Beautiful building of the “Amsterdam School” of architecture. Take the guided tour, it is very worthwhile and gives a good overview not only of the architecture, but also the social context of moving from slums to social housing. The Amsterdam school is a sister movement to Art Nouveau, and influenced not only architecture but also art and furniture.

The museum is dedicated to the Amsterdam School of Architecture. Would recommend visiting for people who are interested in architecture. There is a guided tour available and this is must visit for everyone (the one starting at 15:00 is in English). Learned a lot about the Amsterdam School, architects of that time and history of Amsterdam society in the beginning of XX century.

Superb museum located inside famous 1920s Amsterdam School-designed social housing block. Excellent, though not huge, display space details history of Amsterdam School as movement in interwar Dutch art and architecture and design, as well as temporary exhibitions, with many authentic, original items on view. 45-minute tours of building in the afternoons on the hour, including one at 3:00 PM in English. English tour led by Bjorn was especially good and informative, even for me, a historian of modern architecture at the Univ of Edinburgh. Staff are very friendly and courteous. Highly recommended, esp for architecture or modern art enthusiasts!

If your are into architecture and the Amsterdam school style, this museum is a must. Tip: at 3pm starts a free guided tour in English and you can visit the port office and one of the old original apartments. Very much worth it to time your visit so you can take part in it. At the museum shop you can buy a book with 4 different bike/walk tours in the city to visit the most significant buildings. The staff was amazing. They were very helpful and gave me a lot of extra information.

[visited in Jan 2023] Famous apartment building for the Amsterdam School movement from the turn of the last century. Very informative permanent exhibition on the Amsterdam School. Highly recommended if you’re interested about why city’s so special from an urban development and architectural point of view.

The museum takes part of the house. There are dwellers in the other part. The museum consists of apartment, replication of the slum dwelling, permanent and temporary excebition. The architecture is awesome. To get to the apartment you should go to the courtyard via caffe. After that open small wooden green door in the wall next to the section of the house with tower. The permanent excebition offers furniture and art objects in the Amsterdam School period. The text and narrative are both in Dutch and English. There's an English excursion with guide at 15:00. With an exception of the apartment the museum is fully accessible by ♿. There were parking spaces on the street behind museum. Highly recommend walking around whole building. There are a few charming building from the same period behind it. Reserve a few hours for your visit.

The highlight of the museum is the guided tour, which is undoubtedly the best activity offered. Led by knowledgeable and passionate guides, the tour provides deep insights into the history, design, and significance of the Amsterdam School architectural movement. The guides are well-versed in the subject matter and provide fascinating anecdotes and stories that bring the history to life. The building itself is a masterpiece of architecture, designed by Michel de Klerk, one of the prominent architects of the Amsterdam School movement. The intricate brickwork, unique detailing, and innovative use of space are a testament to the creativity and craftsmanship of the era. The museum does an excellent job of showcasing the building's design elements and explaining the social and cultural context in which it was built.

Het Schip 'the ship' was a amazing- our tour guide knew his stuff- and made the experience a one of a kind- learnt so much about the times that brought about social housing and the Architects who created all the buildings and the influence. The Post was epic

(Translated by Google) What makes it so special to visit this museum is the discovery of this pearl in the Spaarndammerbuurt. This can be experienced both indoors and outdoors. You can see and learn a lot about architecture, history and art. Anyway: it will make you a nicer and smarter person. So just come. If you're wondering how come A'dam is so well designed and street facades follow a pattern, if you're curious about Dutch design or need context for the countless housing rules here, this is a great place to learn how the orderly, picturesque, UNESCO treasure we know came to be relatively recently and not without social and political struggle for justice and equality. Entry includes a great tour by a super friendly medewerker in parts of the building and courtyard.

(Translated by Google) One of the architectural highlights in Amsterdam. The entire building 'Het Schip' has the most beautiful brickwork. The museum provides a lot of information about this Amsterdam architectural style. My grandparents used to live under one of the two turrets in Zaanstraat. No revolution construction, but all craftsmanship for the common citizen. Sign up for one of the guided tours of the neighborhood and you will be amazed by so many beautiful things. Geen revolutiebouw maar allemaal vakmanschap voor de gewone burger. Schrijf je in voor een van de rondleidingen door de buurt en je zult verbaast staan van zoveel moois.

Public housing block from the 1920's with great architectural details. Surrounded by a whole quarter of housing projects from the same Era, this one stands out due to the surprising construction details. If you take the guided tour, be prepared to do it again but with another guide, as they all have their own focus on specific parts of the history of the building. Recently restored with better matching stonework.

Built by the people for the people! Socialist housing organisation Eigenhaard build this big block of appartments just east of Amsterdam Central Station, in the old harbour district know as Spaarndammerbuurt. The museum offers a guided tour in Dutch and English which teaches you about the origins of a lot of details about the building. The tour takes you through the integrated Post office and finishes inside one of the many tiny apartments. Want to see what Dutch social housing was like, start in 1900, start here!

Het Schip is a gorgeous architecture museum about the Amsterdam School in Amsterdam West - it is actually located inside a prime example of the Amsterdam School, the social housing block called "The Ship" (Het Ship). Built by architect Michel de Klerk in 1919 of signature red brick. The museum has a great hourly inside and outside guided tour, a museum floor you can also self guide on very well, and a nice museum cafe for coffee or lunch time dishes. Very friendly volunteers run the show here. Paid for parking is possible on the curbside essentially during museum hours.

Lovely staff, fascinating building. With the tour you get to see a few things you would not otherwise. The 2 floors of exhibit are rather disappointing... They did not offer much more than what I can read in a book on the topic. There may be programs/activities that offer more here that I may not be aware of... The coffee shop (lunch room) is lovely.
