Meh... It is a five floor collection of errotic art that is very focused on heteronormative experiences perceived from the male gaze. It is smack in the center of the red light district which is also mostly exclusively designed to cater to the male gaze. As a female tourist visiting out of morbid curiosity, it is quite depressing to walk past and see all the bored sex workers. The museum itself includes a few interesting pieces, some subpar erotic drawings and a few pieces that are quite racially insensitive. It isn't terribly well curated and I wouldn't enter with the expectation of actually learning anything. It could be an entertaining experience if you are a drunk college kid I guess.

Erotic Museum in Amsterdam is a fascinating and liberating experience that delves into the realm of human sensuality and sexuality. This museum provides a tasteful and open-minded approach to a subject often considered taboo. The exhibits are diverse and thoughtfully curated, showcasing a wide range of artistic expressions of eroticism through various mediums. From vintage photographs to contemporary art pieces, the collection is both extensive and engaging. The historical context provided for each exhibit adds depth to the overall experience. In summary, the Erotic Museum in Amsterdam offers a unique journey through the diverse expressions of human sensuality. Its open-minded approach, combined with the rich and engaging exhibits, make it a worthwhile visit for those with an interest in this aspect of human culture and expression.

7 Euro ticket, definitely not a world class museum. It feels like a private collection of sex toys and historical items. I'd call this an exhibition rather than a museum.

Cheap and basic. The museum has 5 floors but each floor is small. Decent collection of art and little statues of funny sex stuff. Good collection of artwork from John Lennon. Tiny stairs and it gets difficult to walk when it is crowded.

8 Euros per person for a ticket here… fun & enjoyable experience! If your on the red light district and need some quiet away from the busy streets - this is the perfect stop gap.

Had a good time in this museum, the place had art, collectable items, funny cartoons, old pornography photos, wax models the lot. Good photo ops and an enjoyable time. They also have a very cheap gift shop! Which beats every probably every other gift shops price in Amsterdam

A visit to the museu is worth the time if you're in Amsterdam. It should give you a good laugh and is one of the attractions in the famous red light district. Entry is fairly cheap (€7) and there are loads of different artefacts (sexual in nature of course) on each of the four floors. You're allowed to take pictures and there are brief descriptions of what you're looking at below each artefact. A self-guided tour of the whole place should take you say 15 minutes, unless of course you choose to read each and every description of all artefacts. There's a toy shop on the ground floor in case you choose to purchase a ermm...souvenir. Overall it was well worth the visit and a good stopover when touring the district as a whole.

The first place I would recommend to head for in the daytime is the popular ‘Sex Museum’. Learn about the history of sex, see a range of erotic paintings and objects, and enjoy a leisurely walk around this quite entertaining attraction. You will find some of the rooms quite small, but the collection which the museum has amassed is quite impressive and certainly worth a visit. Do expect a few shocks and to see some things you have not seen before. Learn more of our adventures on IG: andrew.anne.adventures

An interesting little place. Not sure if museum is the right word for it, more like a gallery of assorted erotic art and objects. Would probably be better to come with someone else so you can take better pictures with the interactive parts or the exhibit.

7 euros to get in, 5 floors but not really something you want to see. The small sex shop they have is ok with prices. Check my pictures before you waste 7 euros.

The museums quite outdated and although it didn’t cost much and was just something to do on the red light district it just didn’t seem worth it. Most of the place is just a few sculptures nothing to interesting. I recommend the Venus Temple if you’re looking for a similar type of vibe. Lots of stairs which is expected in Amsterdam.

The gentleman at the kiosk was the quintessence of a film style ticket master. Perfect service on entry. The queues were very short and as a tourist attraction it was definitely worth the 9€ entry. There's plenty to see and read about through the ages. The building was also a delight to walk through - if you're not a prude and up for a laugh, I would definitely recommend a visit.

The museum is 3 floors. You must start from the top and descend down. It’s pretty cool and you see some interesting things but don’t expect something out of this world.

Amazing museum I never see something like that before so much sex Art and funny. I could say it's for people who are more open minded and dont find sex for something bad or disgusting 😀 very well spend 7 euro 💶 for entrance I think even after few years more this museum twill be much more value

I excluded 1 star because it’s a really small museum. But I would say it’s worth to see. If you’re interested in art and history just go there, if you wanna see kinky stuff don’t come here and just go to a store or something

A small museum but packed with all sorts of delicious erotic art. Recommended visit to explore one of the oldest art forms, bound to arouse your senses.

The staff were lovely, we bought the tickets and I needed to use the toilet but they don't have a toilet and told me to go to the pub two doors down and come back and we could still use the ticket. I expected it to be much better it literally doesn't take long and also mind you're step when you get to each door. It's a little funny on the 2nd floor but that's about it. It's chea to do so it's not to bad it's something I can tick of thelist of things to do in Amsterdam.

Fun little place to spend some spare time in. Not as large or historical as the Venustempel museum, would recommend this more for a cheap laugh but they did have some gorgeous unique artwork on display. Multiple floors with stairs only so no disability access but this is common with older buildings/smaller establishments so wasn't a surprise.

Interesting place but I wish they had more descriptive plaques to provide and explain what exactly it is that you're looking at and how the different levels have been categorised.

It was alright, nothing too special, a bit fun to browse through the museum. It was one of the museums that worked really late and if you have time while you explore red light district, you can easily check this museum out, it will take on average 30-60min.

One can learn about the history of erotica in the Netherlands through erotic objects, posters, photographs many magazines. It depends on the point of view on that matter and expectations. It is located in a several- story house in Red Light District. There you have the opportunity to look inside in a typical building in this area. Around EUR 7 ticket.

Really enjoyed the museum despite the many poor reviews. Came here as part of my research and found the exhibits to be quite entertaining with an artistic flair to some of the artefacts and displays. Highly recommended to visit! We were there on 24 August around 11am and there wasn't a queue, space was easy to cover in less than an hour, more if you're analysing. Plus point, the receptionist was absolutely lovely, there wasn't a toilet on the premises but he very kindly guided us to a nearby pub that could help with that-- really appreciated the gesture.

The museum is a good activity to do when in the red light district. Slightly expensive for what it is but you’ll have a laugh and it is enjoyable. i would recommend.

We were disappointed with the lack of information given, but it was fun, and there's a surprise upstairs that we found funny 🤫

Quick, fun tour that isn’t too expensive! Worth it if you’ve got 30 minutes to spare.

Going in the gentleman at the door was extremely friendly and welcoming we paid €7 pp. Alot of stairs as a few floors to go up to make your way around but if you're good with stairs worth going in and taking a look it won't take you long to get round.

Interesting place. The rooms and stairs and very small and uncomfortable to walk into.

  • 4/5 Tim C. 1 year ago on Google
Very weird but amazing haha. Entry is quite inexpensive, don't remember the exact price but it was definitely under 10€. There is a "penny" (5 cent) press so if you're a collector then go get one! Has 3-4 floors filled with what you'd expect but honestly if you don't want to go to any other place in the area then this place is a safe bet.

It was interesting and busy added to a great night out in dam , lots of tight stairs with some interesting manakins, worth a look

  • 1/5 Amandine B. 2 years ago on Google
Just skip it! There is not much to see, it's not a museum but a place where you can take a few funny pictures. Also, there is no description to the images/figures, so you're not going to learn much. Definitely not worth the 7euros entrance.

A simple Museum for the tourist. Nevertheless a good small collection on the first floor

  • 5/5 Юлия 5 years ago on Google
Place worth to be seen at least once, when being to Amsterdam. There is a small sex shop by the entrance) a lot of promotions) There is no toilet in the museum. And museum by itself has 3 floors. An exhibition isn't much usuful or informative, rather a bit confused or embarrassing, but still interesting)
