It's a nice and historic tourist attraction of Antofagasta. It's mandatory to visit this place if you are around the city

The sheer amount of pigeons ruined this plaza for me. Had to constantly duck and dive from them. There was a good reason why Trafalgar Square in England made it illegal to feed pigeons !!

Even I love it, just rating three stars, you see, Antofagasta is not a "square" city, people doesn't spend much time at the plaza, activities are on the shore mainly, nevertheless it has some English elements, such a small Big Ben and lions such as those in London, in fact, it was a gift from the British people for 100th anniversary of Chile

It's a very pretty place full of historical significance and one of few places where you'll find a bench in the shade to sit and relax for awhile. The downside is that you won't be able to sit for more than a few minutes before a gypsy or panhandler asks you for money.

It is one of the most traditional sights in Antofagasta. You may well find music or fairs all year long. And there is a pretty good coffe spot. The coffe trolley is part of charity coffe for homeless. The water fountain is great for pictures and also statues of renowned people and animals. The site is closed too banks, food stores the Pier, and the shoping Mall. Before you leave take a picture of the central tower Clock, which resembles the Big Ben. BYE

The Centre of Antofagasta with some interesting historical features including an old English style town clock donated by the British Community in Antofagasta and well maintained. It chimes hourly. The Catholic church is also worth a visit. There is also a very good library on the square with free wifi and some English books for non Spanish speakers and readers. Local newspapers are available to read there. You can withdraw books with a passport id.
