Most interesting presentation of the Cathedral and it's short history. Fascinating Northern Lights display in the basement. Warm and welcoming on a cold winters day.

Really beautiful church, from the outside as well as the inside. The price is also not too expensive to enter. Definetly worth a short visit.

Fascinating cathedral that goes out of the ordinary. A must visit in Alta. We only got the chance to see the interior of the church thanks to the responsible person arranging for out of hours entrance, thank you for that!

A very modern building which represents the Aurora Borealis and clad in to titanium tiles on the outside. The inside has lighting on the walls that look like the Aurora. Quite stark inside but we'll worth a visit.

Our tour group had the most amazing guide. She explained so many features of the building that were fascinating

We took a tour of the cathedral arranged by our cruise ship. Videos of aurora in the basement and history and construction of the cathedral in the main hall. Titanium is used for the siding as it is maintenance free. The cathedral walls are solid concrete which is not good for sound. So vertical straps are attached to the wall and moveable wooden panels in the ceiling to enable good acoustics for concerts held there.

Fanastic Cathedral, views inside are amazing. Such an unusual design made out of Concrete, but dont let that deter you. For inside theres a coffee/ tea stall run by volunteers , and for the inside its breathtaking. Worth visiting.

It is a unique cathedral at the very top of the world. Absolutely awesome to see it surrounded by prestine white snow. The golden statue of Jesus looking upwards is very different and so is Jacob's ladder. A bit unusual to pay to go into a place of worship.

The Northern Lights Cathedral was built in 2013 and is a focal point for concerts and local events as well as housing the Lutheran Cathedral. In the basement there is a Northern Lights exhibition that has a photogenic film and the process by which the lights form is described. The church is stunning with a statue of Christ looking up - a symbol of hope for the future. The walls are reminiscent of the lights - but are also designed to improve the acoustics. There is a small cafe and toilets and everything is accessible with lifts. Just outside there is a shopping mall as well as a swimming pool - indoor of course. In Norway all doors are kept shut - so shops and indoor facilities are less obvious than they are in the UK.

Beautifully designed cathedral of the northern lights. Welcoming, nice cafe run by volunteers, great film about the lights, and information display. A must see for Alta, Norway visitors. Opens 11am for couple hours.

The 'Northern Lights Cathedral,' again somewhat interesting ecclesiastical architecture in the North—& contrary to Tromsø's Ishavskatedralen, entry was free (actually, I don't know this, but guy at entrance didn't charge me anything. Bought a coffee, tho, as the rain set in). From religulous belief to reason & science: UiT Norges Arktiske Universitet right opposite the church via the pedestrian precinct—the funny guy at the church told me on this remark that they have a 'reason & science section' somewhere in the basement, too... I didn't check it out, though.

One of the most beautiful cathedrals I’ve ever seen in Norway. Extremely gorgeous in the winter and well located in the city. We were lucky to hear mass in Norwegian and it was amazing. A very well designed structure and impressive too.

A chatedral is a great museum and an example of aurora in her building shape and elements inside it. Nice inside the church with beautiful examples of things shaped acording to the notheren lights. The best experience is the film in the basement. Worth visiting

This Lutheran Church (official religion in Norway) presents a very beautiful architectural project, celebrating the the northern lights on the privileged city of Alta.

We visited this Cathedral in a dead winter time which was 12 degrees below zero! The church was surrounded by snow made the church looks more peaceful and beautiful! There are also ice sculptures displayed at the ramps into the church! Inside the church also very nice and very Scandinavian! Acoustic sound also amazing! Wish one day to come back to enjoy the sound of the organ music playing here!

What a fantastic piece of architecture. This cathedral is one of the best I have seen, inside and out. Outside can be viewed from all around, and makes a pleasant walk. Inside is just stunning. So much goes into one buildings interior. Have only saw it in the snow, which is brilliant. But a trip to see in in the summer is now a must. Highly recommended anyone a visit.

The cathedral itself is small but the appearance is quite unique. The interior is beautiful from the blockwood used in the floor to the northern lights depiction on the walls. Well worth a visit we enjoyed our visit, if it's busy inside just sit a while wait for it to quieten down to fully appreciate it's beauty and serenity.

Futuristic cathedral remembers me the Guggenheim museum’s architecture style. The entrance is expensive. Around 50 Krone

The architecture of the building is very interesting. The interior of the cathedral itself has some interesting elements, such as Jacob's Ladder or the unique sculpture of Christ, but it is not something that causes a WOW reaction. The part of the exhibition under the cathedral is much more interesting, telling about the history of research and observation of the aurora borealis. Scientific explanations and visualizations of the Northern Lights effect. The exhibition is accompanied by a 10-minute film (small cinema) showing the most interesting shots of the phenomenon of the Northern Lights.

It is certainly an interesting building but there's not so much to see there - 5 euros for taking a look into a church (20 for our family) did seem too much. As a Christian i always appreciate a possibility to have a moment in churches on the road also to get a connection with the local christian community. This church feels more like a tourist trap.

Very beautiful and nice place. We went around the cathedral at our visit in Norway and take nice pictures. Awesome building architecture! After that we go to the nearby grocery store.

Loved this tour, very interesting learning how the Cathedral was built, the lady tour guide was very good at explaining why they used titanium for the outside & beautiful wood inside. Really worth a visit.

👍 A piece of history. Something should be learnt from the past but yet mankind has not. It was a mixed feeling to see the photos from the past and then go outside into the sun light and see the same surroundings. Worth to visit.

👍👍 Amazing half day trip. The doggies are super energetic, very cute and playful. The staff was very friendly and flexible with us. They adjust the speed to how well things are going. The loop takes about 2 hours and is very scenic. Could do this for an entire week, so much fun! Would highly recommend
