Worst place ever! -Paid 130 a night -No towels -Prisoners have better beds -WiFi didn’t work - AT ALL -Breakfast was rations and horrible -We were eaten alive by bugs at night Avoid this place at all costs! I stayed here in October 2017. The hotel was open. Never stay here! It’s four years later and I’m still scarred for life!

Mixed feelings! The location is fantastic! Located in a quiet area just two corners away from the hustling streets. 'Walking' distance to gare de lyon and the metro and bus stations are in reach within 2min. But it gives vibes of an old knights castle - It has a musty smell. There's no elevator but up to 4 floors. Per floor only 3 toilets, which will not stay clean... There's a sink and a shower in the room, but when I arrived it smelled like piss in there (guess a private toilet per room would have been a better idea). Also as there are just beds and no private curtains, one wakes up easily, each night I had new roommates that arrived late and struggeled to keep quiet and the light low while setteling in. Furthermore, the hostel is mostly frequented by school classes, who are rather loud amd overly excited.

THE WORST HOSTEL I HAVE EVER STAYED IN. The first night I was in a dorm room completely alone. Was such a weird vibe. It is SO LOUD whenever someone walked up and down the stairs in the hostel it sounds like BANG BANG BANG, and the walls are so thin you can hear everyone talking (mainly a bunch of kids). It was impossible to sleep or relax because of this and ended up giving me a headache. There was absolutely no privacy in the dorm room. The beds were really small and uncomfortable. They were all crammed together into one corner. It was so weirdly layed out to the point where your head and ur neighbours feet were 15cm apart, it was too much. And no curtains of course. No wi-fi or service in bedroom, really disappointing. The shower was really cramped, and the curtain was gross. It was disgusting and claustrophobic. Plug sockets next to bed do not work so could not change my phone or anything I needed to charge. That’s really bad. You can not check in until 3pm on the dot, even if you arrive 10 mins before. Felt really petty. The lady who was on reception when I arrived was really rude. The other guys were okay but honestly gave off weird annoying energy. They charged me an extra €3 fee to check into the hostel as a compulsory membership fee… what the fuck… Not social at all, not a single person spoke to me. It is definitely not a backpackers hostel of appropriate for solo travellers. The ‘free breakfast’ is just some dry cake and cereal. Was disappointed. You have to be out of your room everyday between 12-3 so they can clean, meaning u can’t access the room you paid for. Would definitely not recommend staying here. I have travelled for years and never come across such a bad hostel.

Pros: Good location. Quiet area. Price is average. Cons: Rude kitchen guy, very weak wifi signal, and arbitrarily strict rules. Your confirmation says that you have to check in before noon or your reservation will be cancelled. However, if you go before noon, they'll tell you that you can't go into your room until 3 pm. So i had to put my luggage in a closet and do something for 3 hours after a long overseas flight. Then, during my stay, I couldn't even go upstairs just to get my phone charger and come straight back down. The room itself is fine, though there are only two plugs for 5+ people. Don't recommend, won't return.

The atmosphere is nice, cleanliness needs improvement(one blanket had some smell so that I changed), people are nice and friendly, spacious overall in the entire building, taking a shower is a bit uncomfortable(shower booth is separated from the room but there is no door, so it’s humid at night), breakfast is basic. Make sure to check your beddings and carefully examine them. For the other aspects, I was certainly satisfied with two nights of my stay and would recommend this hostel.

Beautiful hostel - from the friendly check-in to the antique building. The dorms were perfectly prepared and clean. Breakfast was provided - sufficient if not large. WiFi was stable, the area was secure, and the location was right next to the 1 metro line that takes you down all the classic Paris sites. Highly recommend. Just be aware that this is a youth hostel and bring some ear plugs if you're not on the top floor.

it was the worthiest hostel I have been ever. no safety. a lot of ant was in my room. there is not toilet in your room. even there is no soup for washing your hands. there is no hairdryer. my towel is missed and they only said sorry. whenever I go out and back my key didn't work. I bought little cheese and applied for saving in your refrigerator one time, they didn't accept.

Great hostel! We had a room facing the street and it was super quiet (from the other reviews it probably depends on who is staying here). Good breakfast and close to convenience stores. Highly recommend picking up some meat, cheese, baguette & wine and walking one minute to the river for a evening picnic. Location is close to transit (M1) and walking distance to many attractions . Staff here are awesome as well. Keep in mind there is no elevator so those with mobility issues should keep this in mind. Enjoy!

Great hostel! The room was spacious and clean. The staff was really very cool and friendly. He recommended the best pastries to try around the area. Breakfast was okay. Overall, a very good experience.

You should fill the room according to the time when people go to sleep. Or restrain the time when people can enter a room. One of the person came to the room aroun 1 o'clock in the night and turned on the lights made noise...etc... Annoying!

Place was clean, and relatively close to tourist attractions. I stayed in the 8 person female dorm. It was an interesting style of room, but not every bed came with a place to charge your phone.

The hostel is nice and clean. But not good facility. Towels are paid. The check in at 3pm, which is very late.

The hostel itself is 3 separate hostels, and I stayed in 2/3 of them. The first night, I was in a 3 bed but alone, which was nice. I booked a single room the second night and it wasn't great - the shower was directly in the room with just a curtain, no liner, so water got all over the floor. There were also a ton of teenagers in the building who were very loud and knocked on my door multiple times during the night/in the morning thinking I was a friend. I have stayed in party hostels that were more respectful of quiet hours than this one. I had another 2 nights booked that I ended up canceling and I went to another hostel.

Awful. I saw a mouse in the lunch area. They hadn't change the bed sheets for the 6 nights I was there, and the bathroom/shower was also dirty. Definitely not recommended.

Very nice quiet rooms in a historic building, super comfy beds with fantastic linens, breakfast included, great location

The location is great and the staff was very friendly. The luggage storege before check in / after check out helps a lot. The bedroom was nice and clean, but there was only one socket for the whole room. The bathrooms outside the room looked clean, however there was a very strong smell of urine and no handsoap. The shower in the bedroom is good and warm, but it wets the entire room while we take a shower. Also, there is no hook to hang a towel or a change of clothes in the bathroom , which can be quite messy. Nice experience overall and worth it for short stays.

This hostel was very poor and I would say one of the worst ones I have stayed in. The bathrooms and showers were gross, in fact my shower flooded the entire room, there was about an inch of water covering the whole hostel room. There are mice running around everywhere. The wifi does not reach anywhere except the lobby, and there are virtually no plug-ins for electronics. On the other hand the staff were great and did what they could to make us feel welcome.

Was cool, but would be nice if the personal might speak other languages, English is the basic, I told to the receptionist I can't speak French, you know English, Spanish, Deutsch or Italian? And he told me "I speak French" and he show me my own phone (to translate) haha doesn't matter, but we're in Europe.

The location is good and close to main attractions in Paris. I paid 82€ per night for single room, nothing really cheap for a so basic room, no towels have been provided and the breakfast was really bad, industrial baguette and cake, terrible coffee and acceptable orange juice. It was quite disturbing the way they control the amount that is provided at breakfast, I cannot take normal milk, so I rely on juice and the lady was reluctant to give me a second glass of juice. Another disturbing thing is they prevent guests from accessing the rooms from 12:00 to 15:00, this is unbelievable one cannot access the room one paid for. The only positive things about the place was the location, the bed comfort and full en suite bathroom with toilet. Avoid this if you can find something better for a similar price.

Beautiful building, in a great location and very friendly staff. Lots of nice places for food, coffee, walk. They are happy to store your lugage before check-in and after check-out, which is very helpful Unfortunately, not impressed by the rest of the facilities. My room was on the fourth floor and there is no elevator. Shower was very small, so much so that could not do anything without banging on the walls. Towels are not provided except for purchase. Bed was equally small. I am 1.85 and there was not enough room to extend legs. - there was a rail at the end of it. Wifi on the 4th floor was practically unusable. Disconnecting and slow when managed to connect. No power socket close to the bed to plug a charger- there was a usb socket but didn't work when i plugged my phone. Breakfast was very simple but included in the price.

The Fouconnier is clean, well maintained, and wonderful location --- close to the Seine River, Notre Dame, and public transportation. Shouting and noisy school groups can be somewhat of an issue. I recommend MIJE to others.

  • 2/5 Lucy W. 9 months ago on Google
Both Mije hostels I stayed at the past week were pleasant however I would not stay again. There was a large number of young children staying that caused alot of noise late at night and early in the morning. For children this age, I do not believe they should be staying in a hostel unless they are supervised as it was very disrespectful and disruptive for all the guests staying in my dorm room. Additionally the wifi did not work in the bedroom which was very disappointing as your ad on Hostel World advertises wifi in the description. My key card did not work to open the front door and when I asked for this to be fixed, the man told me there was a problem with the system and this was not possible. This meant that I had to ensure I was always entering the building during hours the reception was open to ensure I did not have to sleep on the street. Lastly, for the time I stayed, the soap dispenser in the bathroom was never replenished with soap. Given the response and expected standards after the Covid 19 pandemic, I was shocked and disturbed that I had to share a hallway with multiple people with unwashed, dirty hands spreading their germs. I will not be recommending Mije to my friends and family.

Rooms were clean, location is very accessible to the metro, tram and taxi stations, easy to commute. The only problem was the hostel had no lift and we had to carry our bags.

There isn't much to talk about. The staff was wonderful, always very polite and helpful. I only had problems while trying to charge my phone because the socket next to my bed wasn't working.

The hostel is in a great location, very clean and the staff is very nice! I just wish there had been more plugs in the shared room for charging purposes.

Cheap location and close to the city center, but power outlets were not functioning and that’s a big problem when you’re traveling. Anyways, the worst part of my stay was that they lost my belongings which I left under my pillow. None of them was able to find them, which I find quite absurd as someone must have moved them somewhere else to make my bed on that day (also, why would they make my bed if I wasn’t supposed to check out on that day?!). They didn’t give me any kind of refund or benefit to apologize, so I wouldn’t recommend this hostel at all. I’ve travelled a lot and I’ve been in many hostels, and I know that sometimes can be noisy etc, but when your belongings go missing, for me is definitely a no!! I’d rather pay more and be sure to come home without losing anything on the way. Also, every night I saw a mouse running in the dinner room (I told the receptionist about it and he replied that he didn’t see anything) so clearly the place needs sanitation

Awesome! I enjoyed my stay so much! The hostel is very beautiful located in historical building, the walls covered in ivy. It’s right in the center, so everyday you’ll walk out to a pleasant street. The whole crew is extremely polite and helpful. In the morning I saw a lot of kids at breakfast, but this made no problem at all. This is the best place to stay in Paris for this price! Only positive experience. Thank you very much! Things to note: 1. The shower is inside the room, but the wc is outside 2. You may have to carry your luggage upstairs 3. Towels are at extra price. 4. You can leave your bags in the luggage room if you arrive early before check in or after the checkout. 5. The reception is 24 hours. 6. Bedsheets are nice and clean and so are the rooms. 7. The wifi is only available at the lobby. 8 there are few power sockets in the room, but each bed is equipped with a USB outlet to charge your phone 9. There’s a microwave in the dining area. 10 the breakfast is included. They serve coffee/chocolate/orange juice, croissant, yogurt, bread, butter, jams, cereal.

It's a youth hostel, so one can't expect a lot. Clean, but old, and it's always loud on the wooden stairs. Location is very good to visit all the Paris attractions. Staff are fine. Breakfast is not good (almost nothing). Overall good experience, but they could install an elevator. The stairs can give you hard time if you are traveling with heavy luggage.

  • 5/5 Brad B. 6 years ago on Google
I've stayed here a couple times. It's a nice hostel, clean and the staff are pleasant. The showers in the rooms I've stayed in have kind of a swinging bar door on the shower/sink room. A little more privacy would be nice (but I've heard all rooms aren't like that). The toilets are private but in the hallway rather than the room. The building is ancient by American standards - which I love. The walls, stairs, nooks, courtyards still show their medieval bones even though everything is reasonably updated and modern now. I think my biggest complaint is this hostel sells out often so you have to plan ahead if you want to stay here.

  • 4/5 Shea S. 1 year ago on Google
Very nice! Extremely spacious rooms in a great location! Plus free breakfast was definitely a plus! Downsides were the room only had one outlet and our room was up four flights of stairs with no elevator.

  • 3/5 Jonathan De La T. 1 year ago on Google
The hostel is very well located, the rooms are clean and the neighborhood is quiet. Unfortunately, the room we got didn't have hot water. This was resolved by allowing us to take a shower in a different room. Some people on reception are nice, but some others are not that nice when you need to communicate with them.

I was surprised when I left to be asked for an extra 8e for the tourist tax. I had not seen this mention anywhere on the website.

  • 2/5 Raluca S. 2 years ago on Google
The breakfast was disappointing and there was no hot water at the shower on one night.

  • 1/5 S V. 1 year ago on Google
The rooms are nothing like the pictures. Im guessing because they have different locations and they chose not to show this one. The beds are not confortable, the rooms are too hot in summer and it gets very hard to sleep. The shower inside the room is very small and the shower head was quite damaged, it was difficult to shower. There were 3 wall plugs in a room for 6 people. Bathrooms were for the whole floor and for the 2 days i stayed, there was a constant pee smell. I didnt see them clean or smelling good at any point of the day. I thought it was very very expensive for this kind of service. I really do think that the price should be different for the different locations. It feels like a scam to pay a price expecting the beautiful rooms in the site pictures and get something completely different. The staff were great, which was the only good point!

Very nice place to stay while in Paris! Rooms are spacious but the only downside is toilet is in outside your room. You only have shower room. Great value for money for a place like Paris.

Great location and the room was nice and spacious. There's some separating walls so the dorms don't feel as crowdy. Without air-conditioning in my room the night was really warm.

The rooms were not like how they were shown on pictures, there were no beds just mattresses on the floor and they were so close next to each other there was no privacy. the noise levels were so loud right up until the middle of the night. Wasn’t impressed with my stay had to get a hotel for my final night.
