Worst experience ever! I have stayed two nights. The first one someone broke the lockers on my room and stole a lot of things ( from me one laptop, one Mobil phone and cash). They told me they don’t have any insurance and that they are not paying for anything. Until there I was unhappy but it was something that can happen. But when I arrived to the hostel on my second night around 1 am I realized that they remove the door of my looker - where all my staff was inside. And left it on the room without any security -I don’t know how many hour, but sure enough to stole things AGAIN from my suitcase. When I asked on the reception they told me “it was Brocken, we removed it to fix it”. To the question “who is responsible for my things now?” they answered that they don’t although THEY REMOVED my door with my padlock without contacting me. They could called me, write me an email, per booking.con , say me something when I still was there, because I asked many times “what is happening now?” Of course the manager refused to write and sign that they did it. Only ONE employee was really nice and helped me, but I know that it was not because he works there, it is only because he is a really nice person. And I am really very grateful to him.

Via is a great place to stay and socialize. Dara is a great receptionist. Her smile makes everyone happy and you feel very accommodated. Don’t let her go.

Very cozy and nice place, the rooms are big and the beds not so bad. I will asked for a better clean in the rooms and toilet. Because I never saw it clean all the days I stayed. There has a kitchen, fridge and space for eat. For the rest is nice with tasty food and good coffee.

Good for the price. Rooms are spacious but don't have much comfort. Cleaning is very good. But the location is away from the centre. The metro comes around every 12 minutes, takes 20 minutes from center, and then there is 10 minutes walking distance to the hostel building.

Pros: Very friendly staff and great atmosphere. I found it really easy to meet new people. Very large and comfortable common room with board games, air hockey, etc. Linens are provided, though you must make the bed yourself. Cons: Due to its proximity to the college and a student homelessness problem, many students stay here. They can be fun! But the issue is that they regularly wake up early and don’t try too hard to be quiet in the mornings. The kitchen is very limited: no oven, stovetop, or toaster. You cannot cook food here, though I’ve heard that if asked, the staff might heat food in the staff oven for you. Lockers cost €5. The rooms have lockers, but if you need to drop your things before/after check out, there’s a fee. There’s also a fee for towels. For the price, I don’t think the value is there. Overall I had a good experience but found myself more annoyed than I should.

I came here with some friends, the workers were very friendly and polite. They have a bar and a good area for playing ping pong and more games... The rooms were clean. I was in a different room and they offered me to move and extra bed so I could be with them. It was a nice detail.

The hotel is far from the city center, the service does not work at all since they made us pay a fine because the smoke detector that was sealed supposedly was manipulated by us totally indisposed so they gave us two options to pay or leave the room. On the other hand we were mugged at night next to the hotel park. The beds were not . In short it was a bad experience for us, I definitely do not recommend the place.

Very good impression until you’re given your bed. Everything you have to pay for ( towel, locker) not the best thing! They don’t clean the rooms on a daily basis and most importantly no one respects the house rules at all!! If you need a shut of any eye look for some place else.

The rooms are nice and simple and the overall vibe is relaxed but one day I extended my booking being away just because I left my thing in the locker and couldn't make it before the check-out time. Then I came back and the hotel stall was just about to pry open the locker to get my luggage out even though I paid for the next night with is totally crazy, they justified it as I didn't pay the check-in tax yet of 2 euros. Very bad hostel policy more like a prison than a relaxed stay in this terms

Booked a room way in advance and were told to come at 3:00 for the check in, we stayed out longer and came back at 5:00 only for them to tell us the rooms are still not ready. There were about 60 people waiting for their rooms just like us. Otherwise the hostel is very cute and the crowd is fun, however it takes 50 min to get to the center and back.

Had a wonderful stay at Via Amsterdam. The room was clean and comfortable. I feel as though I got exactly what was advertised. I stayed in a 4 bed private room with a few friends. We had our own private bathroom and every bed had a reading light and USB port/plug socket available. An easy 10-15min metro into the centre of Amsterdam. Also a grocery store and coffee shop near by to give you some options.

It was amazing here. The staff were friendly. Everything was extremely clean. The beds/mattresses were very comfy too. It was only 1 metro ride away from the city centre which was convenient for us as they were frequent. Great drinks and a good breakfast.

Very clean and cozy, the lobby area is with great aesthetic. Rooms are clean. There's a subway station close by.The only negative thing I can point out is the lack of towels in the bathroom.

The Place was just perfect! Everything look so colourful and nice, the staff was really helpful, and the price is really competitive in comparison to other places around, it was pretty close so the station and a big market where you can even find a McDonald's for a rush! Also food delivery options as well. They have everything in, even a Cinema room, really comfortable, everything looks brand new, refurbished, and clean, I'll repeat everytime going back to Amsterdam!

The best hostel I have stayed in. Location is not the best but is only less than 10 minute walk away from the train station. The service is fantastic, all of the workers are amazing. They provide the best setting to meet new people, the social atmosphere is fantastic. The rooms were clean and very well spaced out with 2 washrooms in each room.

Great place for a quick visit in Amsterdam. Cheap, quick service and great atmosphere. Visited there during the WC and there were watch parties. Great common area with various games and this to do like pool or table softer soccer. Awesome location near the metro station and quiet neighborhood. Spaceus rooms, clean and tidy. One minus, no smart TV in the room, only cable.

Its very good hotel with facility of private rooms, dorms for groups. Its very hygienic place. Book early to avoid rush. Morning Buffet breakfast is good here don't forget to have it. Usually you have to pay City tax apart from booking charges in Amsterdam. You will find M53 metro for Amsterdam central which is available until midnight 12.

Very good place to stay with a larger group! Functional rooms, young design, practical and unpretentious accommodation! Very helpful staff, easy communication during reservation. Maybe food could be a little improved, especially for supper. The burgers at the Dude, however, were good!! All a very satisfying stay! Will surely come back!

Overall our stay was ok. What I liked: The hostel (not hotel!) offers nice amenities on the ground floor and is designed in a fun and playful way. What I did not like: you have to bring your own towels, we did not have any body wash in the shower, the doors are hung so high, that between the bathroom door and floor there is 3 cm of space, meaning no privacy and a lot of noise. Most important, they make a really big deal about not letting you check in without the person who made the reservation.

Beds were comfortable and had individual night lights and plugs. The shower was not the best as the temperature would constantly variate. Overall the place is very clean. It didn’t felt like a hostel tho, more of a hotel vibe.

We loved staying here! Even though it was a little far from the town centre, you still had some good transport links. Our room was very spacious and nice! We had a pretty loud bed, though. The best thing about this place was the hang out zone where everyone can enjoy playing some games, ping pong, having breakfast or a cocktail, etc... Really nice vibes!

We booked this hostel last minute as our previous hostel did not feel safe. It is only a 10 minute walk from the metro which is great. The vibe in the place makes you feel welcome and safe from the staff , the other guests , the facilities. We booked a four person dorm with a private bathroom. Huge room, huge bathroom and most importantly they were clean. The bar was fairly priced with great bar staff. Pool table, table tennis, air hockey and a cinema room are among the facilities. Reception staff are very helpful and friendly. Only downside is they charge €6 for towels so you’re better off bringing your own.

This is one of the best hostels I’ve stayed at! It’s super clean, the rooms are very spacious, comfy beds, clean bathrooms and the room itself has very nice isolation so you can’t hear anything from outside. The staff is super friendly and I loved that they have different activities for the guests to join. The food there was also super delicious! The hostel isn’t in a central space but there’s a metro station stop super close and also a park near my that’s great for walking or morning runs. I’d definitely recommend staying at VIA hostel and can’t wait to visit it again!

Hostel is not that bad but the room has minimal equipment, kinda rough experience - the lobby and kitchen seems nice tho, also there are cool evening events as karaoke etc. they have their own schedule for those - also there is an underground parking. I’ve stayed there for one night + late checkout and had only positive experiences - can totally recommend it

If you're 25+ yo don't do it. It's cheap and it's for a good reason. The room super dirty, bed sheets with stains and the dirty hankershift got me to the door an hour after check in. They say they have rules but none is respected so please if your are a female be careful. Absolutely no standards and no refund. So let me say it again. Don't do it

I don't understand how people can give this 5 stars. They have no stove in the kitchen. There's basically no furniture in the rooms. Locks barely work. It's so far from the city it could just as well be in another city. Definitely not returning here

The atmosphere in the common area is the best thing about this place, you can spend your whole day there! The rooms are nice, however I wish if there were instructions about how to use the toilet and leave it clean after you leave it since I had a bad luck sharing a room with wild animals.

This isn’t my first time here and I had a great stay again! Of course there were some cons but that’s only due to people you share the room with. The staff is different from last time but as lovely, lots of things to do in the hotel itself. The only “negative” thing is that if you’re a solo traveler especially a female, you may not always feel 100% safe when you’re coming back to the hotel late at night but again that depends on people !

Hands down the best hostel I've ever been to! Great service, amazing vibes, a tons of things to do around the hostel and also in the city! You get a great easy going fresh vibe from the website, and you get the same vibe in every little part of the hostel and the crew as well!

  • 4/5 Antonella B. 7 months ago on Google
In general it's a great hostel. Very apart from the main attractions, but it's good connected. I would suggest to add a box or something for the bunks on top there's nothing where to place your stuff. So I had my book and headphones below my pillow. The second suggestion is to clean the shared bathrooms every day since unfortunately many people do not care about keeping them clean and it's annoying for the ones that do care that they are dirty permanently :) but super cool activitied and staff

It’s about an 8 min walk from the train station, which is quite nice without luggage. With luggage it’s a bit of a hike. The rooms are fairly nice, the beds are pretty comfy and I was happily surprised the pillows were awesome. The lockers aren’t very accommodating with the locks. I had a corded lock and I couldn’t feed it through the lock. Seems it’s intended for a padlock and that’s it. There are better options out there for them to install. The main issue I had with the room was that in an 8 person room there is 1 single stall bathroom, with 1 shower and 1 sink in it. The sinks in hostels should never be in the bathroom. And there should be communal options as well. The breakfast buffet seemed to be lacking, I found it much nicer to just order from the bar. Their iced coffee was amazing. The wifi was good. The social spaces were awesome. And lots of options for quiet and loud alike.

+ Rooms are spacious, comfortable beds, charging ports work well. Ensuite bathroom for all rooms. + Great, lively atmosphere, many activities to do at the hostel + Staff are friendly and helpful, especially from Andrea. + WiFi is free, fast and reliable - Hostel could be a lot cleaner, the floor of my room hadn't been mopped in a while, and was sticky.

I travel a lot and sleep mostly in hostels. But I have to admit: I haven't seen a place with such helpful staff yet! I wish you all good! I hope you have discounts for regular customers because I will be back for sure! :-) (beatboxer with huge boxes).

a very lovely place where everyone is very friendly a helpful, the rooms are nice and honestly, big for 2 people. very nice to have a separate bathroom and toilet! it was close to a metro and buss station so traveling to the arena was easy. we stayed the night so we could see Harry Styles and they welcomed us with a Watermelon lollipop and they even had a themed cocktail at the bar! it’s the tiny details that make the experience so wonderful :) thank you !!

A good place to stay with 24hrs of staff availability at reception desk. Hostels rooms do not have lockers, and if lockers are there they charge you with money, and also ask you to purchase pedlocks at very high rates. No towels provided by staff.

  • 3/5 Markéta D. 7 months ago on Google
The rooms were clean, but with minimal furniture. I did expect a little more for the money spent. What was great was the bar downstairs and we loved to have a good eggs Benedict for breakfast there.

Alex, Juan, Poppilin, Marta, Irene, Dada, Christina, and so many more of the Via Team, did amazing. I’m doing reviews of hostels that are Wheelchair friendly, & this place is 5 stars when i comes to Customer service. The building has a few updates, & also, moving towel hooks to a lower level, mirrors lower, to see ourselves shave, in restroom. I suggest this in wheelchair Accessible room. Adding, that via needs to make a few 8 bed rooms, wheelchair friendly, I will consult you, in any questions, on this subject matter. Amazing stay, like The DUDE says, I LOVE YOU MAN! The thing is I lost my wallet at the station. I realized that when I was about to check in, then I came back to find it but failed. But when I was back to Via Amsterdam, a nice girl at the reception told me that someone found the wallet at the station and gave it back to them!! What a magical city and how nice the people here are. I can't describe how thankful I am. I had a really nice trip in Amsterdam and say many thanks to everyone who helped me!

Had a pretty good stay here with some friends. In the college area, so felt really comfortable walking around. Easy to get to public transit. Room could’ve been a littler cleaner, lots of hand prints and smears on the walls. Downstairs looked really awesome. We didn’t spend much time in the common areas as we were out exploring. The basement floor offers fridges and shelves for food along with name tags if you had stuff you wanted to store. Shower a bit small but usable. Bring towels if you can, you’ll save a few $$ that way. Make sure your power adapter is round. (I have a multi country one and it was useless here! But the bunks had built in usb ports) Overall we had a nice stay. Beds were comfortable. Staff was nice.

The hotel is perfect for its category, similar to a youth hostel. The personnel is very friendly and helpful. The location is very good, just 7-8 minutes from the Diemen Zuid metro and train station. Amsterdam Central is only 20 min away by metro, and Schipol Airport is only 17 min by Spring train. Thanks a lot!

  • 5/5 Cassandra M. 6 months ago on Google
The location is kind of far from the things we wanted to do, and the rooms aren't sound proofed at all. It's hard not to be too loud. But the staff! They were amazing and made the entire trip so much h better. We were sick and they constantly asked about our health and had awesome recommendations of things to do. We felt like they went above and beyond with every request we had. All in all, it's great for the price and the staff makes up for any small inadequacies.

Nice clean room, with big bathroom. You have to bring your own towels. Service was nice. Location is okay but not great. You have to walk like 10min to the next station and then drive another 15min to the Amsterdam Central Station.

I always stay here when I visit the dam. Its a train journey from centre but the amenities make it worthwhile. Always clean and tidy. A good crowd of guests willing to socialise with a lone traveller. Home from home. I love it.

We were four people and stayed in this hotel in two private rooms. The rooms are clean and spacious. You have a TV and towels. There is a bar and food on the ground floor. Generally the place is ok. The Location is far from the center and you have to walk quite a bit until the metro station. It was the cheapest option we found for New Year's season.

  • 5/5 Akshay K. 3 months ago on Google New
During our stay with friends, we found the location convenient with easy access to public transit. While the room could have been cleaner, displaying handprints and smears on the walls, the common areas, particularly downstairs, showcased an impressive ambiance. Although our exploration kept us from fully utilizing these spaces, we noted the well-equipped basement floor with fridges, shelves for food storage, and name tags for personal items. While the shower was somewhat small, it remained functional. It's advisable to bring towels, and ensure your power adapter has a round design. On a positive note, the bunks featured built-in USB ports. Despite minor considerations, our overall experience was pleasant. The beds were comfortable, and the staff demonstrated a friendly and accommodating demeanour.

My husband and I were meant to stay here from 24-28 Dec to finally celebrate our honeymoon, as well as for Christmas. Despite being fully vaccinated, I now have COVID and we can’t make the booking. VIA Amsterdam has not at all been willing to work with us. I do understand that our booking is non-refundable, so I’m even a bit weary to write this review. I am just absolutely heartbroken. After the past year and half we’ve had (the whole world has had, really), we were so looking forward to this. For what it’s worth, the receptionist I spoke with on the phone was absolutely lovely.

I've stayed in many a hostel over the years. This one was clean, quiet and comfortable. The bedding looked and smelled clean, and the beds were sanitary. 8 euro a towel felt a little like daylight robbery but can't complain about anything else to do with the place.

  • 5/5 Adam 2 years ago on Google
Great hostel, very nice and clean room, especially considering the price. The staff was friendly and the overall atmosphere was great. Unfortunately we didn't get to use the facilities like the bar as we only stayed one night, but the common area looked cool and there were events announced for the weekend. Parking was no problem and it was also easy to get to the city and back via public transport. We will probably come here again for our next visit to Amsterdam.

It's a bright, vibrant and youthful place. Well designed reception and helpful, friendly staff. Rooms were pretty good and clean. Towels were replaced on a daily basis. Ample parking space, but comes with an additional charge. Situated close to most of the tourist attractions which is a great plus!

Had the best time in Via, I love Amsterdam and have never stayed outside the centre before. Via was a really great experience with the Metro only a 5 minute walk to get in and out of the centre. Bus to the Airport for a pre 7am flight was also easy! Bus 200.... I think. Met some beautiful people and also had lovely space to reflect and be on your own. Staff were also friendly lovely and very helpful!! Thank you Via, would have loved a hob to cook my own meals but this is just a small thing. Take your own padlock and enjoy the time there.

Overall, cool hostel with enough amenities for youth and budget travelers. Friendly and accommodating staff. In the suburbs, so out of the city center mix. Likes Clean, 24-hour desk, option to rent a bike, out of way from heavily trafficked tourist areas. It was also right next to a college campus that had some really great restaurants. They also had a plug adapter that I purchased because my adapter didn’t quite fit. Dislikes There were like 100 12 year olds staying there one night. They were super loud, slamming doors, etc. I talked to the hotel manager and they said the teachers were on it. I didn’t hear them after 11 PM quite hours, which was nice. I rented a bike to bike into the city. The gears were a little messed up and kept grinding. I told front desk that it needed maintenance when I returned it. If you rent a bike, take a test ride and return it for a new one if it doesn’t work well. Breakfast was a little disappointing but convenient since there’s not a lot of options around. I would recommend buy 1 day first to see if you want to go back instead of for the whole stay (they offer a slight discount for this option).

2 stars at best. Probably the most expensive hostel and the worst hostel I have stayed at. It was busier than an airport but there was hardly anyone hanging out. The "kitchen" with no oven and food that went mysteriously missing always smelled like 2 week old lasagna. The service was acceptable and the place was clean, even if they couldn't supply a towel for the price. My main complaint has to be the door card activated power in my room. If you took your electronic door card out of the slot the power would shut off. Meaning that if you were taking a shower and someone took their card out the lights would turn off. This was abysmal.

It’s all about the staff! We stayed there at the beginning of March. All of the staff were very welcoming and nice. Special thanks to Ivo from the reception and the manager that we unfortunately don’t know the name of, we just know he is from Portugal. Their kindness and friendliness made our stay better. The vibe in the hostel is amazing. All recommendations!

a very lovely place where everyone is very friendly a helpful, the rooms are nice and honestly, big for 2 people. very nice to have a separate bathroom and toilet! it was close to a metro and buss station so traveling to the arena was easy. we stayed the night so we could see Harry Styles and they welcomed us with a Watermelon lollipop and they even had a themed cocktail at the bar! it’s the tiny details that make the experience so wonderful :) thank you !!

Had a great time at Via Amsterdam! Staff was very kind and friendly. The mood there is always young and festive. There are so many things to do, so many nice people to meet. The place is very clean, bathrooms are large and comfortable. It's a little far from the city center but public transportation in Amsterdam is incredibly efficient. You can be literally anywhere in 20-30 minutes at most. Even at night. I hope to go back soon!

Nice interior of a lobby and restaurant area. Staff is lovely and superb friendly. They have many recommendations of what to do around. Bikes are available in place. Parking is a large plus if you came there by car. Subway is in the walking distance. However rooms are a bit empty and needs to be refreshed.

Really enjoyed my visit to Amsterdam. Location of hostel was pretty good, near the metro and felt safe at night. Amenities good although kitchen was only 2 microwaves and a kettle. Bathroom in room could have been cleaner, the shower floor and sink were covered with dirt but other than that, no real complaints.

If you are booking via credit card, please carry same credit card with you. Otherwise, it takes long time to get back your advance booking amount. It's a bit on outskirts from city centre but have well sign boards from station. Recommended to buy 1/2/3 days public transport pass if you stay here so that you can manage your visits to city centre areas.

Stayed here with a group of friends for the weekend, it’s a great place to stay and would definitely return! The staff are so friendly and welcoming. They have a social area with a bar and games including a pool table and air hockey, and events in the evenings. It’s a short walk to the metro so the city centre is easily accessible. It would be good if there was more options for breakfast. We had a great time!

Great place to stay, we stayed in the hotel area with private rooms and it was very comfortable. Staff we're very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Cool communal area with bar and breakky, there is also a fun communal activity every night, including beer pong which is awesome. Little bit away from the city centre but there are a couple of nearby stations within easy walking distance.

Rooms are spacious, no carpet in the bathroom, plenty towels and bottles of shampoo left over you can hear the music from the bar. Checkin took a long time and room wasn't ready. Otherwise nice hostel with lots of amenities, nice area, really quiet.

A really nice hostel, spacious rooms, although it is a bit far out from the city, it has a metro station a few minutes away that takes you directly to the city centre in about 20minutes. During the night it is a bit less accessible, but still doable. The lobby has great atmosphere and the employees are all really nice and friendly. I have to mention Tuulia who works the bar in the lobby was especially nice!

One of the coolest hostels I have been to. It's far away from the city but very accessible by train/subway. They have a bed theatre, a club, and nice breakfast. NOTE: breakfast is not free and make sure to buy the breakfast on day 1 because it is on discount if it's your first night. They have a nice gaming place on the first floor. It's more expensive than the other places but it was an experience.

Minimalist room for affordable price. It is perfect if you don’t spend that much time in the hostel. Rooms are big enough and clean. A parking is available but not included in the price. The hostel has a bar and a restaurant with a lot of animations. For the price, you need to bring your own towel. Facilities are available at 5 min by walk (Mac Donald’s, metro station, groceries). You can rent bike as well in the hostel (20min from town center by bike or 10min by bike).

Great location For a few spent in Via Amsterdam, I'm satisfied Good breakfast with a lot of choice. The staff is fantastic and always smiling. Rooms and bathrooms neat and clean. Plus looseness and freedom.

The shared dormitory is good. Its big and clean. Make sure that you get your own padlock for the locker. Get your own towels as they don't provide complimentary towels in shared dormitory

Do not stay here. They charged me a 100€ deposit fee (which I was meant to get back) I have not received the money back yet, it has been two weeks. Got in touch with my bank over in the UK and they said that the hotel has put my money on hold and haven’t confirmed it on their side. So this is now an outstanding payment. Hotel/apartment has refused to communicate properly with us, sending me backwards and forwards. Not bothering to reply to emails. Overall poor service and poor communication.
