Review for North American Visitors. Disclaimer: This review is written for a person that never visited Germany before. Skip this review if you are a well seasoned traveler. Bottom Line Up Front: Highly recommend this hotel.  The hotel is in the middle of the historic downtown. The staff are extremely friendly, accommodating, and speak perfect English. Review: I have been staying here for almost a month (out of my 60 days reservation) and I am thoroughly happy with my stay.  This hotel is both a restaurant that serves authentic german food (downstair) and hotel (upstairs).  The building is historic but the owner did a excellent job at preserving the history while modernizing and upgrading the building with modern amenities.  For example, every room has a keypad door (no need to hassle on those magnetic room card), broadband/fast wifi, LED lighting, and LCD TVs.  The furniture is modern/contemporary. PROs: -Location:  You are in the middle of downtown Ansbach. This mean everything is within walking distance from shopping, eating, parks, etc. -Professional Staff: The staff members are professional and accommodating. I believe the owner has both an educational and professional background working in the hotel/hospitality industry and this hotel reflects her experience. -EV Charger: I saw that they have two types of EV charger (to include a Tesla one). -Parking: Parking space is extremely limited here in Germany. Luckily, the hotel has parking.  There are 4 spots in front and you can reserve a space for a small fee (I think $12 a day which is extremely reasonable and affordable). There is a large public parking in the back and other parking space (hourly charges) nearby. CONs (These are no fault to the hotel. It is more of a German cultural thing). -HVAC: Not every room has an Air Conditioner or a fan. It can be a little warm in the summer. Recommend you bring a small USB travel type fan with you or buy a cheap fan at the local convenience store. -Fridge: Not every room has a refrigerator. You need to request a room with one if you insist. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my stay. The entire staff is so warm and welcoming. I hope you find this review helpful.

This place is amazing. The owners are really nice and work really hard to make you feel at home. The rooms are nice, beds soft but not too soft, bathroom is good sized and modern for the age of the building. There is a large reasonably priced parking area behind the hotel. It is very easy to walk to anything you might need, old town sites, mall, country walking trails, parks for the kids. The food is just wonderful. Most everything seems to be local. They have a wide variety of breakfast items in the German tradition, bread, jam, cold cuts, fruit, yogart, and they will make eggs if you would like. The lunch and dinner items are also very good and reasonably priced.

Wow! This Hotel and it’s staff are a breath of fresh air. The rooms are clean, and super fun. The bathroom is great for 2 people and I would 100% stay again. We paid for the parking out front and it was super easy to get to. I had accidentally booked this room on the wrong day, and they were very helpful and nice about giving me my full refund. Walking distance to everything, if you’re staying in the area I would be sure to check this place out! Thank you!!

We stayed here during the recent Old Town Festival in Ansbach, and enjoyed our stay completely. Our spacious room had a comfortable bed and was well-equipped, including complimentary Nespresso and a free minibar. The WiFi quality was excellent. The hotel and restaurant staff were without exception friendly and helpful. Our meal at the restaurant was tasty and more than ample. We would recommend this to anyone. One note - we were in room 32, the windows open to a narrow interior space. It's very quiet in the room, but not much air comes in - in July or August it might be a bit unpleasant (most of the other rooms have exterior windows).

Although they were busy and admittedly understaffed, they made every effort to insure our stay was good. The service was very attentive and our room was very nice and clean. The location was great. Although we did not eat much at the hotel restaurant, The food looked and smelled delicious. My wife and I would definitely stay here again.

Great stay at a beautifully designed, very well appointed hotel and craftfully prepared local Bio specialities. The host family are running the this gem of a hideaway exceptionally. Each room comes with a different design, color set and story. Kids and four legged friends are welcome and you might get lucky and join the hosts for a hunt in the local woods before enjoying great game dishes. Breakfast is excellent and the adjacent meeting room and beergarden invite to linger. Thanks for the beautiful experience!

Food was pretty good, but took a while to get it. Service was good but could have been a bit faster. The cola was awful, would not recommend. They do not have Coca-Cola, but they need to serve it because whatever cola they have now is disgusting.

Very quaint hotel in cultural center. The owners live on site and it's like you are truly their welcome guests in their home. I highly recommend their restaurant, the menu is filled with taste treats beyond compare. Order the trout which they have swimming in a tank till ordered. Excellent!!!!

Der Schwarzer Bock is an amazing little gem of a hotel located right on the edge of the Old Town district in the shadow of der Kirche St. Gumbertus (St. John's Church Gumbertus). The staff are incredibly friendly, the hotel itself feels and warm and comfortable, and the restaurant is fantastic. I recommend the Hirschwurst mit Kartoffelpüree und Sauerkraut (Venison sausage with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut). If you want to experience true Bavarian hospitality, this is the place to stay.

I stay at this location every time I visit Ansbach, which is a couple times a year, at most. This family-owned hotel is quaint and comfortable. I’ve watched (from a distance) the owner’s children grow up. Such a wonderful family!! I’ll always stay at this hotel.
