We order spicy boat noodles and braised duck noodles for to go. Spicy boat noodles is VERY good, soup is flavorful and spiced very nicely, 5 stars. Braised duck noodles is mediocre, 3 stars. Given the price is a bit higher end, I want to give 3.9 stars. It's a place worth to try and i would definitely go back for the spicy boat noodles But not the duck noodles.

DELICIOUS FOOD! The broth was not overly salty but still so much flavor. The Roti appetizer was bomb we ordered another!! Food came out fast. Service was good. Bathroom was clean. Cannot recommend enough!

The boat noodles are really good; possibly the best I've had outside of Thailand. Quite spicy! Supposedly they can turn down the heat only slightly by request.

Right in Chinatown, nothing fancy, very small (6 tables). We walked by looked and thought no way, then I noticed every table full. So we had to wait for a table and it was worth it. We had the duck soup with noodles, coconut curry chicken and a very spicy ground pork with a very soft home made tofu.

The hot and sour pork noodles is hands down the best item on the menu. It’s full of flavour and loaded with ingredients. The braised duck noodle was too mild and overall not that tasty. We also ordered the mapo tofu which had decent flavour but for $17, the portion was small and not worth it. I’ve also tried the spicy boat noodles and thought it was just alright, nothing spectacular. Fat Mao is great if you’re looking for something quick and comforting, but just note that some items are a hit or miss.

Delicious! I first heard about this restaurant a couple months ago in a show called "you gonna eat here" hosted by John Catucci and I gotta say, it really lived up to the name! I ordered the hot and sour pork noodles and it was really spicy and had a very strong flavor with humongous portions, by the time I finished I was beyond stuffed. The service was incredibly polite and kind with quick service and classy and chic ambiance. 10/10 will be back for more.

Fat Mao Noodles, nestled in the heart of Chinatown, Vancouver, is an unmissable culinary gem. The star of my recent visit was undoubtedly their signature chicken noodles, accompanied with thick, luscious Shanghai wide noodles. The broth was a symphony of flavors, masterfully balanced and seasoned, leaving a rich and savory imprint on the palate. Its taste was enveloping and satisfying, a testament to Fat Mao's nuanced understanding of noodle artistry. Equally impressive was the Thousand Year Egg appetiser; a dish that was fascinatingly complex and yet, astoundingly straightforward. Its texture, the harmony of flavors, everything was an elegant dance that added depth to the overall culinary narrative. The exceptional service was the icing on the cake, making the dining experience as delightful as the food itself. Fat Mao Noodles unquestionably excels in delivering an authentic and satisfying noodle experience that is worth every moment spent there. This is a destination that proves time and again, the transformative power of food when crafted with precision and passion. Highly recommended.

I think this restaurant is already pretty well known so I don’t have to say much about it. Ordered takeout from them on a Friday late afternoon and was able to pick it up in 15 minutes. Everything was neatly packed and clearly labeled. Got the Hot and Sour Pork Noodles, Braised Duck Noodles and Wing Bean Salad. Delicious and comforting. I was worried about the portion size so ordered an extra serving of noodles. We ended up saving the extra noodles for next day because the portions were adequate for us. Definitely not small. I would say price is on the higher side especially for the area but totally worth it.

This has been one of my best experiences in the past few times I have been out! The second I walked in I felt welcomed even though it was very busy, I had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. We ordered the spicy boat noodles, the khao soi chicken curry noodles and the thai iced tea. Everything was super good, such a great place to go when you just want a bowl of comfort noodles. The shanghai wide noodles were my favorite, soo chewy. The only thing I wish could have been changed was the pork blood in the spicy boat noodles. It is mixed into the broth so can’t be taken out and the whole time I could feel like I could taste the blood taste which isn’t my cup of tea. Besides that the flavor and meat was great, and the chicken curry soup is so heart warming. The service was great through the whole experience I would definitely come back on any noodle craving.

Wonderful noodle’s definitely the best I’ve had in a long time. The spice level was adjustable for my low spice tolerance. Thai iced tea was also amazing!

Small hole-in-the-wall shop with fast and friendly service. I made the mistake of snacking before coming here, thinking I'd be fine and it wouldn't be that much food anyways. WRONG! Come here hungry! The food is packed with flavor and is served fresh. Seating is pretty limited so be careful if you have a big party or if you see that it's super busy. I feel bad because I couldn't finish my food nor take it to go since my lodging doesn't have a place for me to store it. I need to come here once more before I fly back home, for sure!

The food, especially their signature chicken noodle, is Thai & Malaysia fusion. Soup could be a bit salty but once you add the lime, it becomes very saturated and natural👍 Shrimps in the Tom Yum soup we’re AWESOME, there are like 6 big white shrimps in a bowl, tasted very fresh, you gotta give it a try. Won’t recommend the shangHai wide noodle unless you enjoy the half cooked texture.

It tastes better than I expected. The curry chicken leg noodles and duck leg noodles are highly recommended, with just the right amount of sweetness to make the noodles stand out.

A little shop in Vancouver Chinatown. There was a line up but we did not have to wait too long. Ordered the braised duck noodle, Tom Yum goong, and the Khao Soi chicken curry noodles. All were delicious. Excellent soups and friendly service. Only downside was the air conditioning was not working so the temperature of the room was a bit warm. But will definitely go back as the food is awesome.

Tried the Boat Noodles with Fat Wide Vermicelli sub and was obsessed. The broth was so deep and flavorful and didn’t have excessive (if any at all?) five spice which so many boat noodles out there do. Perfect mix of spicy, tangy and savory umami. Beef was also super super tender

Had the spicy boat noodles and my friend had the braised duck noodles. Service was great and they offered us Thai Iced Tea for the delay in our order. The noodles and meat were cooked perfectly. My friend and I did prefer the broth on the Spicy Boat Noodles.

Their boat noodle was awesome. Very rich and tasty broth with assorted ingredients with a little bit of spicy. I was really surprised by the flavour in my first visit. The service was great and the server was very attentive. The restaurant was well maintained with clean and tidy environment. The ventilation was good so I didn’t get the smell sticked on my jacket for the whole day. This is definitely a place to re-visit again and I will order some other noodles to try next time.

Excellent service! The food came in very fast and despite being super busy, the staff came to check on us every now and then. The food was good! The portion sizes were quite big too! Except that it’s a little bit too spicy. I liked the ambiance of the restaurant, it’s quite cozy and nice.

My sis and I stopped by Fat Mao since it’s near our hotel. After 15hrs flight, we wanted something easy and warm for our stomach. The Khao Soi was delicious and not too spicy so my sis can actually enjoy it since she can’t handle spicy well. The beef brisket noodle was good as well, althought I do find it a tad too salty (but again I don’t really like salty food so it’s just my personal preference). The price is more on the higher end for a bowl of noodle but the quality is good. The portion is quite generous, I couldn’t finish the noodle. Overall we enjoy the food. The atmosphere is not bad, place is a bit tight but cozy. We paid $47+ for 2 bowls of noodles.

Can’t stop thinking about the soup. Can’t stop dreaming about the soup. The soup is truly life changing. A bowl of flavourful, spicy, warm perfection. A small but perfect menu. A wonderful balance of flavours in every dish. The vegetarian khao soi is everything you’ll ever need in a soup - you won’t even miss the meat. Do yourself a favour and eat here.

One of the few restaurants in the city serving up Thai soup noodles. We waited 1.5 hours on a Saturday evening however the food was very tasty. The restaurant served the food very efficiently.

The Thai food I’ve tried before this was mainly stir fried noodles or deep fried appetizers. We came to Fat Mao as an alternative and it ended up being one of our favorite foods! The menu options are so unique and each noodle soup item has lots of ingredients (lots of meats and veg!) The broth is so flavorful and I love how spicy it is. We finished our bowls so fast.

The food overall is delicious, almost authentic Thai noodle. Only not feel comfortable with the tables inside the restaurant. It’s quite packed. The portion was decent. Recommend Thai Boat noodle but beware that its spicy.

"Great flavor! The noodle soup here is delicious and satisfying. I highly recommend it!" Personal recommendations are the: Tom Yum Goong & Hot and Sour Pork Noodles

Have only had the Khao soi but it is amazing. The broth is very flavourful, the chicken falls off the bone, and the Shanghai wide chewy noodles all make for the perfect meal.
