I recently had to drive a group down from the comox valley to shawnigan lake and drop them off and then pick them up 6 hours later. I knew I needed a coffee and came across a neat convenience store right near the lake , but just didn’t feel like the gas station / convenience store coffee on this day so I googled “best coffee in shawnigan Lake” and got a direct hit with Shawnigan House Coffee and chocolate ! Well!! Let me tell you !!! After sitting down with a caramel latte and starting light chat with a few customers and the staff, I found myself in the exact spot 4 hours later !!! I read an amazing paper, I bought some local art from a local artist that they kindly display and sell for them and I most importantly met the amazing owners and found an incredible energy and something pretty special from one of the new staff and very good friends if the owners! You could not ask for anything more from a local business from a world class guest experience than here! We even had resident Turkeys that came by for a visit !! How cool is that!!! The snacks are great, the coffee is hot and savory, the music is chill , but most importantly the company and hospitality from the staff is dreamy!!! Thank you for an amazing day while I made my first visit to your secret utopia at Shawnigan Lake ! It definitely won’t be my last. See you all very soon!!! PS: they’ll even throw a rugby game on their big screen if you ask them nicely !!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. A+++++++++

A charming and welcoming coffee shop that is a cultural and community gathering place. A sense of passion and pride are felt when you walk in the door. This visit as it is December I had a seasonal egg nog latte that was extremely tasty. I sat along the front window bench that allowed me to enjoy the sunshine and also see all the local art that the cafe is decorated in. So many local items are for sale here too, from tea and locally roasted coffee beans to mugs and art pieces. I will need to return to sample the wide selection of chocolates crafted right there in the coffee shop. It should also be mentioned there is an adjoining bakery to the coffee shop that has amazing choices. I opted for the massive apple strudel which was a good choice to go with my egg nog latte.

Hi there! Just a quick thank you for your kind hospitality over the week we stayed in Shawnigan Lake. We are the Australian family who you kindly made the pumpkin spiced chocolates for. I am pleased to confirm that they all made it to Australia in one piece, and we are looking forward to enjoying one evening. The coffee you served was by far the best coffee we tasted on our 4 week travels across Canada, USA and Fiji - being from Australia we are renowned for being coffee snobs 🙂 but we loved it. Definitely highly recommended for the best coffee and chocolates in the area! Thank you one again and we look forward to returning sometime soon!

Looks like new owners have ruined a great coffee shop, what a shame. Sterile atmosphere matches the new owners demeanour, would you like some rude service with your coffee come on down. They pour the cream and add the sugar for you, because apparently being treated like a child when you go for coffee is how the new owners look at you. I’d give it zero stars if it was an option. The good news is, the way they’re running the place they won’t last long.

What a beautiful little shop with such a cozy and friendly atmosphere. They have decadent gourmet handmade chocolates - including dairy free! My daughter and I have allergies and they went over and above to make her Christmas special with custom chocolates and advent calendar. I also had the dairy free Chai Truffle today and it was the best chocolate I've had in a long time. Thank you guys!

I ordered a smoothie that was said to be in a 16oz cup....I added protein and a banana.... it came in a Not 16oz cup and the total came to 20.06$ I looked up at the price board in shock to see the Bananas at 1.75$ each and the small scoop of protein at 2.60$..... but what really blew me away was the 12$ for the actual smoothie which I could barely taste real chunks of fruit in and the chocolate was only syrup they squirted in.... then with a smile it was handed to me to enjoy.... how can you charge so much for a drink not made with much of anything but liquid and the banana I could barely taste.... was very disappointed and the drink was very very average compared to others.... even booster juice comes in a huge cup compared with all the same things and more, for much less. Would not recommend this place.

Our weekly coffee group wouldn’t go anywhere else. All coffee selections are wonderful and the staff always take the time to make sure you are welcome. Normally don’t have anything other than coffee, but have taken chocolates home as a treat. Just a great cozy place to gather.

We absolutely loved this coffee shop! Lisa was sooo friendly and kind and made us really feel welcomed. The drinks were terrific, just the way we like them, and the food (those fudge bars!!) was amazing. We went out of our way to get treats at the end of our holiday because we needed one more taste!

I love Shawnigan Coffee House for its delicious beverages and snacks, as well as its cozy atmosphere and friendly service! My new favorite drink would have to be their play on a London Fog- the Shawnigan Smog, a house blend of delicious spices makes the perfect warm drink!

Very cute spot to stop in at! Absolutely the BEST “fog” I’ve ever tasted. They call it a “Shawnigan Fog,” a local take on a London Fog, and it was literally the best one I’ve ever had. You really should stop in and try it if you get the chance. And get one of their chocolate covered Nanaimo bars or a hedgehog. Very yummy!

Great place for to grab a good coffee and sit back and relax for a while. The owners are super friendly and great for a chat if you would like. Oh and the chocolates are extra yummy with flavours outside the norm. Thoroughly recommend a visit.

Good coffee! I had the medium drip JavaLava. The staff.was very courteous and friendly. They have wifi and they are happy to give you water if you are coming from a ride/hike.

Visited them last weekend. Very welcoming owners. I bought some chocolates and ordered a Mocha. Chocolates were high quality. The Pumpkin Spice chocolate and the Sea Salt Chocolate were awesome. The coffee was superb. One of the best coffees that I have tried. The ambiance and the environment needs some improvements. I would recommend trying their coffee and few chocolates.

Lovely quaint coffee shop with local art works, confectioneries, simple lunch, and more. Indoor seats with tables are cozy. Worth noting is the modern art displays are fascinating, telling stories and highlighting histories. Lovely hot chocolate <3 The menu has gone digital being displayed on wall hanging screens, flipping on sections every couple of seconds. This definitely saves the space and work to tidy up, yet I find the technology not exactly matching the vibration of the coffee shop or town.

I was in the area for the day and walked over to the shop to get a drink. The door was locked but the owner came and opened the door after just closing and greeted me, took my order anyway and invited me in. Very friendly and interested in how I had spent my day. I had been offered a sample of the drink - to taste - but a lot of conversation happened and was forgotten about. The Chai Late was delicious and sweet. Loved the flavor of their home made chai mix.
