely come back!

Absolutely adorable. AMAZING FOOD! Great options for vegetarians and cold coffee which can be hard to find. The staff is so sweet! Come a little early or make a reservation, it fills up fast!

Small cute brunch place but so amazing, both food and drinks. The staff is so nice and welcoming and will help you with recommendations. The Pizza Toast actually tastes like pizza and is so soft. The california eggs Benedict was my least favorite; too saucy. The salmon toast and classic eggs Benedict were both delicious. The detox juice was great and the iced latte excellent. Will certainly go back!
