At first glance it is a castle from the Middle Ages. It was actually completed in the 20th century by a Dutch nobleman who wanted to create a monument to his ancestors with an art and porcelain collection. A guided tour only makes sense for visitors who speak Dutch; everyone else is given a printout with translations to ask for understanding.

In actual fact we buy tickets only for the garden view. Well laid out landscaped gardens from the time of old century wise Dutch gardening up to forest, maze, herb and rose gardens depending on the season. Good investment to enjoy a lot

Beautiful castle and nice garden. Visit only with a guide. Nice opportunity to train your Dutch.

Beautiful castle and location. Unfortunately I drove there for nothing (closed in winter) even though the site states that the castle would be open.

Considerably recent castle telling the history of it's owners. On Saturdays you can only visit during tour hours. Not all guides speak English. On Sundays you can visit by yourself. This place accepts museum card. Garden is very beautiful and you can visit it for free.

Small but interesting building. A very eclectic collection of items, but also re-cycled materials used to build it! Nice mix of woodland and formal gardens, and there is also a maze! Nice little café too.

Unfortunately it was closed, according to the site it would be open...spent in the car for 1 hour for nothing 😞

Stunning. Highly recomend it. The staff is friendly and absolutely knowledgeable. A guide presents you with particular pieces of the collection from room to room. The fun continues in the garden: you can sit by the fountain, visit the maze, or walk through different paths admiring diverse trees and flowers.

Small castle (19th century) but very nice looking, beautiful gardens, very photogenic, ideal location for weddings/ party’s or just taking a walk in the gardens.

Very nice tea garden in Wateland, just north of Amsterdam, close to the village of Monnickendam. Here, they have the very best apple pie that I have ever tasted. Only open in summertime and around the weekend. They have a lovely garden in the middle of Dutch countryside. They have a small menu of very nice and tasty sandwiches. Go there for coffee (do NOT forget to order the apple pie!), lunch or a tea party with friends. They also rent electric boats to sail the muncipality Waterland with its very many little canals. You could order a picknick for your boat trip.

This place is quite interesting. The garden is absolutely spectacular. The "castle" is a modern rebuild, but it is extremely well done ... more an historical work of art than just a simple reconstruction. It really gives you a feel of these wonderful old Utrecht manor houses without the crowds. We will go back.

A lovely small castle/museum complete with beautiful gardens to explore. Knowledgeable local guide - if you are English, like me, a general guide is available from the small shop. As a bonus the cafe restaurant on site serves good food!

Nice terrace beneath the castle. Great place for a coffee. Had a delicious piece of home made cake. Castle also offers a tour. A walk around the grounds is also an option. The terrace also has a bar.

Very friendly staff, makes you feel very welcome even during Covid-19. Some parts were unfortunately closed because they can't be safely accessed while keeping 1.5 meter distance, so I'm definitely coming back to see what I've missed.

A medieval castle that was build only 100 years ago to rebuild a family castle that actually never existed. Add to that, that the castle was never meant to live, but was almost intended as a museum for the founder's personal collection. Guided tour takes an hour and the ticket includes entrance to the gardens. Inside the castle are various collections but the majority are porcelain/pottery and portrait painting. A bit to much porcelain for my taste, but the tour is interesting and just long enough. The gardens are beautifully divided into several themes. Very nice to walk through. Altogether it's easy to spend 2/2,5 hours here and than have a drink at the restaurant at the terrace. Free parking options in the area, entrance reasonable. Lots of stairs, so not suitable for less mobile persons.

The Castle was closed but we enjoyed the beautiful garden. A very friendly volunteer worker explained us the history of the castle: The castle itself is not from the middle ages. But it was built about 100 years ago with materials from the middle ages and also in that style.
