Far too expensive for what you get in return, the same device has been broken for more than a month. Do not do it! Unfortunately, I am tied to a one-year contract, what a shame. Update: 3 devices are now broken. Update 13-06: 1 device has finally been made after 3 months (ridiculous that it takes so long). The air conditioning is now broken during the hottest period of the year 👍🏼. This also takes more than 3(!) weeks before it is resolved. And you pay €60 for that. Update 23-06: Now 4 broken equipment in this sweltering gym without air conditioning. The staff doesn't seem to care. How I regret a one-year contract, don't do it! Update 03-08: As always, many broken devices. As many as 40% of treadmills are out of service for some time. Update 26-08: Still many broken devices, it takes weeks before anything is repaired. The locker room also stinks. Update 19-11: apparently you are not even safe in the saunas! See attached picture. Update 30-01: again a lot of equipment is broken, one of which has been broken for more than a month. Crappy repair and replacement here.

This place went down hill extremely fast. Not even worth one star anymore. The conditions are horrible here, old machines which are in a very bad state. The air treatment doesn't work properly, extremely stuffy, hot and very unhealthy!! The staff doesn't seem to care at all, all they say is that machines won't be fixed or replaced and the air treatment has been an issue for weeks now. SportCity Shape pretends that they're premium club and ask a premium price which in the current state and the way the customers are treated is beyond unacceptable!

I cancelled my two week trial a week after starting it via the app. A few days later I got a bill stating that I need to pay for a month. I contacted the gym and let them know I canceled during the two week trial and therefore do not see why I need to pay anything. Apparently the app does not take the trial weeks into account and cancelled my subscription with one and a half months to pay. The employee who responded simply told me that “I cancelled within the app and therefore they cannot cancel it again since they don’t have it in their system anymore” even though she sent me a screenshot of my ACTIVE subscription earlier on. I told her that there must’ve been an issue with the app and I want my subscription cancelled now, not in one and a half month (mind you this conversation happened during the two week trial) and I stated multiple times that I want my subscription cancelled immediately. She then said she’ll forward it to customer service but it might take a while to get a response. I agreed and told her to please stop sending me bills until this is resolved. Now, weeks later, I received another payment reminder. I contacted the gym and customer service but I’m not getting a response. So you’re trying to tell me that because of your apps faulty cancellation process I need to pay over 70 Euros? I hope this review will make them respond to me. I advice everyone to stay away from this company.

A very good neighborhood salon. I attended a hatha yoga session. I was very pleased. Both the teacher was successful and the hall was comfortable. The dressing room is also spacious and clean.

Was a member for a few years and had to resign recently. As other said, lots of machines are dated or broken. The locker rooms smell like mold and feel dirty. It’s way too busy in peak hours. The sauna area is constantly flooded and begs to avoided even with slippers. The only star I can give back to it is all the young people working the front desk are super chill and welcoming.

Overpriced for what it is. Machines are dated and often broken for months, the changing rooms dirty, and now during a heat wave the air conditioning is broken. Classes are mediocre at best. There are much better options in Amsterdam, wouldn't waste your time or money

It was a good gym. Now under SportCity rule it’s almost impossible to cancel the subscription. Why to subscribe it takes minutes and unsubscribe months??? Nobody from their staff can do anything, you have to do everything online or over the phone but they provide no confirmation and they keep charging you over and over again. When you block them they send you an email and blackmail that you must pay this or they are going to start charge extra fees on top. It happened to me, to my girlfriend and another friend... Coincidence? I don’t think so. It’s just scam. Don’t subscribe, use alternatives...

Generally a normal gym in the neighborhood with not much competition. Pluses: Pluses are spaciousness, relative ease of access, cleanness. Technogym free weight equipment is solid, mostly well used. Minus: bit mess with plates and weight - no matter when you come - its going to be mixed up in most places. (more basic gyms have better order than SC). in the evening would be more crowded with students, in daytime more elderly.

OK gym with rude and disrespectful trainers. Cleanliness and equipment malfunctions have already been called out by others but my issue is with the trainers. I've never had a problem like this in other gyms but had actual confrontations with some of them while I was working out and minding my own business. They act like they own the place, asking me to move even if I already started my workout, getting mad if I touch the window even if I need to open or close it because of the broken a/c, and telling me to stop using my cellphone as if I'm the only one using it.

The gym and service was great till SportCity acquired it. Unsubscribing is impossible. You cannot liase with staff and I had to chase them to make them to process my cancellation. It took me 3 months and cost me 79 euros eventually. My friend has experienced similar issues. Very poor account management.

For 60eu in the month, this gym is absolutely worthless. Lots of devices are broken for months and months while nothing is being done. Shame on you! Update 12-06: Air conditioning broke down; repair 6 july. 60eu in the month....

This review is not reflection on this specific location and it's employees. I have exchanged several emails with Sportcity asking why they continue to charge membership fees when the gym is closed. First email they told me I have access to the app excersies! So apparently paying €55 a month for an app is the same as working out at the gym and having access to equipment. After another email they said that there's no other options other than when I cancel my membership they give me extra time for the months I'm paying for now! Basically they say "too bad"!! From reading reviews of others who have tried to cancel their membership I am sure they will make it as difficult as they can when the time comes to cancelling. It's sad that they are taking advantage of their members. This location was great before Sportcity took over.

TLDR: if you’re looking for classes and different activities, this could be for you. If you primarily use weights/machines I would pass. Pros: Diverse activities from weights to classes and a green area for other training. 3-4 squat racks/bars. App that shows gym traffic insights and where you can book classes. Coffee/smoothie bar but haven’t tried it myself since there’s no one there when I’ve gone. Cons: It’s the only “commercial” gym in the area as far as I know so it’s always packed—even on a random day off at 11 am. It’s deceptively large but if you’re looking to go primarily for weights and cardio machines, the space for it is tiny and there are not many options. No one re-racks their weights and it’s not encouraged/reminded to do so, so it’s a huge pain point when I want to use a machine and first need to remove tons of plates each side by myself. Customer friendliness is 50/50–sometimes someone says hello but most of the time people just have their heads down. I really want to like this gym as it’s so close to my home so I’ll continue to see if it improves.

It is a good gym club, where staff makes genuine efforts to welcome you. It is relatively clean, the instructors are friendly and there is a variety of activities, plus a good number of group lessons. However, since I am have a full time job, I am able to attend the lessons after 18:00 only (my main interest is Pilates, Essentrics and Zumba). There are no Essentrics lessons in the evening during the week and the Zumba lesson, let's say, it is a bit disappointing (I was used to have lessons with the skilled, authentic, and charismatic Peter from Marnix). The locker room is really depressing - all dark, extremely basic, with some worn-out furniture on it. I avoid going there, but it will not be possible during winter time (I will have to leave jackets there). Considering that the club is a bit pricey, I was expecting a bit more from it. I have signed a 12 months contract, but I am already seriously thinking about finding a new place more focused in the kind of gym I want.

Very bad service when i wanted to end my subscription. They claim i have a two year subscription which is untrue and not what i paid for. I followed the terms and conditions to cancel my subscription but they do not accept it. Stay away!

A great workout place. The trainers and staf are always super helpful. The equipment is very good quality and enables me to achieve my best performance. Weights are always placed back in place by the visitors. Good vibes. Classes are on time and the teachers really push you that extra mile. 🦾

I really love the Zumba teacher (Sol) and her classes, the classes are dynamic, fun and strong. I am an overweight person so it has been a great way to do cardio and have fun. In addition to receiving excellent advice on how to take better care of my body. It's a 10 out of 10

So, the gym is clean and quite modern. However, considering its prices, if you are a serious heavy lifter, the free weight equipment is too limited. You were forced to wait in a long queue. Basic Fit offers you much better situation.

Nice gym but equipment breaks and isn’t repaired. We’ve been without a few key pieces for more than a month now. Would be really nice if they would recognise how irritating this is for their paying members but they just keep saying they can’t do anything about it.

A well equipped gym with lots of space. They also have lots of classes on. You can get a month's membership if you are only in town for a couple of weeks and want a good gym to go to.

They've got all the toys. The gym is much larger than the photos suggest. Opens early. Pumping iron!

😠 Unfortunate to see my favourite gym constantly in disrepair. Often taking weeks to months before simple issues are fixed. Cleanliness is also not as it used to be - WCs become disgusting later in the day. Calling customer support wasn’t helpful so I thought I’d post my complaints here.
