This magnificent museum chronicles the history of the Dutch Royal Family, the House of Orange. Truly fascinating! It's really a must-see when you are in Delft. There is so much to learn about th the life of the founding father of the Netherlands

A little bit of culture today at the Museum Prinsenhof Delft. The museum is fully dedicated to Willem van Oranje, Prince of Orange, Count of Nassau, and de Vader des Vaderlands. Lots of history about the 80 year war between the Nederlands and Spain. The museum is a great place for a bit of Dutch history. The museum itself was the residence of Willem van Orange and the place he was killed in 1584. You can even still see the bullet hole on the wall! Worth visiting, there is a nice cafe too to relax after all the histories and arts. Mooi

This museum is very rich in its collection though not that big. Still it took me 2,5 hours to see the exhibits and enjoy the atmosphere of William the Silent (Willem van Oranje) epoch. I think that it’s worth including it into your must see list when you are in Delft.

Perfect place to learn more about William the Orange/ the Silent and famous painter Vermeer. Finding the entrance of the Museum is a bit tricky as it has almost like a side entrance. Signs are everywhere, so you will not get lost. Airy room once you get in. You will find your way in and greeted by the staff who is handling the audio guide. Coffee shop is available in the premises. Boutique is at site. The entire building is big, so follow the map with matching # on each door of the room, so you won’t miss any of the exhibition. Mind your head on the doorway. Washrooms are available in between the visit. I love how they present the audio against the art, so as the story telling. It was really a lovely visit.

Chaotic museum. Had to backtrack several times, signs are weirdly placed. Some signs suggest a painting that isn’t there (see photo). The best (the Delft master collection) is hidden as a side show. Some weird inclusion of modern women of Delft? What do they have to with the Dutch revolution? Feels like a last minute after thought to satisfy modern feelings?

The museum is small and the collections are pretty chaotic. The staff was rude and refused to speak to us in English. We were constantly supervised by them, so we could not properly enjoy the exhibitions. Disappointed

The museum is situated in the Prinsenhof (Prince’s palace) in Delft in the Netherlands. It served as a residence for William the Silent, who was assassinated there in 1584 - the holes in the wall made by the bullets at the main stairs are still visible.

This is the museum you should visit first in Delft. I recommend the audio tour, while it does need improvement it does give a lot of information on certain topics and people.

The museum Prinsenhof is a fun visit mainly for the imprints the events here have left on Dutch History. Its interesting to see a part of history come to life on the famous stairs. The exposition on the uprising are interesting with some beautiful paintings, but not very expansive. Many more stories could be told if the museum wanted. Especially if they did away with the completely random exhibition on some artist the name of whom I have already forgotten.

Located in the Delft city, the building has a remarkable historical background. It was originally a monastery in 15th century and then later served as the residence of William of Orange. Now it is a collection that aims on the art and history Delft, including the famous Delftware ceramics.

This is a place of great historical importance of Dutch history. The great William of Orange were asaissinated inside this building. He was main leader of Dutch independence against Spanish. He is referred as "Father of Fatherland" of the Netherlands. Great leader.

One of the best museum visits I have had in the Netherlands. The most fascinating is that the bullet holes from when Willem van Oranje was murdered in 1584, is conserved in the wall. There is a light animation showing where he walked and from where he was shot. Fascinating stuff! Entrance is free with the museum card.

This museum is engaging, historically important and makes good use of various mediums: installation, visual art, audio, video, and more. A wonderful experience and there's still more to be seen!

Why aren't the Dutch speaking Spanish? Because this is the house where Dutch resistance started and the formation of the independent Dutch country began. This museum depicts beautiful paintings that tells the story of the 80 year long war against the Spanish for independence. The estate that houses the museum was owned by William of Orange. The one who promoted the rebellion against the Spanish. It has some beautiful hidden architectural features like chiseled artwork on bricks behind a firestove and bullet holes from an assassination attempt against him. It also shows paintings from an artist that specialised in daily social life of the Dutch and there is a wing about the famous blue Delftware. Great information with a free audiotour. Definitely worth the visit if you want to know more about the formation and struggles of the Netherlands to become their own free nation.

I found the museum beautiful and the staff were friendly, except for one worker. I didn't know that it was not allowed to take video recordings, so I recorded a video of a painting because I liked the background music. Then, the worker asked me to delete the video and spoke to me loudly, which made all the visitors stare at me. This made me feel embarrassed and uncomfortable.

The Prinsenhof Museum, nestled in the heart of Delft, a city renowned for its rich historical tapestry and vibrant ceramic industry, stands as a beacon of Dutch heritage and art. Housed in a former convent that was later transformed into the court of William of Orange, the museum offers a profound journey through the pivotal moments of Dutch history, with a particular focus on the Eighty Years' War and the life of William of Orange himself, who was tragically assassinated on the premises in 1584. Upon entering the Prinsenhof Museum, visitors are immediately immersed in the historical significance of the building. The museum does an exemplary job of preserving the sense of history embedded within its walls, including the very bullet holes from the assassination of William of Orange, which are thoughtfully preserved and presented. This not only adds a tangible sense of reality to the historical narrative but also deepens the connection between the visitor and the past. The museum's collection is both diverse and meticulously curated, featuring a wide array of exhibits that include fine Delftware pottery, which showcases the city's pivotal role in the development of this iconic blue and white ceramic. The artistry and craftsmanship of the pieces on display are a testament to the skill and creativity of the artisans who have made Delftware sought after worldwide. In addition to its historical and ceramic collections, the Prinsenhof Museum also hosts temporary exhibitions that delve into various aspects of Dutch art, culture, and history, providing fresh perspectives and reasons to revisit. The museum's dedication to educational outreach is evident in its interactive displays and multimedia presentations, which engage audiences of all ages and backgrounds, making history accessible and compelling. One of the museum's most notable features is its stunning architecture and the tranquil courtyard garden, offering a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of the city and a moment to reflect on the historical narratives unfolded within its walls. The museum staff's hospitality and knowledge further enhance the visitor experience, with guided tours offering deeper insights into the exhibits and the historical context of the Netherlands. The Prinsenhof Museum is not just a repository of artifacts; it is a vibrant cultural institution that bridges the past and the present, inviting visitors to explore the depths of Dutch history and culture. For those seeking to understand the roots of Dutch identity and the seismic events that shaped the nation, the Prinsenhof Museum in Delft is an essential visit. Its rich collections, historical significance, and engaging presentation make it a standout museum, captivating the imagination and enriching the understanding of all who walk through its historic doors.

Great place to learn about the local history in a very vivid way that makes you travel back in time, but also to admire, apart from the wonderful paintings, a few very good pieces of the characteristic blue and white pottery in the place their art was born. There is also the option you create your own digital pottery and get it with you in your email. I would totally recommend it if you are visit Delft.

Museum with three topics, William the Silent, Delftware and Delft Masters. A lot of good materials, however the museum were not laid out nicely, with three topics route intertwined which is quite confusing. The displays lack concrete message… I left the museum with not much ideas what’s going on inside.

I visited for first time the Prinsenhof Museum for the exhibition Het Delft van Vermeer. I liked the Garden and the museum it self. I loved the fact it was a former monastery and all these little corridors and rooms. In a point was a bit like labyrinth...it was really very beautiful. Location is also very good. It is NOT for people with dissabilities...has also stairs and I didn't see an elevator.

Another must visit when in Delft! Learned a lot about William the Silent and Dutch history in 16th century.

Small museum but really interesting exhibits on William of Orange and silverware (surprising to me as I’m usually not into the latter usually). All translated into English. I’m glad the ticket lady convinced me to get the audioguide for €2.50 bc it definitely enhances the experience. I was there overall about 1.5 hours so whilst I think €12.50 is still pretty steep for that short a time, I still learned a lot. Beautiful courtyard outside the museum as well with a great cafe.

Small museum, showcasing the life & assasination of willem orange. There is also a porcelain exhibit amd some paintings of dutch masters kept in a room upstairs (the floor is super creaky and takes away from admiring the pieces of art)

A beautiful venue for functions, which is how we came to experience this magnificent site. Historically significant, renovated, situated around a water well and stone walls with glass enclosures. Just, yes. The museum is informative and there is much to purchase all over.

The museum sits in a complex with the Wallon church and a garden/grave site. The garden is beautifully manicured with benches to sit and enjoy the view. The Wallon church is very austere. There is a preekstoel worth getting a glance at. The museum has a permanent collection as well as temporary exhibitions. The gift shop and restaurant round out the experience.

Beautifully curated, small museum dedicated to the founding father of the Netherlands and not only! Entry is possible without prior scheduling, and the Museumkaart is accepted. There is also locker storage for belongings, free audio guides in both English and Dutch and a nice little coffee corner to enjoy a break. The museum features many pieces centered around William the Silent and his revolution against the austere Spanish rule and suppression of protestants, along with other exemplary pieces, usually tied to the city of Delft in some form or another. There is also a beautiful flower garden with a statue of Willem in the courtyard of the old monastery which houses the museum. A visit is recommended, especially if you're interested in the Dutch royal family and the history of Delft.

Beautiful museum, which gives a great summary of art and artists from Delft. Very interesting history of King Willem of Orange, in a building that him and his family once occupied. The history of the building itself is also varied and fascinating. A definite must-see for art & history lovers. Staff are also friendly & facilities are clean and neat.

Was nice learning about Dutch history but some things were not true. Eg, the portray of Jesus. Jesus had hair like sheep, curls or coils not straight hair and was definitely not white.

Is this a historical museum or an art museum? It is both. This museum explores the significance of key events and players, with some great art, that shaped modern day Netherlands, Belgium and Spain.
