Great historical place. Only 10 euros for adult admission, which came with an audio explanation for 12 locations. Each audio location was only about 3 minutes, so it was exact, concise, not overwhelming. It took about an hour to see it all. We thoroughly enjoyed learning about the history of the Olympics, past and present.

A beautiful stadium with a rich history and pretty stunning views. To really enjoy it make sure to rent the audio guide and it will make your experience much, much more worthwhile. The entry fee and audio guide come at an affordable price tag. I recommend it.

There is no toilet inside so better spend 1€ to use the toilet right next to the ticket office outside. It is worth a visit but all the exhibitions about Olympics games are displayed in a loveless way, it is quite a pity.

Astonishing and wonderful place! This is truly a raw and rugged landmark of ancient times and worth an engaged visit. It boasts incredibly panoramic views of the entire stadium and the history of it is very palpable. To stand where the Olympics of countless years past were held, is truly both thrilling and wondrous. The stadium is great for pictures as well, and you get bountiful views of other classical Athens landmarks on all sides of your view. Truly recommended to visit and enjoy! This is beautiful Greece and Athens at its wonderful best!

The location of the Olympics birth. a stadium that is truly made of marble. the Magnificent place that gives people hope; it provides a platform for the athlete to shine in the particular sport every 4 years. interestingly, you can see the Olympic logos on only one side but not the other side. I would highly recommend obtaining the audio guide otherwise it is just a stadium that has no meaning without knowing the story behind it. The entry fee now is 10 euros per person well back then that used to be 5 before the pandemic. If you want to save up the money for entering it seems like you can climb over on the side on the top where people jog around by the mountain.

Loved the experience! General Admission ticket is €10. Reduced Admission ticket for students €5. Show your student ID. The telephone tour guide is pretty cool too, you listen as you walk around. Definitely a place to visit. There's a lot of history. Taking drinks in there aren't allowed (and food i believe), just water is allowed.

Lovely experience. Getting to see history always an amazing adventure. Greece has many site to see. This being the world's only white marvel stadium makes it that much better. You won't believe it till you see it. It's 10 euro to get in and worth it

Oh my, what an atmosphere, what a place. Audio guide device is included and I recommend you take one and follow the narrator, such history is revealed and fascinating facts about the place that you would otherwise overlook. There are no 'off-limits' areas and you can sit in one of two pairs of royal thrones as you please. Be warned all that polished marble makes for heat in a sunny day so take it easy and hydrate. It's quite a sight and you can't help but imagine the great spectacle of the early Olympians competing there. Cheap entry and no time limit, there is a small Olympic museum up the atmospheric gladiator entrance tunnel carved through rock and marble, worth a visit, I'll leave the audio guide to tell you about the naked dancing maidens 😉

Tickets are €10, and is not included in the combo pass nor is it part of any attractions packages. If fact, unless you really want to walk around in the stadium and pose for photos in the podiums, you can really just take photos from outside. Its a really grand and nice stadium, so definitely worth paying it a visit if you are near. It is located very close to the Temple of Olympian Zeus.

Awesome place, with so much history about the Olympic games. It is incredible how this stadium could sit more than 60 thousand people. Right now it is restored and it looks pretty similar to the original one with a few exceptions. There is also a museum which is included in the ticket, which you need to be careful not to miss because it's a bit hidden. In there you will find even more history and most of the Olympic torches from over the years. Overall, definitely a must visit.

Save yourself the ticket money take pictures from outside. It's one of the few attractions that you cannot purchase online tickets and there are also no combo tickets. The only difference between outside and inside is you can get to to top of the steps. If you don't mind paying 10 euros just to do that then by all means buy the ticket!

Amazing historic place where the first modern Olympics were held... Walkable distance from city centre and Plaka region... Discount entry tickets for students... Great view... There is a separate museum of Olympic artifacts inside... A small souvenir shop outside the entry gate has nice collection of some good souvenirs... One can also see a beautiful view of Acropolis from the top seats of this stadium.. Overall, it was a great experience for me to visit this place.....

I have no words to express this fantastic monument. I am grateful that I got a chance to walk and see the place where the first Olympics took place. This stadium is more than 2300 years old but looks newly constructed as it is fully built with marble that never ages. There is a 10 euros fee per person to get in, but it is nothing compared to what you get out of it. They give you an audio guide when you submit your ID card temporarily.

Very nice visit thanks to the audio-guides (available in different languages) who explains you more about this amazing place. As a sport fan it was a must do visit and it was lovely, you also have a little shop inside and a little "museum" with some posters and torches of the past Olympics. I would also recommend to go to the top of the stadium to have an amazing view of the Acropolis and the city of Athens. Only negative point was that we couldn't go on the track because they are preparing an event..

I can't believe that I could stand on The Stadium of The first modern Olympic Games! The Stadium was built in 1896 but It's still a very strong and hard place! Very clean and keeps it so well. Visitors can climb to the top of the floor and real-see the Olympic logo within one foot! The little Stadium museum inside the playground where you can find many Olympic torches together!

The birth of the Olympic games. It's enormous and has so many things to see. The marble seats, the thrones for the king and queen of that time. They will provide free audiobooks that comes with the entry ticket which is translated in many languages. It will take an hour to see the whole thing. There's also a room inside where the torches and posters of previous Olympic games are held. It's a must visit. You will also learn about the history of how it came to be and how the games were held at that time. It's an architectural marvel.

This was worth the 10 euro per ticket admission price. This includes the audio guide, the small handheld device, which I think is essential. There are 12 stops on the audio guide in total, and all of them were fascinating. The venue itself is spectacular, and for me one of the highlights of my entire trip to Athens. Make sure to walk up and down the steps, get a complete view of the stadium, and head into and up the cave and stairs to view the Olympic torches and posters. The BEST view is from section 21-24 at the very top row, which gives you a beautiful view of the Parthenon and temples, as well as the National Gardens. It takes about 60 minutes if you take your time and soak in the atmosphere, although if you were in a rush you could do it in 30 minutes.

Being abit of a sports buff, it was definitely worth visiting the stadium from 1896. In the winter period alot of the souvenir stalls were shut though. You had free range to climb to the top and walk around with a view. You can also walk through a tunnel that leads to all the Olympic torches and posters

It’s nice to see (at a distance) and its huge, but considering you're permitted to walk all over the Ancient Agora of Athens, it’s a shame they won’t let anyone in to sit and be amazed by this marble arena - after all its simply marble rock, easy to clean and easy to police as its wide open (if you keep visitors off the track.) Sad i never got to climb up and imagine what it would have been like on a sports day. Would I recommend? You'll see as much driving past on a bus. Would I go back. Only if I could go inside.

Really interesting piece of a more modern Greek history. Great for photo opportunities and the audio guide is very informative. Only negative for me was the lack of toilets. There are none inside the stadium and the ones outside cost 1€ each.

The of the most famous world wide olympic stadium! It holds Guinness world record for gathering about 80.000 of sports fans! There is not too much to say about it! Since I'm guessing almost all of you heard of it, time to time. :) highly recommend! If you visit Athens definitely drop by.

Admission to the stadium tour includes an audio tour that is great! There is a tunnel that goes into the stadium where there is a small museum showing some memorabilia from all of the Modern Olympics. A must for all sports and history enthusiasts.

Interesting piece of history and a good place to people watch. It wasn’t on our list of “must-see” attractions, but it’s really close to our hotel and was worth it at only €5 per ticket. Very breezy and surprisingly comfortable marble seats at the top, also allows for good views of the Acropolis. Small tunnel leading to an Olympics museum on one side, all-in-all a pretty neat stop.

This is my favourite tourist destination in Athens. Not too many visitors but has a lot of recent history. If you're into the Olympics this is the pinnacle of all. You cannot tell just by taking photos of it but if you research the story behind this monument you will find some awesome jaw dropping things. Pay the ticket, take the tour, enjoy this marvelous facility still in use

This looks like an ancient place, but was actually built for the first Olympic games in modern times in 1896. The actual view and feel of the place can't really be captured in photos. Very impressive, indeed. The small museum with its collection of Olympic torches and posters is also well worth a visit. Or have you ever seen one of the torches carrying the Olympic flame up close? ;-)

Well worth the €10 entrance fee. We spent around 1.5 hours here, take your time and enjoy the audio guide which is included in the entrance fee. The audio guide itself is very clear and informative without being boring, definitely recommend picking one up from the desk or downloading the app! Cool exhibition showcasing the posters from all Olympic Games. Climb to the top of the stand around section 21 for a great view of stadium and Acropolis in the distance!

Interesting place with rich history! Though it wasn’t the highlight of my day i still enjoyed my visit! I would recommend climbing up on the right side when you enter to peek over the edge to get this nice view of the Acropolis! (last photo in this review) There is also a small museum that you should visit! There is probably some shade and you can buy drinks and ice cream at the entrance.

Really interesting history of the venue and its connection to the Olympics and the history of sport. Some school groups were doing sporting activities while I was there, keeping the legacy alive! The audio tour - which seems to be a rarity for major historical sites in Athens - was just the right length. There’s an unadvertised one-room Olympic museum at the end of the tunnel near the back, which was a nice surprise but also might be easy to miss as there’s no real clue given that it’s there! Do climb to the top of the stadium for the eagle-eye view, but be aware one part of the steps is extremely steep with nothing to hold onto.

Huge history and very interesting fact that it's still using for Rome Marathon!! Awesome. So if you want to try to run on this stadium, you can do it ( I paid about 5 euro for this opportunity)

If you're a runner, this is worth a pilgrimage. Take the audio tour. Walk up to the end of the tunnel, climb the stairs in the museum, see the collection of Olympic torches, walk up the steep stairs of the stadium, run a lap on the track itself, stand on the podium. You will never forget it. (And if for some reason somebody plays the "Chariots of Fire" theme on an endless loop while you're running, you have to run in slow motion. I think it's a law or something.)

This is an interesting historical site of the first Olympic stadium. Although it is impressive, being built completely in marble, considering that it is built so long ago. There really isn't much to see here, aside for an empty track and field with marble bleachers all around it.

Incredible stadium that’s older than dirt. That’s gotta be why it’s entirely made of marble, right? All jokes aside, we first saw this stadium on top of the mountain nearby and our tour guide explained to us that this is where the Olympic marathon ends and how cool it is to see that. I think he said this is on the way for the Olympic torch path as well as it departs Olympia. Regardless, it’s an iconic stadium that hosts large events including a fundraiser for victims of the recent wildfires. In the back you can see the Olympic rings and I believe this is where the opening and closing ceremonies were held. We weren’t there long but it was awesome to visit!

We visited on a Sunday and it was not busy at all! We downloaded the app to listen to the walkthrough and it was worth to. So much history and such a beautiful place to be. If you’re a runner or someone who loves the Olympics, this place will be important to you. The history is palpable and the views from the top of the stadium are immaculate!! An incredible sight. It ignites the imagination. No matter where you stand it has a great view. It was built in the 4th Century BC and it has hosted many Olympic games ever since. There is a little museum here that displays nearly all the Olympic torches and a tiny little gift shop inside. This place inspires you to become an athlete. I definitely recommend a visit here.

The stadium is breathtaking. Loved it. It is very different from modern stadiums so you get a different feeling. I highly recommend visiting and running a lap. I don't have a word for it, but there is a great impact from its design. It closes at 5:30. Audios have to be returned at 5pm. There are some stray cats as well...very cute little ones. If you can bring something for the lil kitties.

One of my favorite tourist attractions in Athens. Like many ancient (or semi-antique) monuments in Athens, this one can also be seen almost entirely from the outside, from behind the fence. But there's a cool, sporty vibe inside - you can run a lap in the stadium, take a photo on the podium, sit in the audience in the seat of important people ;) and visit a small museum. Impressive structure with an air of classical antiquity, one of the must-see places in the Athens city centre

  • 5/5 Shelby D. 2 years ago on Google
Very beautiful. Very easy entrance. 5 euros and then you can go in the stadium, climb about and walk on the track.

Wonderful experience and a must-visit spot in Athens! Defeintely worth paying a small entrance fee ticket (5.0 or 2.5 euro) and going inside! Also, grab an audioguide - it is really interesting! If you go inside, visit the top side of stadium and you will be able to snap some awesome pictures!

  • 4/5 Carole A. 2 years ago on Google
It was good to see the stadium, although we only looked from the outside and didn't pay the entrance fee (approximately €7) for a closer look. If you look carefully, you get a view back to the parthenon in the distance.

This wasn’t at the top of my “must do” in Athens but I’m glad I visited. Unfortunately there was an concert happening later that evening so they were setting up sound systems so we weren’t allowed to enter the track. Also the exit was closed due to the event and we didn’t know until we walked all the way around

  • 5/5 Amy S. 2 years ago on Google
Amazing attraction. What a fantastic piece of history we absolutely loved playing on the track, podiums and walking through the stands. The additional museum with all the Olympic torches is really enjoyable and interesting. Bargain for €5!!

  • 5/5 Shimurasaki 2 years ago on Google
Magnificent, trully. One of my favourite places in Athens, well worth the 5 💶 ticket. There is side building where you can see the Olympics torches from the past games. Magical!

  • 5/5 Kristina K. 2 years ago on Google
This was as cool as any picture could ever make it look. I ran a quick lap around the stadium and it was totally worth it. audio guide comes with the price of admission and worth following along with.

The most iconic and ancient stadium of Athens. Greece’s history in a stadium. If you pay a visit and a concert or an event is being held there, don’t hesitate to go for it. Otherwise, just wandering around it and inside it will definitely surprise you!

Interesting historical Olympic stadium. Can be reached by local bus. Stairs are steep but worth it to go all the way up

  • 5/5 Hannes W. 2 years ago on Google
Great site with a good tour guide and breathtaking views over the city. It's really a must see. Don't miss out on the little museum part, too!

  • 5/5 Deepthi R. 2 years ago on Google
Place where the first modern olympics was held!! This place has a different vibe. You will get an audio guide (available in many languages) which is included in your entry ticket. This audio guide takes you to the historic events and explains each corner and important places of the stadium!!

You need good knees to climb. Great expanse of space. I suggest twilight or closing time - the lighting looks very nice.

It’s really a must visit in Athens. Don’t miss it, I got a special discount as I was an Erasmus student. I was there the begging of July and there were not many people, maybe because of the time. I didn’t do any queues, the people at ticket office and the guards were friendly and kind . Inside there’s also an interesting museum, I recommend a visit .

Great experience to see this stadium. All marble, grab an audio to listen to the history and facts. The tunnel is cool, and the torch displays are great to see. €10 for the tickets, take some pictures, walk or run around it and feel the grandeur of the stadium. It does get hot and there isn't any shade. Bring some water and walk towards the tunnel to cool off. Enjoy.

Absolutely awesome. Can’t recommend more for the sport/Olympics nut. Home of the modern Olympics in a stadium over 2000 years old, Super impressive. Loved the ability to walk/run a lap and is open to runners from 7:30-9 if you just want to run the track. Highly recommend the audioguide which comes free with the €10 entry. If you opt out of this please go to the top of aisle 21 for an awesome photo of the city.

This is a beautiful stadium with a rich history and pretty stunning views, but to really enjoy it make sure to rent the audio guide and it will make your experience much, much more worthwhile. The entry fee and audio guide come at an affordable price tag. I recommend it

Fantastic piece of history. Get an audio guide as part of the €10.00 entry fee. We ran around and took photos. It was a great monument to some awesome athletes.

A must visit site. So much history of the first Olympics site. Facilities are very well maintained and friendly staff. Yes, you can get some good photos without we entering, but you don't get the full experience without entering. Worth the entrance fee.

  • 5/5 Carlos U. 1 year ago on Google
An amazing site to see. One of my favourite sites in Athens, reasonable price to get into good information on the headsets regarding the history of the place and the ability to run around the track and stand on the podium just added to the experience. You could feel the history as you walk around the place.

  • 5/5 Kwame O. 11 months ago on Google
Contrarily to others' reviews, I don't find that monument so far away from the center, especially since a park connects it to Syntagma station which is the core of the city. Now talking about the stadium, it's a must. I visited it and paid the entrance fee on the recommendation of a friend, and I wasn't disappointed. The place is truly magnificent, humbling, and it carries a heavy history behind it. The work that was put in the small museum as well is impressive, and having the chance to witness all the previous torches and paintings from previous Olympic Games is very, very touching. I recommend visiting this place a thousand times even if you're not a sport addict

A fantastic piece of Greek history. The queue to get tickets was slightly long so I recommend pre booking if you are able too. They offered free audio guides for visitors which meant the information on offer was vast.

  • 5/5 Travel A. 9 months ago on Google
Massive. The steps were tiring, but making it to the top was very satisfying. A unique experience; we climbed to the top then walked full circle from start to end of the stadium. We went in the middle of the day so it was hot. Price was okay, and the place wasn’t crowded.

  • 5/5 Katie B. 10 months ago on Google
Really interesting, and I was a bit surprised with how much I enjoyed it due to the great free audio guide. Interesting history and kept in beautiful, clean condition. We went at about 5.30pm to avoid the heat and this was good. No queue at this time, for tickets or audio guide, and less than 30 people around (June 2023). Reduced admission with showing student card, even international. We spent about 40 minutes there, which is enough time with the audio guide and still seeing the hall with previous olympic torches.

You can get reduced entry fee if you're a student or above 65. Really worth visiting the place. Go to the top of the gallery and enjoy the view, especially during the sunset.

Always a pleasure to visit. One of the most beautiful & unique ancient sites in Athens. Beautiful, clean and Maintained very well. Also, has nice view to the acropolis. Don't miss a visit inside the stadium while in the area.

  • 5/5 Juan F. 9 months ago on Google
The entrance fee is €10, but if you are a student or senior, you can get it for €5. I went around 6:20 pm to avoid the heat, and I was surprised that it wasn't crowded. They offered an audio self-guided tour. It's definitely worth a visit.

  • 5/5 Sarah R. 9 months ago on Google
Wonderful experience. Of particular interest to athletes, but also those generally interested in history, you are allowed onto the actual track and out the back. There is a refreshment stand out the front, note that only water is allowed to be brought inside.

  • 5/5 Miam C. 8 months ago on Google
We paid our 10€ each to go in, thinking it was just the stadium you tour around. Just to walk around the track used in the first modern Olympic Games. That was worthy of the fee. To walk up and down the steps and sit in the marble seats… but then we walked around the back corner and on the other side was an opening up a very cool, temperature, corridor. We we got to the top we were inside a building which told the story of the Modern Olympic Games. A room held Olympic torches and posters for so many of the modern Olympic Games. We walked around looking at all of these posters and torches to see the changes through time. Highly recommend paying the Euro to walk around history. You are allowed to walk all around the stadium, to stand on the trophy awards podiums. Our taxi driver told us the stadium was built with amazing acoustics. We’re you could be in the furthest seat and hear the announcer on the ground. We didn’t try this out as there we many people inside, August is peak tourist season. Maybe you can give it a shout. Everyone enjoyed this self guided tour of our modern Olympic Games and where it all began.

Amazing stadium! We watched a professional tennis meet while being at the stadium and it was incredible. Very hot of course because it’s Greece and there is no shade but it was so cool to be at this iconic stadium.

The Panathenaic Stadium is an absolute treasure in the heart of Athens, Greece, and my visit was nothing short of amazing. This historical stadium is a must-see for anyone interested in the Olympic Games and ancient Greek history. Using Google Maps to find my way here was a breeze. The app provided clear and accurate directions, making it easy to navigate the city's streets. I also appreciated the option to explore the surrounding area through Street View, which helped me get a sense of the stadium's grandeur before arriving. Once inside, I was impressed by the stadium's well-preserved structure and the informative plaques that detailed its history. Google Maps provided additional information about the stadium, enriching my visit. Reading reviews and looking at photos from other visitors on Google Maps gave me valuable insights and tips for my trip. In summary, the Panathenaic Stadium is a historical gem, and Google Maps is an invaluable tool for making the most of your visit. I highly recommend both to anyone exploring Athens.

This is a beautiful place with gorgeous views. Unfortunately, you can not enter the theater. We were hoping to see a light and sound show on this theater. But there was no show available. Still, the views from the top are amazing and worth a visit. Luckily, we did not encounter big crowds and enjoyed our visit.

I'm a big runner and this was an amazing piece of history. Highly recommend listening to the audio tour (included in price) which was very well done. The mini Olympic torch museum was an unexpected pleasure. There is also an opportunity to do a morning run session there! I read about it but didn't take advantage unfortunately.

A great architectural sight to see both during the day and at sundown. The only downside is no access to toilets unless you have 1 euro coins with you and no headphones for the guided tour so make sure you bring some with you.

Beautiful stadium. The first one to hold modern olympics. Ticket is 10€ and can be brought from the counter. The park nearby is worth a visit as well.

Would suggest to visit if you are in Athens. Gives a surreal feeling. Would be amazing if you could go with few others, so that you can have your own race and may be presentation on the podium. Tip - The prices at the museum shop inside was slightly higher than the one you get outside the entrance. For instance, Athens marathon collectors medal was 45 Euros inside but 30 outside.

  • 5/5 Torsten V. 7 months ago on Google
Absolutely amazing sight and worth visiting. It’s also absolutely worth the 10 euros entry fee. We were amazed that this place was way less crowded yet almost as impressive as the Acropolis.

This another must place visit in Athens. You can’t buy tickets on line as far as I checked but even going on a Sunday morning it wasn’t that busy at all and we managed to buy our tickets and get inside in less than 5 min. Make sure to visit the stadium museum through a tunnel entrance in the center on the stadium and they have all the torches from past Olympics on display.
