So we waited for 10 minutes as staff walked up and down or hid in the back on their mobiles. We were ignored and there were only about 4 tables of people, it was virtually nearly empty. We had to go in and find a manager who said they would get someone out to seat us. We were seated twice as it did not occur to the waiter that we had a pram and we did not want to block walkways. After being seated we tried to get someone attention to make an order again we were sat for 10 mins. Had not been offered drinks and we had to go find someone again. The restaurant had gone down to 3 tables and there were loads of staff just walking up and down, adjusting tables etc. When we finally made the order the food came on time and then after finishing it was yet another mission to try pay for the food. Really disappointed!

The horrible waitress didnt speak to us for 25 mins then shouted at us that shes not arguing with us after the starter and main took well over another hour to come. She then shouted "oh my god" in a packed restaurant. We then found a hair in our food when it eventually did come. The blonde waitress who's attitude stunk too the food away. Didnt come back to us. When I complained she told us to get out of her restaurant (doubt she owns pizza express) and sarcastically shouted bye bye across the restaurant. It was the blonde waitress with the with the square glasses! Absolute shambles and the managers couldn't manage a sock draw.

We had the pleasure of having Mel as our waitress tonight. What a lovely lovely woman! She made us feel so welcome and looked after. She was patient while we decided what we wanted and really made an effort with the kids, made them feel super special. We also mentioned it was our anniversary, at the end she brought over a special little anniversary brownie treat to wish us a happy anniversary! We couldn’t have asked for more. Thanks Mel x

Manager who took our order didn’t write it down despite there being an allergy order, then seemed to hide out of sight when she noticed an issue later on, leaving the other waitress to handle everything. Both starters were wrong, so I asked the other waitress to double check the mains were correct before they came out, as we could see there was an error on the app with one of them. Despite this query, one of the mains was wrong anyway so it was taken back. We then sat there for 30 minutes until the waitress chased the chef, who we could see obviously had no idea what she was talking about based on his reaction. I had finished my main by this point, and my partner was still waiting. Then, immediately after this conversation with the chef, instead of updating us the waitress just stood on the other side of the restaurant in a group (excluding the manager) sheepishly looking at us, perhaps deciding which of them was going to break the news. Fortunately for them they found a solution: just leave it and don’t tell us. When the waitress finally came over to update us my partner decided to just cancel the main order and leave as she was no longer hungry. We would have just paid online and left but they didn’t cancel the starter that they got wrong from our tab, and charged us again for the correct one, so we couldn’t. Of course the chef had probably already started making her main which was probably frustrating for him when we cancelled shortly after, but perhaps if we were told that he’d only just started making it 30 minutes after taking away the original wrong order we could have saved him the trouble. Overall, some communication would honestly have fixed a lot of things for us, as we usually don’t care about this stuff because hospitality isn’t always smooth and people have bad days etc., we get it. However, I will say that when taking someone’s order (especially if it’s an allergy/intolerance), I don’t understand why, as a manager, you wouldn’t write it down. Clearly this is what led to all of the issues with our meal.

I can forgive them the awful quality red wine, and to be fair to them, the starters : dough balls, roasted tomatoes, and garlic bread were very nice, but waiting ages to be brought a genuinely virtually cold pizza was poor. We were nice, but pointed out the issue. No apologies, then then, whilst the replacement pizza was hot…. It was the wrong pizza ! Staff member claimed we were wrong and couldn’t care less. Visited Pizza Express many times, but this kind of experience makes you feel unappreciated as a customer, these companies should bend over backwards to make sure customers have a great time. It’s only pizza, how hard can that be ??

On arrival the manager came and interrupted the member of staff that was taking our reservation to say ‘tell them it’s 30 minutes wait on mains’. Very rude and unwelcoming. We agreed that time would be ok. Our order was taken promptly and also starters served. However after 50 minutes we still had no mains. Other people in the restaurant that had arrived after us and were just having mains received their food before us. I asked the manager how much longer our meal would be. She returned from the kitchen and told us ‘7 minutes’. 7 minutes came and went and the manager had disappeared for some time (I presume for a break) She never came to check if we now had our food and I had to ask another member of staff. She said she would check and was sure our food was in the oven. This really made me laugh as I had ordered a salad! It took 1 hour 10 minutes to receive our main courses. During this wait no one came to ask if they could get us anything else. The service was shocking and no apology was received. We weren’t the only guests to receive this service. Felt really sorry for those with young children trying to keep them entertained. I couldn’t really see what the problem was as there appeared to be plenty of waiting on staff that would group up and stand around. It’s a shame as it’s not the standard usually received in Pizza Express.

Incredibly disappointing and poor value for money. Nearly £17 for a pizza that was literally a pizza base with bbq sauce squirted on it...hardly any meat. Lasagne wasn't any better and kids bolognaise tasted so artificially bad. Fair play to the manager though who was pretty good. Problem is that many products are made in a central place and just heated up at each location. Unless Pizza Express sort themselves out, this is a place to avoid sadly.

Food was as expected although this is the first Pizza Express/Italian that we have EVER been that did NOT have extra virgin olive oil as a table option. Quite odd. It is well known that this food business has one of the highest profit margins therefore they could most likely stretch to a small bottle of extra virgin olive oil for the restaurant. This is genuine feedback because we were genuinely stunned they didn't have any.

Ignored and pointed at when we were stood at the door. Waited 10 minutes with staff actively ignoring us. Was told they had no staff to accept tables. Obviously if there's no staff then there's nothing that can be done about that, but being ignored is not an experience I wish to repeat 😐

I came here over the weekend with my wife and kids, it was really busy. absolutely ecstatic with the service from a chap called mehdi. He kept us updated with where the food was up to. He is a true character and made us all smile. The food was very nice and baking hot. Just what is needed after a long day

We loved our dining experience. The app was easily used. The food was beautiful and fast. The only thing was where we were placed. We were sat on the furthest table out of the resturant, next to the entrance in. This did not bother us until we needed staff who we couldn't seem to catch eye. They were all further in the resturant. The waitress that looked after us was lovely and very friendly.

Tried to go this afternoon at 2pm but after being looked up and down by a very unhelpful member of staff my young children and I were told we couldn’t as a large party was expected so our food would take too long even though the restaurant looked very quiet. I went online and could book a table for 30 minutes later but the dour employee didn’t even bother to give an alternative time. I then happened to be passing the restaurant after the ‘large party’ had arrived and it was still more than half empty so I find it hard to believe we could not have be accommodated. We went elsewhere and the staff went above and beyond to ensure my children were happy and looked after - a far superior level of customer service! I can’t say for sure what problem the employee had but it honestly seemed like she didn’t want my children in the restaurant which seems a bit odd to me for a family restaurant and at 2pm in the day! Her manner and treatment of us was unacceptable and not the level of service I would expect at a Pizza Express.

We were swiftly shown to our table and menus were given. We waited a long time for someone to take our order, we eventually had to ask someone to come over. Our dough balls arrived quickly. After the plates were cleared, we were then ready for our pizzas. We waited 25 minutes, then I asked the waitress if our pizzas were going to be long. After another 15 minutes our pizzas finally arrived. 40 minutes is a long time to wait, the kids were getting agitated and moaning they were hungry. I know, places are short staffed, but I would’ve liked to be told that there was going to be a long wait, just to prepare us. Not sure I will use Pizza Express again after this episode.

Service was amazing and the lady that served us was really helpful and very friendly. The only thing that was annoying we ordered garlic bread with cheese twice and only received 1. We shared and only paid for one. And the air conditioning was on above is that made the pizza cold quick. The service was amazing and all staff are doing so well especially on a Fri night in the school holidays

Super experience, staff were very attentive and food amazing. We booked to celebrate a birthday for my 6 year old son and they made him a super special dessert surprise in minutes of telling them it was his birthday. He was over the moon! The restaurant looks great, we loved the table we were given it was in a lovely spot. We were told there could be a wait on food but we did not experience any. The food was so tasty for a booking of 6 people with kids meals, we were very impressed everything was spot on. We will definitely be back.

Standard pizza express food - so that was good. But the wait on food was almost an hour - we were warned 45 mins before we sat down - but just couldn’t understand how it was so long when the restaurant was so empty. Service was terrible - loads of staff but wandering about aimlessly, we had to ask to be seated (ignored for ages initially), for menus, drinks, orders to be taken, chase up missed dishes, and they left our empty plates on our table long after we finished despite drifting past and noticing this several times. Just go elsewhere if you want a relaxing meal.

  • 1/5 Yifei Z. 2 years ago on Google
Anyone looking at their name “pizza express” will understand a pizza will be given in express way. But the truth is any ordered pizza will take at least 30 minutes. We actually wait for over 50 minutes today. It may be due to we ordered a normal pizza and a kid’s pizza. All the waiters ignored us. The water jug was served with out cups. The ice cream was served without spoon. The pizza was served without cutter. They even didn’t have a working card reader for card payments. It is the worst restaurant I know right now. I can think no way they can be worse. But maybe they can.

I've been 2 or 3 times to this particular venue, at the Trafford Centre. The staff were helpful, reasonably priced food and good service also. I liked their all you can eat buffet, that was available there too, each time.

We haven't been before. We had to wait 20mins for a starter. The waitress on our side was rushing about while a young lady server was going at a snails pace. Looked as though she did not want to be there. Two waitresses where very attentive to one table. Standing chatting and we think they were friends. People who came after us were getting food and finishing before us. Almost an hour later we got our pizza. Not a lot of meat on the burnt end bbq. We were told there was no room in the oven for our pizzas so we have to wait. Not as good as was expected.

More Pizza 'moderately slow' than Pizza 'express'. Saved by the quality of the food, we can overlook the slow service and the somewhat confusing reluctance to use the 'indoor' (indoor) dinning area. If you're looking for standard, risk-free Italian cuisine, look no further - unless you're in a hurry: then do look elsewhere.

Disappointing compared to other branch’s offerings. Pizzas were overcooked, dry and lacking in sauce. Prawn starter comprised remarkably small prawns rather than butterflied king prawns but tasty all the same. Service was efficient and friendly. Only worthwhile with the free app offers.

The worth place where you can eat pizza. It is not fresh pizza, it is frozen product from fridge, but really expensive, pizza for £15 in Pizza Express - reality - £3 in Lidl. Terrible food and 1 bootle of beer Peroni for £7. Please, avoid this place. Poor food.

The food and service here were one of the best pizza express experiences that I've had, having been to a number of them around the UK. All of the waiting staff were really friendly and attentive. After a wait in a queue to be seated (as to be expected on a busy Saturday night) everything after being seated was very efficient. It was quite noisy in general due to it being in a busy shopping centre but that didn't spoil anything. It was topped off with a lovely Happy Birthday message for my friend when she ordered her dessert with a few extra little goodies/toppings included. Really lovely touch. I would definitely visit again!

We started our meal off with the Garlic Dough Balls which were really nice, then we ordered a Margherita Pizza and the American Hot. The Margherita arrived a few minutes before my boyfriends American Hot so I waited until his had came for us both to start, then I asked if I could have some Parmesan cheese to put on the top, the waitress wondered off and started talking to another table for a few minutes taking a picture of their table for them which delayed me getting the Parmesan cheese for another few minutes so by time I managed to start my pizza it was almost cold. Aside from that the waitress was pleasant. The Jalapeños on my boyfriends pizza were not even cooked so he took them off and both us of agreed that the pizza didn’t taste as good and consistent at some of the other Pizza express locations we’ve been too. We also both had a glass of coke that wasn’t cold and was room temperature. We will not be returning to this pizza express and will stick to Chester or Shrewsbury if we want to eat here.

I have to say the experience at this branch has been pretty dismal. The staff were so incredibly slow, inattentive and, quite frankly, incapable. It took over 20 minutes for us to be served just to order our drinks. Our starters arrived almost 30 minutes after ordering and were practically cold (they had obviously been left on the side and no one questioned it), before being taken to the wrong table - we witnessed this happen multiple times to other tables during our visit. Our mains took almost 45 minutes to arrive after finishing our starters. I had to ask 3 times over the space of an hour for a simple jug of tap water, it eventually arrived with the waiter in a snappy attitude. Desserts were not initially offered, we had to ask for the dessert menu - what fantastic upselling skills (!). Asking for the bill, it felt like we were inconveniencing the waiter, whom had changed twice since we first arrived due to how long it took for us to be served. It was clear the staff had been talking about our table amongst themselves as it, ironically, seemed they wanted us gone quickly by the end. I must say we were extremely patient and did not raise any issues in-branch, we simply wanted to eat our food, pay and go due to such a poor experience. On the whole, the amazing food was let down by clearly incompetent and careless wait staff, we were not even asked once how the food was. We will be raising this with head office. I strongly recommend the manager works on training their wait staff to have a more friendly and competent service. We witnessed three other tables asking to speak to the manager during our visit, so we most certainly weren't the only ones. We won't be back.

Our daughter ordered a kids margerita which arrived with less than half the pizza topped with Cheese. When we questioned the waiter she was flat out rude and stated that the lack of cheese, on a cheese pizza, was company policy. One of the managers came and agreed the pizza was sub-standard so we got a new one. But after that the service was non-existent as the waiter flat ignored us. We will not be going back for terrible service like that.

Possibly worst greeting and miserable inattentive service ever experienced, walked out as didn’t want to waste money there, lady at welcome looked completely disinterested and bored and tired and was in own clothes so assume was some kind of manager. Save money for somewhere that actually wants custom, 5 of us as well. Very disappointing

Limited menu as some basics were out of stock. Had the Pollo Ad Astra pizza and its brilliant , definitely enough for one person and extremely thin and crispy. Garlic butter dough balls hit the spot as usual too. Told we’d have a 40 minute delay for food but it only took around 15 minutes for the food to arrive. 👍

Waited nearly 80 minutes 2 pizzas, the restaurant was half full at the most. Won't dine here anytime soon. They're understaffed, lot's of dishes out of stock, not a single soft drink, and the beer wasn't cold.

The restaurant was very busy and clearly understaffed but our server Malwina was really lovely, apologetic about the wait and chatty even though we could tell she was rushed of her feet. Great asset to the company Can never go wrong with pizza from here never disappoints

  • 1/5 Eileen W. 11 months ago on Google
My daughter and I went to the restaurant for a meal and the food was disappointing. The pizza arrived with barely any toppings on and no cheese. The manager apologised and explained they had run out of cheese at 7pm. No joke, this is true. Hint before you order please check if they have enough ingredients to make a pizza. The meal was remade but the length of time ruined what is usually a good meal.

  • 1/5 Nadine A. 1 year ago on Google
I came here a few weeks ago and gavr it some time before reviewing to be as fair as possible. When I arrived with my 3 children I was greeted like they would rather i had picked somewhere else. It didn't look too busy but they Said it's a 45-1hr wait for food. The lady on the door looked surprised when I said that's fine and when I sat down and there was no delay I wondered why they were trying to deter people unnecessarily then decided maybe I was paranoid ... From there I had to get my waitresses attention several times from requesting drinks or ordering desserts or asking for plates. That didn't bother me so much as the person on the door (two people) who pretended they couldn't see me (I was sat near the door) and when I asked for a dessert menu from her (as I couldn't see my waitress and had been waiting a while) she rolled her eyes... walked past me into the restaurant to the back, took food out then came back to the front where the menus were! She eventually got me one and gave it to me whilst looking away. It was so rude. I would describe the service of this lady (not the waitress) and the other on the door as hostile. Honestly, even without the sour faces of the two ladies sharing door duty the service was simply appalling. I love pizza express but I will never visit this branch again. I don't think I've ever had such an awful experience dining out. They gave me the feeling they hate their job. I suppose hospitality isn't for everyone but it is most certainly not for either of those two.

  • 1/5 Matt R. 1 year ago on Google
Only reason this place has got 1 star is because there isn’t anything less. After so many visits to Pizza Express over the years, to say that the standard has slipped is a complete understatement. Food quality really poor, my son didn’t even receive his main and had to watch the rest of the family eat. Warm drinks, I could go on. Maybe if you limited the amount of people who you let in, you would be able to attend to the people you already had in. Big disappointment.

  • 3/5 Katie I. 9 months ago on Google
Not best impressed. Our server was very inattentive and acted as if she didn’t want to be there. Food was great and did arrive quickly, however there were 4 waiters on and only 6 tables, and we had to prompt to take our plates away and order desserts. Even when she took our dessert order, she did not seem impressed. Lots of waiters were also standing at the pass and chatting rather than attending to their tables

Poor hygiene, hair attached to ice in my drink. Ice was never requested. Unapologetic staff. Food initially given was burnt then remade. This was a waste of time. Then I was sick later in the evening and day after. I recommend you do not visit this dirty chain. Not worth your time, health or money. There are better pizza places or restaurants in Manchester. Please avoid this one.

The worst Pizza Express we’ve ever been to. Today the table we were sat at wasn’t clean, the dough balls are pre prepared and always cold. The staff are impolite and you have to chase them up for everything. We have visited this Pizza Express a few times and it’s always been poor. It really lets the chain down as we’ve been to the ones in Stafford, Stoke & Chester and they are all great.

Vegan review: Ate here with a friend after looking at every restaurant in the Trafford centre to weigh up the vegan options! They had a separate vegan menu, I had the Pea, Broad Bean & Mint Arancini to start, that was nice. And the Leggera Vegan Giardiniera - pizza with a hole in the middle where salad took its place. Also tasty! I was happy to see there were a couple of decent dessert options rather than fruit salad and sorbet.

Not the best Pizza Express I've been to and service just seems lacking here. You wait an age to be served and can be forgotten about, which can be annoying - especially if you're in a rush and just want a quick meal. We use the Tesco vouchers so does work out good value, but might start looking elsewhere to eat in the Trafford Centre.

Customer service is horrendous and food was disgusting 😑 nothing was fresh and the portions for the price is outrageous will never eat here again The pastas was defrosted and reheated we could tell as the pasta on the outside of the bowl was all black and burnt this was also watery. And the kids dessert was a brownie the size of a single brownie you get from a tesco 20 pack Never again

Although my food was nice, the list of faults for the overall experience was not good. The service was terrible, not a single smile and at one point our table was half cleared and we were forgotten for about 20 mins! This is not great with young children, I had to ask someone in the end to clear and bring desert menus. The children's pasta was undercooked, something we discovered after they had chewed through most of it (feedback from a 2&3 year old is not great), this was beyond al dente and towards crunchy. I get that Sunday at the Trafford centre is busy, but if you can't handle the volume close some booths down and explain you are short staffed, poor service can be easily avoided if managed properly.

Always fantastic food served by friendly staff. One of my favourite stop-offs when shopping with my daughter at the Trafford Centre.

The Meal was average.....I chose the pizza it was nothing special, reminded me of the ones you buy from Iceland! ( can't beat Doninoes pizza). My mate selected a pasta dish,, again , average . Nothing special Smsll servings too!!! Nice Restaurant.... Waitress didn't bother to see if we needed anything! Poor service! Waiter presented the bill and it was one of those credit card machines and there was an option asking to offer service charge YES or NO...... I've not heard of this before and felt uneasy in front of waiter selecting NO!! Was disappointed 😔 Pizza Exoress needs to get their act together or they will lose customers. Only being truful!!!!!!!
