Taste of Damascus is an eco-friendly restaurant serving healthy vegetarian Middle Eastern cuisine and offering training and job opportunities to asylum-seekers and refugees. After completing the restaurant training course, students are invited to apply to work at Taste of Damascus. There they receive support to complete the paperwork that is required to hire them. This incentive is created by Za’atar NGO non-profit organization dedicated to helping refugees in Greece. The food at the Taste of Damascus was so delicious, everything we tried was made fresh and beautifully presented. We ordered falafel plate paired with mezzés (hummus, moutabal/aubergine dip, muhammara/spicy dip). We also ordered fatteh. Fatteh is a dish made with crispy bread topped with chickpeas, tahini, yoghurt, lemon and cumin, it is served warm. The restaurant service was excellent and the atmosphere was relaxed and cosy. Highly recommend.

Oh my goodness... I never leave reviews and certainly not in the middle of eating but YOU NEED TO COME AND EAT HERE!!! Best hummus I've ever had, best falafel hot out of the fryer, in a gorgeous park with a kind and attentive server. This place is amazing! The muhammara is certainly not for the faint of heart tho, wimps like me be warned and fans of spicy food rejoice! 😆

A very quaint and peaceful place with a great vibe! It is the best falafel of Kipseli as far as I am concerned! The taboulé though is the best in Athens!!! (Also, this place is the best food option in the area!!!)

Falafel was so tasty, the service was great and the atmosphere was exceptional. I would recommend Tastes of Damascus to anyone looking for food in the Kipseli neighbourhood in Athens or anyone who enjoys excellent Syrian cuisine.

Really lovely restaurant with good dining experience. The staff are lovely and they give a free bottle of water which was great on a hot day. We ordered falafel and it's milder on the spice compared to others, you can really taste the chickpea. The pickles were also amazing! Dessert is delicious the white one like a jelly and the brown one a thick syrup style so very sweet. Would definitely recommend.

Unassuming on the outside, this tiny corner holds some really nice surprises for a quick stopover to enjoy quite tasty food, simple, clean, and with a good range of platters!🙂 Above all, it is respectful of the client, with swift service.

Falafe lovers, this place is your paradise! They had delicious salads, entrés, and desserts. I really liked their yogurt tahini sauce that was served with the falafels and the knefe was da bomb! Nice area, great service, overall recommend

This is the most disgusting food ever. It is not even a food. It basically was just spicy sauce (who knows what it is made of). They tried to do something but but I guess they have never tried the food themselves. It burned my stomach so much that I had to take some pills even though I only ate just one bite of it. They asked me over the order of I want it spicy or not! I told them spicy but this is not the meaning of it. This was spicy soup in few called so falafel. I urgently call this people to watch some real Middle East falafel recipe and re - do it.

Wow delicious! Their house Shamsy Salad was one of the best salads I’ve ever eaten in my life! So fresh and flavorful! And the falafel sandwich was huge for the price. Excellent value and very nice staff!

Best falafel tried so far in Athens. Authentic flavor, fresh ingredients. Lemonade is delicious and refreshing. Staff is kind and friendly. I really enjoyed the minimal use of plastic as well in the takeaway packages.

We tried most of the dishes and were disappointed. Something essential was missing from the food.. everything felt bland and tasteless. I am really puzzled by all the good reviews, maybe something went wrong just the day we visited? On the upside, presentation was very nice and everything seemed to be freshly prepared.

Great falafel in a VERY good price (€2.50 for a whole tortilla!), good lactose-free dessert options. The menu is short but every dish on it is fresh and very tasty.

👍 A place where locals eat. Not a tourist spot. Food is spicy and full of flavor. Beware the spicy sojouk is actually the hottest food we tried in Greece.
