The location is fantastic, in a beautiful central area of Paris, Le Marais, which I felt very safe in. The staff are lovely, the rooms are spotlessly clean (if a little dated - it would be great to have more plugs/outlets for phone chargers). The building is beautiful but very old and unfortunately the sound travels at night. With any hostel, your experience depends on the guests around you and sadly there was a large group of young boys (although the noise they made sounded more like a band of gorillas) screaming, screeching, banging around and playing until 1am when somebody eventually shouted at them to stop. You could hear everything as though they were in the room. Despite this, I would still return to the MIJE hostel. It's perfect location, cleanliness, friendly staff and free breakfast make it worthwhile (or at least worth the risk of sharing with a group of wild kids).

Probably the worst stay I ever had. Booked an "all-female dormitory room" but for some reason there was one man in my room who was also snoring super loud all night. The room was very small for 4 people, WC door's lock was broken, there was no soap to wash your hands. Bunk beds loud and unstable. My bed linen was washed poorly, found 4 hairs on it. Walls are very thin, could hear everything from the hallway and other rooms. Building is old and need renovation. Breakfast is disappointing - all you get is bread, jam and coffee or orange juice. The only good things is the location and luggage storage.

I had the worst stay ever. The price is very good and if you don’t have high standards I don’t think sleeping in this “hotel” will be a problem for you. However, our room was dirty and the shower drain had a weird smell. Be prepared for a sleepless night because of the uncomfortable bed and the noise. You don’t have toilets in your room and those on our floor were broken. I informed the receptionist and he told me they would fix them but they didn’t do anything about it during or whole stay. I’m never gonna stay there again. I rather spend a bit more and be more comfortable.

This is a horrible hostel. The guy at the reception is rude and unhelpful like a typical French person. They don’t take reservations at the desk which is dodgy. All the phone numbers lead to the same guy at the reception, to reach the manager is almost impossible. Do not go here! Not recommended! Additional information: Hostel claims to provide excellent service, but rest assure this is untrue and it already indicates that by giving such a response they have something to hide. This hostel is unacceptable.

Very comfortable bed and clean place, the breakfast was ok, specially if you take in account that is very rare to get a hostel with breakfast included in Paris. Just stayed one night but overall a good place to stay.

This is my third time staying with MIJE in Paris. I have loved my experience each time. The rooms are clean and the community is solid. I love the common/social spaces, like the courtyard and lounge areas. The piano is a great touch, and the location cannot be beat!

It was such a magical place on Christmas Holidays in 2019. I would love to visit it again! :)

Beds aren't terrible. Clean sheets. Close to two nearby metro stations and bus routes. Short walks away from Notre Dame, Saint Chapelle and other sights. However... The place looks nothing like the photos! Grim and grubby bedrooms and showers. No AC, 1 plug socket in a room of shared people (people were even using the sockets next to the sink to charge phones, broken lights (which have been reported but left unfixed... At least for the full 4 nights I was there), no lockers for belongings, even the advertised luggage room I wouldn't consider secure as guests are allowed in and out alone to take their own bags in, you're "NOT ALLOWED" in your room between 12&3 while they get cleaned, not much available for the inclusive breakfast aside from lumpy yogurts, baguettes and two types of cereal. Low regard for disability access needs too; I had to request three times (once in a message before my stay and twice at reception) for a bottom bunk bed due to balance issues from an inner ear issue (hearing aid user also) to be told that it would depend on availability... It took showing my disability rail card to aid my explanation that I wasn't trying to be awkward! Thankfully, a room of bottom bunks was available though I was assured that in the event that there wasn't, another room would be sourced which was kind. They must realise their shortcomings as cancellations made before a stay EVEN AT NO NOTICE will still receive partial refunds but they also have a policy that says "Any stay initiated and interrupted by the customer is due in [fall], whatever the reason. No reimbursement will be made."... So basically if you check in and then realise how bad it is, they won't refund?! I forgot to mention that some of the shower rooms don't have doors, the showers are mostly cold/take AGES to warm up (not a problem during this heatwave mind but can't imagine it would be good in other seasons) and both showers I tried had to be held due to broken shower head holders!

Mije really surpassed my expectations in terms of the room set up, the ten dorm room is actually three separate rooms so you have heaps of space and lots of light. The location is excellent. The breakfast is terrible though and the "chef" is really rude and seems to hate you if you can't speak French despite working in an international hostel. The hostel is also not very social, better if you just want somewhere to crash.

Not great overall. Lots of kids when I stayed here such that they were loud after midnight or even at 1 am. No hot water or barely any water pressure in my room and j complained again and again until finally after like four days they put me in another room. Would not recommend overall.

It is such a cozy and comfortable hostel, I could not wish for more. Staff is genuinely kind. Edward at the reception is great ! Always professional, fun and attentive to details. Bedding is perfectly clean and rooms are quiet and well heated

Amazing simple place with a great location. Highly recommended if you are on budget but still want to be in a great location. Breakfast is included and the staff very nice

Comfortable private room with no small plastic bathroom extras. I had my own towel and phone service so that wasn’t a problem. The view from my window evoked a charming medieval Paris, and the muted noise of the hostel was simply a reminder of earlier stays.

The hostel itself is nice and the staff is really kind and helpful. The problem is that the rooms with the beds have no doors so you can hear everyone at night using the bathroom or coming home late at night. That is quite annoying and makes it hard to sleep.

Friendly staffs during my stay, location is great with 2 metro stations within 300m. Not too busy nor noisy even situated next to Marais’ entry.

I stayed in a small female dorm with ensuite bath. The room was basic and historic but well-maintained and quiet, with a lovely view of the courtyard. I had no security issues with the self-serve luggage room. There was a visiting school group, but they stayed in designated areas. The location was very convenient for morning walks on the Seine or in Le Marais; it felt more residential and was still central. As a solo traveler, it’s more a place to sleep than to meet other travelers - most people were in groups - but I felt safe in the area.

It’s super cool to stay in such nice historical buildings with this low budget. Pretty cool for academic group. Wish the breakfast can be better and they know what’s club membership.

We got a room for 4. Electrical sockets throughout the room, but only one socket actually works! It was a cold October weekend, 2 radiators in the room but ye never turned them on at any stage! Room is damp and the towels couldn’t dry. Cop on lads

This was the second time I stayed at Mije Marais, and once again I was very happy with my stay. The rooms are clean and warm, the bed is comfy, the shower is good, so is the breakfast - which is included - and the staff is friendly and helpful. The only downside was that the internet didn't reach my room (on the 4th floor), but it worked well downstairs.

It’s a beautiful space but the hostel lacks a bit of vibe and character. I didn’t interact with anyone after 3 nights there - it’s set up in a rather cold way. Rooms don’t have lockers which was a bit annoying. There are toilets in the hallway but no sink there. Inside the room there is a sink and a shower but no hand soap. Overall - space is great, you get what you need. I think it could be organized a lot better to improve the vibe, especially given how centrally located it is

Great location, easily accessible. Walking distance to the Sainte Chapelle and other attractions. Just round the corner to a metro station. Lots of nearby restaurants, convenience stores. Clean rooms and bathrooms, wifi not incredibly good, but works quite well in public areas. Breakfast is okay. 24 hour front desk, helpful staff. Offer baggage storage for same day collection after checkout. Had a good stay

A lovely space ! Kind staff, perfect location, and very nice breakfast. Some of the rooms have wifi and others don't, some bathrooms have sinks and others don't so it is worth exploring. But all in all, I would stay again.

i had a room with shower all for myself, need to use the public toliet. the bed is small but very comfortable. location is super. just if you are sensible for the noise, you will hear the bus,the subway, the birds, people walking on the stairs. it doesnt bother me, i will choose to stay here again

A decent hostel in an amazing location; the Seine is a 3 minute walk away, and Gare de Lyon is also easy to get to by foot. Notre Dame and Île Saint-Louis are also very close by. The room was clean and well-kept. The main issue was a lack of ventilation, even with all the windows wide open it was uncomfortably stuffy at night, so perhaps a ventilator would help in the summer months. You also have to bring a towel or buy your own, there are none available for rental, which is not the most sustainable approach in my opinion.

If you are looking for a fun hostel with young adults and people looking for a good time. This is not it. Expect a very quiet and lonely stay with older people and families. Very dark all the time due to them using time controlled lights. Rooms are OK, no curtains on dorm beds, one outlet but each bed has on on USB, and the shower has a curtain for privacy. Also, no wifi in rooms! I had terrible service so had to go to to the first floor from my room to use the wifi.

5 star for everything. The location is the best- few steps to everything, the decor and the building make you feel live living in the very parisian Paris. Price is super cheap if you book in advance. We have big big room- see the picture with only 3 beds, private bathroom with door. They even have spare blanket. The inconvenient thing is that you don’t have security locker inside the room and you need the receptionist to open the common room for you to put or to take your stuff, however they have 24/24 reception desk which is nice. Breakfast is simple but I even didn’t expect a breakfast with that cheap price.

Got some stuff stolen that I forgot to lock, but location was great, within walking distance to major attractions, breakfast was bread, yogurt, cafe/chocolat chaud, cereal. Rooms were clean, service desk friendly. When check in, be sure to lock your valuables. I had some cash and credit cards in my bag/jacket that got stolen (likely by one of my roommates since rooms are card key locked), my other roommate also got robbed overnight.

Front desk management was very conscientious and friendly even though we visited late at night. But my roommate is a disaster. We went to Disney during the day so we came back late and woke her up when we got back to the room. I apologized to her but she told me "shut up"and muttered in French, which I thought was some abusive words. When I lived in another MIJE, the whole hostel was full of young foreign students and the atmosphere was very good. But this time I was surprised to see a cranky old French lady. It was sad to learn about the quality of this country from her:)

One of the worst experiences I've had with bad service from their greeters, mainly the one in the afternoon. No empathy, mockery and lack of attention to their guest. I found upon arrival that they had booked another room by mistake, something I had not booked and paid for, and they were indifferent only telling me to go to the agency and make the claim there. The room they gave me was an attic, where there was barely room for an adult in that bed, with no space for luggage, and no good ventilation. Other than that, the rest of my stay in Paris was fantastic, I would come back, but not to this hotel.

The location is very good. Very close to the metro, walking distance to notre dame and louvre museum. Around 1h and 15 min walking to the eifel tower but metro is very near the hostel. Clean rooms, nice decoration and comfy beds. The only problem was the rooms were TOO hot and there was no fan or ac in the rooms. Also they don’t rent towels, only sell them for 6€. Simple breakfast, but very nice. Staff are friendly and always helpfull

Our Room was very dirty, because they did not clean it before we came. That was very disgusting. There were also blankets missing. The food was not good. We didn´t even get plates. For that price my expactations where much higher than what we found there. Our room did not have a toilet in it, so you had to share the toilet on the floor with several other rooms. That is also a no-go for the price we paid. And it is not hygienic.

  • 5/5 Sandy S. 7 months ago on Google
I stayed in a female, 3 person room. It was spacious and had a sink and shower in the room. It would be good if MIJE could provide a bathmat for the floor outside the shower. And there was no Kleenex or any paper towel to use and to dry hands.

We had a really nice stay at the Mije hostel. The quartier is obviously beautiful, in the Marais, the staff was really nice and helpful and we had a beautiful 3-bed bedroom with a Private bathroom all to ourselves. We went out and came back in the early morning, someone was always there to welcome us which is really nice. Another plus point was the room and sheets were spotless, which is very important for us. The building itself is beautiful. Only problem we had was we were in a room right next to the lift and everytime someone used it, it made a sound and held one of us awake.. so maybe turn off the sound of the lift or better sound isolation? Thank you anyway! Perfect for a small group

A medieval setting in a really perfect place of Paris. Clean and comfortable, enjoyable breakfast.

The building is really nice, the rooms are cleaned daily and the breakfast is included. The place is a 25-30 minutes walking from the main museums (Louvre, D'Orsay, Orangerie...).

I've stayed here twice, once in 1997 and again in 2019. Both times I loved my room, the comfy bed and simple breakfast. Both buildings I've stayed I were extremely clean and beautiful. The location is amazing for accessing almost anywhere in Paris, either on foot or public transportation. I look forward to staying here again.

This hostel is amazing. Its like a luxury hostel with crisp white sheets, daily housekeeping and a free little breakfast. The building is beautiful and peaceful and in a very good location in the center of Paris, next to the river. I don’t know if it’s the best place to meet other travelers but other than that it’s amazing.

  • 4/5 Ogy K. 4 years ago on Google
The location is great. The room was warm and clean. There was no common kitchen area to use. The building is amazing from the architecture point of view and the stares are very old.

Staff were really friendly and approachable which is really important when travelling solo. Great location. Very basic room However, you can hear the noise from outside easily because the way the buildings are designed. I didn't get much sleep.

Very kind staff! The sheets were clean upon arrival and the room was OK. Very good location in the center of Paris, close to Notre Dame. The breakfast is very sober, some ham or cheese would have been nice. There was a luggage room with CCTV, but no individual lockers so be sure to bring a small lock to secure your luggage. Overall, a decent hostel, but not the right place if you want to connect with fellow travelers.

I loved my experience at Mije. It is set in a prime location with easy access to all public transports. i loved the staff and how helpful everyone was at the hostel. Loved coming to the quiet of the room after a long bustling day in Paris. The only one thing I found limiting was the lack of an electric socket by my bunk bed. I got the top bunk and there was no electric socket for me. I found this odd as every hostel I have been to had individual sockets arranged for each bunk bed. But apart from that- everything was lovely!

  • 5/5 Robdoesitall 2 years ago on Google
Had a great time there! The breakfast cafe is underground and it’s so cool! Would definitely stay there again. I stayed in a room that had low ceiling. Made me feel like I was 10 feet tall lol.

Not suitable for adults. This is a dorm for youngsters, kids, children. They shouldn't allow mixing of generations. This was the most uncomfortable hostel I've ever used. Uncomfortable beds, no doors on bathroom, toilets outside in corridors and no basin in toilets, which is very unsanitary. Included breakfast was a joke.

  • 5/5 Ilai W. 2 years ago on Google

Worst service ever. Thought it would be like a hostel, room super tiny, not even done upon arrival, no shampoo, breakfast is not a breakfast. The night manager and the direction don't care about the customer. I never left a bad review in my entire life so it says how angry and disappointed I feel about this place!

  • 3/5 Martin F. 2 years ago on Google
The only reason I stay here is for the location. Also the building is attractive. What is missing is the possibility to make myself a cup of tea.. The lounge area is small and rudimentary.

Would recommend this hostel to any friend staying in Paris! So clean, 24/7 reception, and the Staff was so friendly. All at a great price :)

The accomodation was good. Particularly the bedrooms where clean and tidy. Unfortunately the breakfirst was very smal and there was a missing diversity. At diner my friend ordered vegetarian food and he got fish. Toilettes where clean but the toilettepaper was really inconvenient. Employees where friendly and helpful.

A lovely place to stay. Simple room (some may say old-fashioned) but in the centre of the most beautiful city in the world. The crew is very welcoming, does its best to help or/and advise you. A quiet place in a noisy capital. You will realise then that's a precious advantage too !

  • 3/5 LonelyGovernment 1 year ago on Google
Poor WiFi and almost no outlets. The rooms were pretty small the bathrooms were not cleaned. The shower in our room was quite literally a hole in the wall. But th view was nice I can understand the mediocre quality for being that affordable in such a nice arrondissement. Very well placed, near public transport. I would recommend if you're looking for a cheap place to stay in a beautiful city

Beautiful old building, quiet court inside. Very relaxed multi-purpose rooms with beamer, lounging furniture and modern lights nicely contrasting with the sandstone walls and massive wooden beams still visible at the ceiling.

  • 4/5 Ciao-jie S. 1 year ago on Google
I stayed here 2 nights, overall neat and tidy in the room, has own lamp next to the bed, includes free breakfast(bread, yogurt, Cereals, coffee, tea, orange juice, jam, butter). Down side is mold on the bathroom, no refrigerator, only two charge places with 3 people in the room. One of thing that make me unhappy. They have 3 hostel, I booked in the website, they emailed said they will email me when date is closer and let me know which hostel will be, so I got email said I will be in MIJE Maubuisson hostel, when I arrived on the day to drop my luggage, she said I’m in other hostel, I told her I got the email I will be here, she said her coworker made mistakes, sorry, each hostel isn’t far, but it’s annoyed that if you have a big luggage.

The location - 5-10 mins walk from museums in Le Marais, Place des Vosges, la Seine, 2 mins walk from St Paul metro - is the best one can ask for at this price point. The building and courtyard is beautiful. The dormitory was clean, quiet and comfortable. The single room was disturbed by noise (though that is understandable with school groups staying nearby) and the bed was confined behind a wall and cupboard, but again it was incredible value for money and a very pleasant stay all in all.

  • 4/5 _ H. 1 year ago on Google
This is a simple, clean and relaxed youth hostel in the heart of Paris. The old building has been renovated beautifully which makes for a quirky array of rooms. I was lucky enough to sleep in a chambre de bonne (on the top floor) with a gorgeous rooftop view, including the Effel Tower! There is seating in the courtyard, some common seating areas and a restaurant that serves a simple breakfast included in the price. Bear in mind that this is a youth hostel and you're more likely to find school groups lounging in the common areas than a party vibe, so if that's what you're looking for you might wish to look elsewhere. I had a comfortable night and felt safe. My suggestions for improvement are: to fix the USB charging ports by the bed (cute idea but mine didn't work) and to sort out the hot water situation (it was okay this time to take a cool shower because of the heatwave but on another occasion this could have been a big disappointment!)

The "dorm" was actually a small shared room with 3 beds very close to each other. Overall it was nice and clean. They let me keep my luggage in the deposit even after my check without charging any extra.
