At only 5 euros, this is a bargain. The museum is in the basement of the owners house I think, and it was pretty cool. Though the fluorescent rocks are interesting and fun to look at on their own, the owners genuine passion and excitement to explain them is even more interesting. I’d advise this museum to anyone with a spare couple of hours. It’s a little out of the way and definitely not a ‘traditional’ kind of museum but is definitely worth the €5 we spent getting in. Be sure to take your credit cards, passports and driving licenses to see how they really look. If you’re scared by the dark or small, enclosed spaces this definitely isn’t for you.

Cute, but cluttered, little fluorescent art shop, with a little museum in the basement. Recommend booking a time in advance, as not many people can fit. The art, some (much?) of it created by the women running the shop is interesting, and while not exactly my style I know some people who would love the colours and look of the pieces. The museum below is just as big (or small) but less cluttered. The walls and cases are filled with all sorts of things that glow under black light. The guy who gives the tour is more than full of info all about the history, science, background, and all manner of knowledge of fluorescence! Seeing the art upstairs is cool, seeing the objects downstairs is super interesting, but really: you should be coming to listen to him and his stories and information. If you have any interest in this (and I didn't know I did before I went!) it's worth the price of admission to hear all the info. He's right, most people leave before he's done, but they're missing the best part: stories illuminated by black light.

Very cool lesser-known Amsterdam experience. The guy is very passionate about his art and the history behind his craft. Absolutely worth a stop by to see some unique art and have some good conversation.

A really interesting and unique experience. It's sort of a one-room museum very personal to the owner, Nick. He really knows his stuff and creates some of the art displayed with his girlfriend. The pictures don't do it justice. I would recommend getting tickets in advance, sometimes you get lucky (we just arrived and got in with just 3 random other people) but sometimes he doesn't feel like it (which I totally understand) or it might be too full (the group after us had probably 15 people and the room is just too small and hot to accommodate that many). So I imagine your experience will vary. If you're lucky to get in with a small group you'll see a unique perspective and he'll be able to answer any questions you might have.

Well worth the trip, you can tell its a labour of love by the people who run it! So welcoming and happy to show you around. Shame we couldn't stay longer for part two of the tour, but definitely want to visit again. Ignore bad reviews were people's bookings were cancelled last minute. They are running a business out of their own love and time. If you turn up and it's closed. Don't whine, go and find something else to do, it's Amsterdam after all! Will be coming again :)

It’s only 5€ so I can’t complain but keep in mind the museum is a crowded art studio upstairs and a small exhibit in the basement that takes up a small room. The artists were interesting characters and the artwork is interesting.

Tours go in around once every 30 minutes I think. It's literally a dude's basement and it's a bit tight but the people there are really worth it. While I waited for the tour to start, I hung out upstairs with a very nice lady Michele, who had a lot of really fascinating facts about the art and the science behind it. Nick, who gave the tour, had infectious passion for the subject and I think I could probably talk with him all day about his work. One of the few museums I've been in where I felt I really learned something more than random facts and figures. If you go in expecting some super polished and professional "museum" I'd say you might be out of place. Go in with an open mind and treat this as a social/cultural experience and you'll have a blast.

Listen. This is an immersive experience, if you as the visitor can leave your ego at the door and get involved in what's around you, you will not be disappointed. It's actually amazing, and if you care to listen and take notice you'll learn something as well. Me and my better half spent 45 minutes there and could have spent another 45 minutes looking at everything and speaking to the owners who are obviously wonderful people. I would definitely recommend, and I would definitely go back again. Thank you kind people of Electric Ladyland.

This place is a tourist trap, better called a scam. If you like loosing time and 5 euros, you are welcome to try it. It is just a verry small basement with no ventilation and a very strong smell of feet (you need to remove the shoes before entering). If i could i would have put 0 stars

A great experience! It's "only" one room but the tour from the owner is super authentic and interesting and I was completely immersed in his fascination for the fluoreszence! It felt more like the entire room (+tour) was one art piece instead of a museum. Definitely worth the 5€! :)

If I could give it ten stars I would. This place may be tiny, but it's an absolute Aladdin's Cave full of amazing & unexpected treasures. The main ones being its proprietors, Michele and Nick, from France & the USA - tourists for 38 years, he said. She's charming, & he's hilarious, & full of brilliant stories and wonderful information. It's only €7.50 per person (my son paid €5 because he's a student) & they say you'll spend half an hour to an hour there, but we were there nearly 2 as we were getting on so well. He stayed open late as we were chatting a lot. As for the exhibits, they're so cool and beautiful! Make sure you see everything under both types of UV light! Stuff they've made, stuff they've collected, and so much info about the history of florescent paints etc. I want to go back after some mushrooms! 💓💓💓 We had to wait to enter but didn't mind as there's an excellent café beside it- Jenifer St!

This place is way small than I thought. If you are claustrophobic do not go here. The guys has great stories and lots of knowledge about the subject. I wish he would expand his sculpture area that is small in the basement.

Absolutely fancy Gallery! The owners are really passionate and have a great knowledge about phosphorescence and fluorescence. Be sure to not mistake these! The place is a little bit small and crammed up, though. Still, the experience is totally worth it and there's no reason to complain about the entrance fee since you can count the amount on the fingers of one hand!

It is amazing place where you can get interesting tour. The entrance fee is only 5 euro, (only cash) it’s cheap for such quality and timing. I like nice lady from India and her husband from US who opened this place. They are kind and have big life experience. They collected these unusual rocks from different countries and now they have huge collection in the basement. I highly recommend you to visit it!

Amazing little museum for 5 Euros. It's small in size but has a ton of information and the founder was so passionate and interesting. This was my favorite activity in Amsterdam!

The worst place I have been to so far. The place is really a scam! It is actually a one basement tiny room, people over each other (covid who?), 0 ventilation so smells horrible, and actually nothing to see! The man thought it would be something valuable because he might have been high all his life but I really regret the 5 euros and 5 minutes spent on this place. It should not be listed among MUSEUMS!! Such a shame, horrible to say the least!!

I wanted to visit this for a long time, and it was really worth it. It lets you become a part of a piece of art. It's really cool to see such passionate people. I recommend it, no matter your age.

What an incredible little museum! The owner is really cool and I loved hearing his stories. The artwork he created was amazing and filled with surprises when you look closer. I wish he could transform a whole house like that! Overall, this was a magical experience and I learned a lot as well. I am an artist and designer and was really impressed with this whole other world that is right under our eyes but remains unseen.

Made a booking online and turned up 5 minutes before the timeslot. Waited around for a while, but nobody showed up. It would be good to let people know if you won't be open so they can choose to do something else instead. Especially if they're short on time in the city. I recommend either calling or emailing in advance to make sure it will be open. Otherwise, don't waste your time and do something else instead. Hopefully I get to visit on a future trip to the city.

A must-see in Amsterdam. Disclaimer!! It is only open to visit every hour, so make sure to plan ahead. The place is a 2-part art store and gallery where two fluorescence artists share their passion, the origin and use of fluorescence in art. The home made sculpture is also a perfect instagram spot. Though, you should come for the whole museum even if you may found deep explanations boring.

Really interesting little place! Great value for the low entry. The artist who does the demonstrations is probably one of the most fascinating guys I've ever had the pleasure of listening to - so many travel stories from someone who has clearly lived well!

Whackiest place to ever visit. Can’t prepare you for what’s in store because I don’t have the vocabulary to describe this amazing experience. 10/10 recommend

The Electric Ladyland Museum is a gem — very small, but an absolute pleasure to see. The collection of fluorescent art, together with naturally fluorescent materials is beautiful. Owner Nick is a treasure himself. We enjoyed the wealth of information he shared.

Very cool unique museum experience. Try to get there on the hour and stick around for the tour/presentation from the super chill guy who you'll meet there. Bring some of your local money/ID cards to see their cool symbols that show up under the black/UV light

Interesting wee exhibit with a very enthusiastic host. This certainly won't be everyone's cup of tea but for the reasonable price it was worth a look.

Really interesting museum, the owner is really knowledgeable about it all, for the price definitely worth a visit

An old man and a lady made this museum, you have to take off your shoes amd they are offering you slippers. Then the old man tells you about UV in a really enjoyable way!

It's good, very small, just one small room. It can get crowded and you can not always listen to the Presenter. Contains images/arts made from fluorescent material. Presenter will try to address as many as possible and show some facts about usage of fluorescent material in art and some other things.

Awesome friendly man! Told us so much about the different Lightings and Paintings. 10 OUT OF 10 RECOMMEND

  • 5/5 Carlo P. 2 years ago on Google
More than a museum, it's the life work of a great artist, who dedicated his life to fluorescent art. Don't let the small size of the room fool you, it's dense of thing to see and Nick (the artist) will talk you through every rock/object/poster with passion and detailed knowledge. I left the museum inspired and feeling lucky to have met a TRULY psychedelic artist.
