👍 I do agree with most reviews on here and with word inside the club the manager does need to leave but one point I do not agree with is reviewing the country club as a 1 star. One person should not be the reason why the other staff and the club is rated so poor. Yes she needs to go and I hear word... People often mention staff, facilities, nice, massage, fantastic, experience, time, club, pool, broken,

I do agree with most reviews on here and with word inside the club the manager does need to leave but one point I do not agree with is reviewing the country club as a 1 star. One person should not be the reason why the other staff and the club is rated so poor. Yes she needs to go and I hear word that she is in the pipeline to leave but the country club deserves the 4/5 stars. The gym is great except the old rowing machines and the spa is fantastic except from the slippery smelly stairs. I recommend experiencing this place but try to steer clear of Alex.

HCC should be renamed The Failed Country Club. This used to be an AMAZING CLUB. THG have little money and are refusing to reinvest in a tatty, falling apart at the seams establishment. Thermal facilities are inefficient or are broken. Broken showers, broken drinking water taps, falling apart staircases, constantly broken Gym equipment, broken lifts. No adequate exercise classes for men, no punching bag. The consequential member ambience and experience is not good. HCC are penalising existing members by raising the membership fees to £155/month? For what? Management could not have a care in the world. Members are leaving by the dozens. Please do not pay this institution your hard earned money when you are just a number, which they care little about.

Love the place but the members are so stubborn and the manager is too. Great place, wrong location. Its too close to the council estates for that luxury feel. For that reason I would say it’s in the same group as the other lower class gyms

The club has gone downhill since last year-facilities break and aren’t fixed for weeks/months. Twice this week the showers have all been cold, the pool was closed for months, simple spa facilities like the drinking water have been out for weeks. I’ve been trying to email the manager since the start of September but I never get a response and I don’t have time to carry on complaining so I’ve given up, they obviously aren’t interested!

Went from £90 to £150 via 3 memberships increases in under 18 months. Sooo many things are broken and the general response is "yeh, someone's looking into it" with no improvement made after several months/years. Even with relatively simple fixes like working showers. The lift is always out of order and the only reason they're fixing the stairs is because someone seriously injured themselves. Lack of alternative options keeps this place in business.

Disappointing experience overall. Went here for the afternoon for a spa treatment and lunch. The spa treatment was excellent, no complaints and would recommend. However using the spa facilities was disappointing, the infinity pool was nice but when you looked over the spillover the bottom was filled with empty plastic glasses/cups/bottles. There is also a seated area in there which had empty plastic bottles lying around, we were there for 4 hours and they weren't cleared away. The food was also disappointing, I had the chicken burger, checked the menu and no mention of sauce on the burger, when it arrived both brioche buns were smothered in mayonnaise, the worst of all sauces to have on a burger. No one checked if we were happy with the meal, which is pretty basic customer care in the food industry. I should not have to chase round looking for staff, not at the prices this place charges. Overall a disappointing experience, but the treatment I went there to have was fantastic.

I wouldn't recommend for a spa day, or any of their spa packages altogether. It's very basic, the spa isn't as awe-inspiring as the photos depict. It's an average health club with a gym, lounge/bar area and a small space which offers a pool and 3 extra (that actually work - 4/6) facilities. It took a couple months (yes, really) to get in touch with someone on the desk, despite numerous calls and emails during that period - we booked for August on a Sunday and started enquiries (as a group of 5) in June. They charge an extra £20 (on top of the £260) for non-members which is absurd for the service and facilities overall. The food - namely sushi and peppers - cold and tasted like pieces of rubber atop of 3 day old dehydrated rice! Tesco does better sushi, if that's not indicative of quality then I don't know what more to say! Horrendous, surprised they were even on the menu being served, let alone recommended by the young lady taking our order. Overall, I would highly recommend people STEER CLEAR of this place and book elsewhere. Like an ACTUAL spa. I don't understand how they have been featured in online edits - have to have been paid ads as it’s owned by the THG group. Ironically, we were asked about our experience on exit, a polite but informative critique by our group was shrugged off with silence and an unbothered eye roll. Surprising! Massage - 2/5 Spa facilities - 2/5 Food - 0/5

The staff are so moody. The chef is constantly smoking outside. The restaurant has gone downhill since ownership changed. Management need to take a look into this. It’s not hard to smile once in a while.

Booked for our wedding anniversary, including massage. First time for my husband. Unfortunately we didn't share a room like I thought we would as my room was next to an empty bed, but not a big enough deal to query. I had the Hale signature massage and he had the deep tissue. Mine was nice, the oil I chose had lavender in it and the scent was so lovely and calming. The massage was mild pressure and nice enough. Not memorable. Towards the end you're left to rest for a while and given a small yummy sorbet. The latter part of the experience eats up into the hour. It was nice but I rather that time for the massage! I wouldn't do it again. The spa facility was nice and clean. We spent our time upstairs in the heated pool which was so relaxing. The steam room was really hot... Sauna as well - just how my husband likes it. He was in heaven. We spotted Manchester Uniteds Scott McTominay. There aren't many spa resorts around so you're likely to spot a celebrity. Oh and as for the changing facilities... Really nice and clean. Several vanities to choose from, nice big waterfall showers, great quality hair dryers. Fruit and water provided. We would go back for the spa facilities only.

This gym use to be so good and amazing. Everybody was so happy to chill and enjoy it but lately especially last 1 year I can't believe THG don't listen the members regarding complaint about how dirty and smelly stairs, changing rooms with broken showers, messed up aircons, ( either blowing so cold airs or so hot airs) lots of members have left the gym due to not getting improved with cleaning and fixing broken stuff. There are also lots of staff left the club due to same response from THG management. Their attatiute is get out if you are not happy with it. Most of good reviews get here due to people coming for a spa day and its so cool for them to be happy. I hope THG soon will sort the issues out. If they don't do it me and lots of other members will post here Pictures and videos of how this club run down with broken things, messy and dirty floors stairs and spa areas

Had a fantastic time at Hale, staff were friendly, food was fantastic, bibimpap with shredded beef and crispy chicken in satay udon noodles. The thermal pool is a quality experience, definitely worth a visit if you can.

It was...fine. Would be 3 star but for the cost. £280 for my partner and I (plus frustrating Saturday surcharge). For that money when you get are looking to get a massage it's definitely style over substance. The spa area after treatment is nice enough with the different rooms and pool. It was this that made it less disappointing. However if you are primarily going for a massage there are many better places. Inflexible with requests to make the massage more tailored and you can hear the gym music when you try and relax! I was expecting much better.

The gym is nice and it's generally quiet when I go which is only weekends. Spa facilities are good. For the price though I feel it is not up to the same level as The Third space in the Wharf which I was a member for five years. My weekday gym, PureGym seems to have more machines.

My mum and I had an amazing spa day experience here! Hannah the spa manager was lovely and provided us with refreshments before treatments. Jodie and Serena the beauty therapists were fantastic, so, so lovely and knowledgeable and made the experience 100% perfect for both of us. The sorbet after the massage was a beautiful touch. The food and prosecco was amazing and customer service was fantastic at all times. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend, thank you so much for a lovely day, I can’t wait to come back! xx

Good to be back at the gym together with all the friendly staff. They seem to have got everything under control so didn't feel threatened by Covid in any way. Has taken some time for all of the equipment and fresh water equipment to get sorted, eventually all seems ok for now. Fuzen is still open so makes a change from my regular cooking at home, especially with their fantastic baby squid! Should be even better once the sun returns soon. It's still a joy to watch the sun setting at 5pm whilst sitting in the infinity pool on the roof, bliss! Very poor maintenance regime recently. Had a timber slat in the sauna broken for over 6months! Eventually fixed but another couple need repaired, maybe they should put it on their Christmas wish list!! Hi, not been for 4 months due to major surgery but now back for the first time. Everywhere is 'paddle' the cross between squash, tennis and also VERY EXPENSIVE! Why is it extra money to use the same courts that have always been there plus it's not as exciting as either squash or tennis but just another rip off for the most expensive gym club in Cheshire. I don't think I'll be joining in!

I have been a member here for over 10 years now and I do enjoy the gym and spa but there are many issues which you wouldn’t expect for the price you pay. The price seems to increase every 6 months or so and there are no obvious improvements made to reflect an increase. Luckily for the club, there aren’t many other options in the area.

Had a massage booked, the day before they ring me up and cancel it, no explanation given, no offer of changing the appointment so I got a refund. Thought I'd give them another try and the exact same happened but on the Actual day of appointment, I was offered an alternative appointment like I'm free 24/7 but couldn't make so got a refund, never again

DEAR O DEARY ME!!.. WHATS GONE WRONG? This was my first visit in a while and how DISSAPOINTING it was. The main problem is with the food and bar staff. There seems to be a lethargy and a 'lets just get through the day' mentality. There is on lady in particular who seems to be ruling the roost. She comes across as abrubt, brash, and quite frankly 'a bit Morrisons'! This attitude spoiled my visit hence the one star. You see with somewhere like the Country Club there cant be any middle ground, there cant be any 3 stars. You either provide excellent service or poor. TODAY IT WAS POOR!

Went to the Twilight Hideaway with my mum for her birthday last week. Thankfully the massage was amazing and the lady who did the treatment was lovely. However, the rest of the staff were very unhelpful. We'd explained that it was our first time at Hale, yet no one explained what facilities were available to us/where they were. The receptionist didn't notify us that our food was ready, despite my Mum being in the same room, meaning it was cold before we'd realised. To top it off, when we left we were told by the front desk receptionist - in an abrupt manner - that she was cleaning so we needed to use the other door, no 'thank you for coming'. The spa itself was great, but I just can't justify spending my money here when the customer service was so poor.

Lovely clean spa , the treatment was amazing. Staff are very friendly. Downside the rooms dont have seals on doors, so heat escapes, and you can feel a draught. The whole time i was trying to relax in the thermal rooms, all i could hear was banging from the exercise class , it was like being in a nightclub. Dont think I'd return
