First of all, this restaurant is in a beautiful spot surrounded by quaint shops, and the atmosphere is fantastic. The three stars are for some of the best wait staff I've been helped by, great appetizers (and some of the best French onion soup I've ever had), good dessert and very well-made drinks. Unfortunately, the entree I got was very strange and disappointing. The seafood scampi (which was mussels, shrimp, scallops and lobster on fettuccine) was smothered in a very odd, thick, starchy, salty substance which was not reminiscent of any scampi I've ever had. It was more like phlegm, had a very worrying smell and flavor (I was worried it was off), and was not enjoyable. Next time I will get a steak and hopefully that will make for a 5-star evening.

Beautiful quaint inn, lovely fireplace and warm friendly atmosphere. Historic Smithville is like taking a trip back in time .Festive Christmas cocktails offered and a tasty lunch was enjoyed.

lovely group dinner here for a corporate retreat. i had chicken and it was really good. they didn’t cook my husbands steak enough and he had to send it back twice, as did a few other people in our group. the lady that took care of our room was really sweet tho. cheesecake was a bit disappointing, but my french 75 was delicious.

A quaint and cozy restaurant within a beautiful and historic shopping area. Waitstaff service was friendly and attentive (though the manager was throwing a bit of a temper tantrum when we arrived. Frankly rude to a customer asking a question). Soup was room temperature but flavorful. Entree portions were huge and tasty. I just didn't like the feeling we were a hindrance for making a late reservation, which the manager definitely did.

A beautiful inn and the true reason that the town is here in the first place. This restaurant is genuinely historic to its bones and you can see it for yourself when you are here. The current management has done a wonderful job of keeping up a high standard as everything is perfect. What else could possibly be said?

Had a great dinner experience at The Smithville Inn! The staff was awesome, very accommodating and helpful. There were 13 of us and service was perfect! Food was delicious! No one at our table had a bad meal, everyone loved the food. For some, it was their first time at the Inn and said they can't wait to come back.

Had my Bridal Shower here! The staff was so amazing and helped the whole time! Food was great and everyone was just raving about how adorable the space was! Couldn't recommend more! Thank you so much!

My husband and I went there on Friday night with another couple and were treated with professional care from the valet parking attendant, the hostess, the manager Russell and our server Brianna..The food was delicious and the piano player was very entertaining also all the staff was very attentive to keeping our water filled and tables clean. We had prime rib and the Tuna dinners and French onion soup all very very good and the homemade toasted coconut cheesecake was one of the best ever a must try.

My husband and I had to send back our food on both dishes as they were prepared in a large bowl as if it were a soup dish. I ordered the short ribs which was full of fatty meat. My husband ordered the chicken with crab same thing prepared like soup in a bowl. We sent back both dishes. We figured at $37.00 a piece the crab cakes would be a winner. Crab cakes looked great on the plate and the presentation looked yummy but they were very disappointing. Full of bread and filler. Thee Worst crab cakes I ever had. Atmosphere is what you’re paying for. Salad that comes with meal was very tiny. We will not be going back again.

Update: Just went back this evening excellent as always. There was a little mishap with some peppers in a sauce and my sister cannot eat peppers they switched it out very quickly and took care of it. Everyone goes here for the pot pie and it definitely did not disappoint. The portion was large everything was well done and tasted awesome. Mike was our server and he was exceptional. The music was a little loud, but beautiful place. The main food was awesome however the crackers and bread probably could use a little bit of an upgrade, I know they could do better.

My wife and I celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary 💕 and can honestly say the atmosphere, food, and service were spot on. Kelly, our server was totally awesome, and her wine recommendation was perfect. Thank you 😊

The Rack of Lamb was perfect. The Crab Imperial was loaded with real lump Crab and very tasty. Everyone we engaged conversation with was very pleasant. The Manager did a table touch to check on everything. Other food coming from the kitchen looked great and the portions were very nice.

First and LAST time eating here! They really need to do something about the acoustics because there were a few large parties and the noise was deafening! We had to scream to talk to each other and our ears were ringing by the time we got out of there and the service was soooo slow it took 2 HOURS from sit down to stand up. The tables are small and so close together the staff could not even get around the table and was handing dishes over top of other people-rude. The prices are outrageous and when you charge $37 for a 'shredded crab' cake (NOT whole lump), it is expected to receive something more substantial than a plate full of coleslaw and some rice!!! The pumpkin soup was the equivalent of unbaked, overly sweet, thick, pumpkin pie filling, not soup. Other than historical charm of the area, this place is a two thumbs down for all of us and we won't be returning or recommending it! What a complete waste of our time and money!!

Dear Erin and the Smithville Team, I am so happy to say, the “birthday girl” was surprised and delighted at her 65th party. The guests were very enamored of the setting and delicious food. The menu was spot on, well prepared and presented. The filet and salmon were perfect and well complimented by the spinach salad, roasted vegetables, and fresh fruit. We had guests from Boston, Philadelphia, and locally. Everyone was so relaxed and satisfied, they just lingered rather than get on the road. Super fun day. Rebecca gave us IMPECCABLE service and I highly recommend your venue to any one that wants a super celebration for a milestone or just a cozy and delicious afternoon or evening out. Everything about our party was too notch.... everyone had a great time. No one had to oversee the party ... they had everything perfect. Food food and more food came out .... cocktails were perfect and they provided a large clean space for our party. Bathrooms were spotless. What a Great time

First time here yesterday, and I was blown away at not only the food, but the ambiance as well! Really cool old building with an enormous fireplace as you walk in. Very homey. The food was slammin’ too! Had this Salmon nacho dish that was incredible! The bacon app was also inhaled at the table immediately. My turkey lunch was huge, and just the perfect comfort food for a cold day. Really cool spot, and it’s a must if you are in the area.

The wasabi tuna entree, bacon, and salmon lunch won ton apps were delicious. Burger, a little dry. Server could be trained better at carrying drinks. Like martinis or white wine. Otherwise, very cute, charming and friendly place.

Just had the chicken pot pie. Wow it was a huge pie with all the wonderful pot pie flavors exemplified!! The service was top notch. Everyone was friendly and very personable. This is a very well run establishment with attention to culinary detail.

Wonderful experience! I'm from the area and have not been here in a long time. Our waiter Mike was fun and knowledgeable. Always had a smart quip about something going on at our table.
