I should say that most of the coaches are good and that the people that train here will challenge you. But, the head coach is egotistical and negatively motivates people through humiliation and fear. I attended about 4 times before making this judgement. Of the coaches at the gym, Yousef is incredible and I love his classes. But the head coach, Andre I believe, has a very archaic way of teaching. When sparring came along and I should say I was challenged and happy to train with other girls who knew the sport. But when I sparred with Andre, who he is at least 85 kilos and I weigh 49. The man tried to sweep me, aimed his punches directly to my face even though I had said that I didn't have a mouthguard, and clearly was trying to "teach me a lesson" with his strength. I told him it was too hard, he still didn't adapt. So, I took off my gloves and refused to spar with him. He kicked me out of his class (even though I couldn't leave the building cause the door was locked) so I had to sit there and be humiliated for standing my ground against a bully. We tried to talk it out at the end, but he was adamant he was right. Another point, I observed him pick the least experienced male of the class to demonstrate the drills. The guy was a beginner is a sea of experienced fighters, many it was clear Andre already knew, but he took the guy who knew nothing and repeatedly embarrassed him in front of the class. This was his style, to break you or yell at you until respect him. A bully, like I said. In my perspective, if you're the professor of the class you should be the one keeping your cool, and when a student has to check you then something is wrong. His classes are on Friday-- he screams a lot and his instructions are confusing for english speakers too (but not horrible if you already know the sport) If you have no muay thai experience, however, this guy will traumatize you out of it. He is not welcoming, but Yousef is great, classes are on Sunday and I love them!

Very rude head trainer. I walked out fifteen minutes into class. Avoid at all costs. I've trained ten years, trained at gyms in three different countries and I have never ever encountered such an unwelcoming and cold atmosphered training environment. Chris the guy at the desk was great, but Andre.. Perhaps he had a bad day but you can't talk and disrespect visitors the way I was disrespected today regardless of what side of the bed you woke up on.

Visiting Amsterdam and popped in for a kickboxing heavy bag class with Andre. Great class, great work out, and the other students were very welcoming. Andre did a great job with managing people of different skill levels and languages.

Tonight there was a technique training with Andre, which I showed up for as usual. I fought a bigger guy and noticed right from the start that he was pushing me way too hard. I stopped the sparring and asked him to punch less hard, after which we continued sparring. He didn't change his strength and continued to spar as if it was his last chance. There was a moment at the end of the round when he hit me really hard on my body, I felt his aggression in that shot. I got a little angry, stopped sparring and took off my gloves. Andre saw that and asked us what happened, and my sparring partner told him that I hit him with the spinning elbow. I was a bit shocked because I don't use those kinds of techniques, especially in sparring, and told Andre that there was no elbow. Andre started yelling something like "WHAT WAS THEN?" to which I calmly said that I had used a backfist once, maybe that was what my sparring partner meant. Andre clearly didn't want to listen to my side of the story and said something like "we don't fight hard here and if you don't agree with that, find another gym". I was like...what? In the end the guy I had laughed at, maybe because Andre believed his bullshit story about twisting elbows and I looked guilty. This whole situation frustrated me so much because A) I got hurt, B) my sparring partner used his spinning elbow story to justify why he hit me hard, and Andre believed him, C) I was left guilt-ridden with the advice to try another gym. to search. No problem, I'll do it. I have always respected Andre as a coach and listened to his advice, but that is just too much injustice for me for one evening. P.S Most of the people you meet at the gym are really nice, there isn't a single bad attitude among the team and they are good sparring partners. Two stars because there is also a great coach Youssef, but unfortunately he only teaches on Sundays.

Looks like a serious and good place to train on a professional level, so the rating is not for that. But the environment and atmosphere past the reception (you were awesome Chris! :D) was was very cold and unwelcoming on behalf of the trainer :/ There was clearly some kind of misunderstanding about the class I came to and I explained that I was happy to go and come back some other time, but I did not see the need for making me feel so awkward and on the spot for having showed up. I would suggest thinking of better ways to talk to someone, like taking them on the side to tell them they should come back another time, instead of saying something like “Hier wordt ik niet blij van” out loud. But hey, maybe I’m just too soft for this environment...

Great place to learn and practice. Andre is a great Master and pays attention even to minor details. Other coaches are also very professional and attentive. Exercises on the bag can be really exhausting, and as such a perfect way to train your stamina. OSU!

(Translated by Google) Roamed around different gyms. Since a few months at Mejiro. Mejiro is (in my opinion) founded with its own philosophy. You notice this in the training courses. From head coach Andre to other trainers, you build on the same techniques and tactics. And the trainers are of the highest level. From the moment the door closes, the training has really begun, concentration, focus and commitment are required, regardless of the level. "Suffer in silence". In short, great! ‘Suffer in silence’. Kortom, top! Diederick

😠 Unfortunate to see my favourite gym constantly in disrepair. Often taking weeks to months before simple issues are fixed. Cleanliness is also not as it used to be - WCs become disgusting later in the day. Calling customer support wasn’t helpful so I thought I’d post my complaints here.
