I'll try to be as accurate as possible, because some reviews are absolutely ridiculous and, I hope, were written by four-year-old children. So, no, the monkeys are not paid to be present on the island whenever a tourist arrives. So don't expect to see monkeys there all the time. The trash on the island has been there for years, pushed in by the waves and tides. Tourists do not leave 2 square meter pieces of steal on the beach that they brought on the longtail boat. Ridiculous. Overall, there's nothing spectacular to see here, but it's a nice place to unwind at the end of the day. There are a lot of mosquitos on the beach, so be careful!

Children thoroughly enjoyed the trip to monkey bay. You get to see untamed monkeys living in its habitat. They are really active and chase people away if you getting too close to them. It’s better to stay at a safe distance from the monkeys. The thick forest and the huge trees is a testimony of natures greatness

So it's what it says on the tin - there are monkeys on an island. You can feed them and stand closeish for a picture too if you want but I wouldn't get too close otherwise you might get bitten, especially when they have their young with them. It's fairly crowded when the boats come to look at the monkeys but that's what you get when you are on the tours and it's part of it to kinda queue up for your specific photo.

We bought the "7 Islands" tour and "Monkey Island" was on the list among other places. Imagine my surprise when only after our trip finished I learned that we visited not a real monkey island, but "Monkey Bay". The real Monkey Island is way bigger and more beautiful. So, while buying the tour ask where exactly they are going to bring you. On this day the water was unbelievably dirty, but anyway I enjoyed that part of the trip. I recommend you to buy bananas in advance and bring them with you on the boat because as you can see all monkeys from the beach went back to the cliffs to catch the banana from me hahah But please, keep distance!! (As me) If you are going on a trip around Phi Phi and want to see the most popular attractions, then my video with advice and which thing is better to avoid might be helpful for you. You can find it in YouTube by the title: "You better learn THIS before going to Phi Phi Island Tour" Good luck!

Really awesome how you can interact with the monkeys if you have time and the mood for it. Bring water as present not bananas or so. But keep in mind there are approx. 1000 other apes called Homo sapiens like myself.

Trash everywhere and worst of all the monkeys are being bombarded with ship load after ship load of tourists who act like they’ve never seen an animal in their life and only care about their Instagram. Tourists chasing after monkeys with selfie sticks and getting to close to the young ones, then acting surprised and panicked and run over anyone who is their way which is extremely dangerous with the sharp rocks. Just avoid locations with animals in their name in the area they are not worth it e.g. shark point is also a complete dud.

Reality nowadays: The beach is full of trash and crowds of people are shipped there to see the few monkeys. People feed Oreos and other unhealthy sweets to the monkeys leaving the plastic wrapper on the ground. The ankers of the Long-Tail-Boats are often embedded in the reef which causes a destruction. It is more a sad humanity moment then a nice experience.

doTours Monkey Beach is located on the south-western side of Tonsai Bay, about 700 metres from the jetty. It is a stunning 150-metre-long strip of white powdery sand fringed by emerald waters. The beach is set against a backdrop of a steep limestone cliff that’s covered with lush vegetation. The forested cliff is the habitat of monkeys, which is where the beach got its name from. Monkey Beach is often confused with Monkey Bay, a similar spot located on the other side of Phi Phi Don Island, around the entrance of Loh Dalum. Monkey Beach is not only famous for its furry inhabitants. Its also known as a top-notch snorkelling spot.

We came here as part of a wider island hopping tour and we were not disappointed. The speed boat captain got within metres of the cliff face with the monkeys hanging on just observing the world. The captain's were throwing food to them and it was amazing to see them catch it! We got really close and the monkeys didn't seem scared by us. The only thing I didn't like was how close and how many boats there were reversed into the tiny cove trying to get close to them, but me being there on one of these boats was probably part of the problem.

During the phi phi islands tour we went there. It was a high tide time but still we have seen monkeys swimming. We didn't went too close but the view was awesome. Its nice place to see how great nature is. Monky here are pro swimmer and very active. Be aware of your phone or belonging.coz getting close to them might result in loosing your things. So let them enjoy their way and watch them from distence.

No monkey there. I think you should go to monkey beach to see them, not to monkey bay. Went there with the long tail boat, just swam there and the guy said that there is no money at this place.

This beach was part of our half day longtail boat tour. We found quite many monkeys on the beach. However overall this beach is sad… Many tourists, monkeys are playing with trashes. Water is polluted from longtail boats. There are many places in Thailand where you can see free walking monkeys in their nature, not like just a tourist attraction.

If you are not aware you can only visit by boat… but once you arrive you can snorkel in the amazing clear water and also get close to the monkeys. Some people were feeding them and they come right down to you… amazing!!

Monkey Bay provides a fascinating opportunity to observe monkeys in their natural habitat. However, the monkeys appear stressed, possibly due to daily influxes of visitors. The island should reconsider the frequency of tourist visits. It's crucial to highlight the potential for attacks, especially on children – an observation I witnessed firsthand.

Its a nice beach with monkeys (exactly what you’d expect from the name). It was quite busy with tourists. Only accessible via boat.

Not really interesting, and to be honest I didn’t feel very safe while I was there. We saw a tourist being attacked by the monkeys (he sat on the floor, what I know he is not supposed to do, some monkeys came to check him and after just a few seconds they bit the guy 3 times - legs and arm). Not sure it’s worth the trip there, specially with small kids.

Very very small beach with a lot of boats dropping off tourists. If the tide is low you should expect to see some small monkeys but be careful as they will take your water bottles, hats and sometimes phones.

It was a short stop here during the Phi Phi Islands half day tour. Very clear water and white sand. The monkeys are the main act here, with people wanting to feed them and photograph them. Otherwise, there's not much to do or see.

Amazing place. We enjoyed a lot. You can snorkel in clear water and also get close to the monkeys. Some people were feeding them and they come right down to you… amazing!! In low tide, you can walk on beach and see more monkeys.

Sand as white as snow and sea crystal clear! What a beautiful island - very natural and untpuched. The tide was in when we arrived so had to wade through knee deep water to reach the beach. Little monkeys with babies in the trees and on the beach! It was a joy to see them in their natural habitat. Unforgettable.

One of best tourist point, you will enjoy more of scenery n boat ride to monkey bay. As that monkey bay is very small point with couple of monkeys. As you can see small area thats the only bay area where they will drop you to take some pictures but overall views are excellent

A moot point. Pure and simple. Yes there are monkeys, but it’s all for show and feels a little silly. Not worth the hype. These photos were taken in the off season early in the day. So imagine what it must be like in peak season, at peak hours.

This is a tourist point and including in 3 islands tour that I joined. There are very less monkey but many tourists 😅😅 It’s just a small corner and just spend abt 5min to take photos They said the monkey will bite you so you should be careful 👍🏻

Great experience Don’t miss the opportunity to see this bay and the monkeys, I went there twice, first in the afternoon and the place was calm, few tourists. The second time was in the morning and lots of people. Ask for prices in different places to find the tour and price you are comfortable with.

It's a neat little spot that seems to be only accessible by boat. Lots of monkeys in trees, just hold your bag (the monkeys are not shy and may steal it if you don't watch it).

Although I didn't see the bay, I saw the monkeys. They hang from the cliffs karst as waiting for visitors who come to feed them. And sure, they are hanging on branch when come closer, already preparing to receive food. And left with their hands full. It seems that monkey population here is quite a lot until they lack food from the nature and waiting food from visitors who'a come.

My first time to see such clear and blue seas! However, we didn’t see any monkey’s that day. I suppose they must have been scared by lots and lots of tourists. Also, if you’re going by a tour group, the time to spend on this little bay island is like 15 minutes or so.

This place is beautiful but really crowded, try not to feed the monkeys or bring anything with you other than your phone, they’re aggressive and will climb on you in pack, I witnessed someone getting bit by two monkeys at the same time while trying to run away in between the crowds.

This area is quite isolated and you won't get to see many tourist around. You can encounter monkeys throughout the bay. But one should be always alert because sometimes monkey might attack you.

Nice small beach near Koh PhiPhi. Take some carrots or cucumbers with you and the monkey will LOVE YOU 👍🥰🙊 because Tourist normally bring only banana...and they are tired of banana...aware to touch them..they are still wild monkeys and may bit you back also if you are to close to their comfort zone or tease them with food...if the attact you..just run back to the water...they hate salt water👍🥰🙊have fun.Charly IG: renepeter57 from🇨🇭Switzerland
