This is a review of Grant Park, not the zoo. The park has many walking, jogging and biking trails. There are many mature trees that provide lots of shade. There were lots of people walking their dogs in the park, 25-30 by my count, and only one dog was off leash. Most of the dog owners were picking up their dog's poo. The park is full of very nice facilities: swimming pool, tennis courts, half and full basketball courts, soccer field, baseball field, picnic tables, pavilions, play grounds and, near the zoo entrance, men's and women's bathrooms. I entered a small, free, parking lot off of Park street and Sydney streets. There is a large, paid parking lot off of Cherokee street and a multilevel paid parking structure off of Boulevard st.

I am so grateful for Grant Park. Each and every year I attend House in the Park every Labor Day weekend. I made new wonderful friends & made sure to take all of my trash away with me because its such a beautiful park. The park is most secure. One day I plan to become a volunteer. Thank you Grant Park 2023 !

Really nice park but not very accessible with public transit. We took Marta as close as we could and still had to Uber. Walking dead filming sites around and then the zoo is super fun.

This is a beautiful park. It's very clean and well kept. Definitely a jewel in the city and a great place for kids, events, and fur babies.

This is a nice large park in East Atlanta. Great for old school group, family and school outdoor gatherings and bbq’s. The Atlanta Zoo is attached to this park and you can see elephants from the area near the modern looking Parking deck side.

This Park is very peaceful and quiet. We had a great time there and meet so many fur friends along the way to the playground. It's definitely a good place to bring your children to play. The atmosphere was good. Nice place to exercise 😜 too. Especially because it's most definitely a hike back and forth from the playground to the parking lot.

Lions, tigers and sun bears, oh my! The zoo does not disappoint. Me and the grandkids had a ball. The train ride and the carousel were tops for me. We visited every bit of the zoo and made a day of it. I packed healthy snacks and water, you will need it. The food lines are quite long, but they have good options. Get a membership so that you don't have to squeeze everything in one day and you can enjoy it for a whole year. You will also get a discount in the gift shop. Of course I bought the kids a gift. Cool stuff is in the shop. There really is something for everyone and there are some reasonably priced items, $13.00. It was a great day and the kids slept on the way back.

A place where you can definitely go and take your family or walk your dog. This Park has a plethora of trails to walk on or grass to jargon playing. You really can't go wrong here. Most of the commuters are generally friendly and just trying to get some great vitamin d and exercise.

I've been to many zoo's in my life and I can honestly say this is the BEST one I've been to. Admission price is a bit on the expensive side, but I enjoyed myself. The animals outside are so close. The variety of frogs, snakes and birds were beautiful and very educational.

Awesome awesome, great place for the whole family. Wheelchair accessible, parents can easily take their strollers for the kids or rent them, as well as the wheelchairs. (Motorized chairs/scooters as well) If kids get hot, they also have a mini Waterpark so they can refresh, so bring extra clothing or bathing suit as well.

We visited Zoo Atlanta for the Chinese Lantern event. The exhibts were life like and absolutely beautiful! The tour is self paced and took approximately 1 1/2 hours. I highly recommend it for the family. There is even a carosel 🎠 for the kids.

Conveniently located in the middle of Atlanta, large, spacious with plenty of stores, bars and businesses in the neat vicinity. The Atlanta Zoo is also located at the park. Great place for the family and a plethora of fun activities available... Worth the Trip!!!👌🏾👍🏾💯

A lovely walk through the zoo with a huge display of Chinese Lanterns. We also saw two Pandas. The park seemed very safe. Visit the animals by day or the lanterns by night.

Grant Park as a general location is the best area of Atlanta hands down. I love it here. The park itself is fine, it's under construction at the moment but I'm sure it's going to be amazing when it's finished. The zoo, the food.. everything here is awesome.

Grant Park is a beautiful urban park that offers a serene escape from the bustling city. Its lush green spaces, scenic trails, and iconic landmarks like the Grant Park Zoo make it a delightful destination for nature lovers. A perfect spot for picnics, leisurely walks, and enjoying the outdoors.

A great place to walk. There's alot of shade if you want to avoid the sun but plenty of sunny spots to sit in the grass. Numerous picnic areas.

Was roped into going the night after Thanksgiving during the Zoo's Illumination Festival. Big disappointment. My expectation when I go to the zoo is to see animals (the last zoo in the states where they have live pandas). I posted a picture of the only panda I saw. You can decide if this would be worth it to you.

Visiting from Cali... Grant Park is about 8 minutes away from the Air BNB I'm in. Great, quiet park, with a Zoo next door. A local who was in New York last week said it's like having Central Park to yourself.

Ran 3 miles in this park. Crazy hilly park and with a 90°+ weather it sure can give you a nice workout.

I paid for the pavilion space #2 in the park. We hosted a Team Building event here. Plenty of space and perfectly shaded. We had about 25 people with plenty of space to spare. They had about 12 picnic tables made from some sort of resin plastic. Very heavy and difficult to move. Would not recommend moving these tables, especially on your own. Thankfully the parking deck is right next to the pavilion. There is a slight hill you have to.go.doen to get to the pavilion and if you need to go to your car, a slight hill up. Technically it is wheelchair assessable but like I mentioned it is on a hill so I would not recommend someone who is using a wheelchair to navigate own their own. The bathrooms are also located up a slight hill a few hundred feet away. Overall, it was a great event. We may book again.

The Savanah room was George ours and getting to see some of the animals was icing on the cake. Along with the fact that we were able to hear Andrew Zimmerman, who is very entertaining and inspiring. Perfect day.

$3 per hour parking, but not bad overall. I love the community and the Victorian style homes in the area.

One of the best parks I have been to in GA. Zoo ATL on the South end, great park w/pond, pavilions, gazebo, walking paths, playground, recreational facilities etc on the North end. Great park for chillaxing, playing tennis, basketball, baseball, soccer, swimming (pool), enjoying parties or eloping for a quiet/quick wedding on a quaint bridge under the lushes, shady trees. It's a bit disappointing to see the area around the recreational center building with an embarrassing amount of trash, debris & broken glass. I didn't go to the zoo this time.

As a transplant from the Pacific Northwest, I have been drawn to seek out and explore many of Atlanta‘s green spaces. It’s my nature I suppose. And among Atlanta's more notable choices, Grant Park may well be my favorite owing to its dense flora and more serene suburban setting. Granted, its proximity to Boulevard Drive, and role as home to the Atlanta Zoo, can disrupt its serenity. But the midpoint and northern edges near the playfields usually offer a quiet respite that’s off the beaten path. I do wish Grant Park were larger, but there are plenty of places to find quiet, enjoy the surroundings, and spend time on your own or with friends and family.

Great family oriented park. Not as busy nor congested as Piedmont Park. I aspire to one day have a house around this park. It is so nice and tranquil. If you ever go, don’t forget to hit up the zoo as well!

I've been coming here since 1964. I was born that year and don't remember anything until years later but my mom brought us here all the time. I remember the zoo from when I was younger and I remember the park very well from probably 5 on up...we lived off Cogar Drive in Decatur and we were here often. It is nice to see trees and flora that are older than yourself, and know that they have older and also fond memories of the park. I hope this park lasts far beyond my life and memories, and far beyond the memories of my children, and their children. We have one last place to plant our feet as humans, and places of solace, imagination, spiritual cleansing and nourishment like this should be left to thrive and survive... and we as stewards of such splendor, should be benign human beings, not malignant human doings.

For my last day in the deep south before going back to the south-west from Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson via Seattle, my amazing wife and I decided to do nearly 2 miles worth of walk round this beautiful park. I can see why many Atlantans are so in love with this open space, because it is absolutely VAST! It helped to calm my nerves before the flight, I felt really good, the weather was a balmy 61° and it was so beautiful. Thank you Georgia & Atlanta for your slice of southern hospitality and warmth. It was also amazing that from Level 4 of the parking lot, you get a bird's-eye view of the elephant enclosure at Zoo Atlanta for absolutely no cost.

  • 5/5 Ami M. 3 years ago on Google
We came here today to get some fresh air and kill some time before our flight. I was able to walk for 2 miles and enjoy the park. There were not many people there and it is paved if you are a runner and prefer pavement or pushing a stroller. We do not have kids, but there are plenty of play areas to keep little ones occupied. We were unsure of where to park, so we just parked in the parking garage for the zoo. Make sure you take your ticket like at the airport so you can pay at the machine before you leave. The absolute BEST part of the park is if you go up the steps to the top of the parking garage, you can see the elephant 🐘 in the zoo if she is strolling about her enclosure. That was a pleasant surprise and nice to see the caregivers feeding her and interacting with her. She looked super happy and was eager to interact. This is a great option for some fresh air and to get some steps in. We had an awesome time.

This Park is beautiful. Its very close to the Atlanta Zoo. Like next door to the park. We were soo turned around just trying to locate the entrance bc the zoos parking lot was more convenient. You can park on the street as well. I think. There was lots of cars parked on the street. We setup and drew for a proposal. It was the perfect location.
