The Abbey is an ideal place to go for a quiet night out for dinner and drinks as the perfect close to a hectic week. The cuisine is superb, wine selection and cocktails are impressive but above all, the service is excellent!

Excellent restaurant! What a super friendly owner! We enjoyed such tasty food, the chicken breast was tender and delicious and not to mention the dessert, wow the sticky date pudding and chocolate brownie was to die for lol 😋🤩 Dont forget to order the Gin cocktail....it was smooth and delicious 🍸 Do yourself a favour and give this restaurant a try the next time you want to dine out! 💃 The Pork Belly is to die for... a definite must!! 🍷

Probably one of the worst restaurants I’ve dined at. Took my staff there for our Christmas dinner. Looked great inside and all was good at the start until the waiter started to serve us….unfortunately not very experienced…. - Plonks the wine bottle in the middle of the table and just walks away - no idea how to serve plates - holds cutlery by the eating end - waves the knives around like he’s going to throw them - and there’s much more, believe me - manager was drunk - Food was average at best - one colleague showed the uncooked chicken (see photo) and the chef said it was just blood off the bone - extremely expensive for what we received - in the end when I was paying my $1,300 bill I was just reviewing the bill and was told to by the drunk manager to “just pay the F,n bill will you” Dine with caution folks….I don’t know, this may have been a one off incident, but I won’t be coming back that’s for sure!!

Had another great relaxing experience with The Abbey crew this avo'. With a bus stop right outside to drop us off and take us home later plus great food and drink, it is a very hard place to beat. Looking forward to next time already!

My partner and I enjoyed a delicious meal here this afternoon. Our main was top class and the sticky date pudding was devine. The staff were quick and welcoming, yes I would recommend this restaurant 👍

Superb food. Steak was cooked to perfection, and the creme brulee was amazing. Only flaws were with the service. Water was hard to come by (they didn't have jugs for the table, and they did not top up water unless asked). I am sure we would have all had more drinks if they had been more attentive on that front as well. All in all, a very pleasant evening.

Meals were amazing as always, the lady who was the manager was very good and taking care of everyone however the same couldn't be said about the staff who struggled to understand basics of bar mixers. Having to explain which brands are whiskeys was a bit embarrassing. Don't expect a carpark, get an uber here... You'll want to stay for a while!

Booked this place last minute based on the reviews and they didn't disappoint 👌. Food were very tasty even the spaghetti bolognaise my 6 years old ordered was so good. Loved the feature wall of wines and quotes, the room weren't crowded which is a bonus and the girl who served us was friendly & very welcoming. We will definitely come back. A+

Hidden local gem. Great menu with lots of classics and their own twists with quality ingredients. Lots of gluten free options. Super knowledgeable staff. Relaxed cozy vibe. Excellent cocktails. Great for a date night meal.

Mischa and her team at the Abbey put on the BEST evening for us. A very warm and welcoming atmosphere with wonderful customer service and outstanding food, one of the best steaks I've ever eaten! A great place to go for a casual dinner with friends or a first date ;)

Went on a Tuesday night so a bit quiet. Reasonably expensive for the portions. Chicken wings to start were a bit weird. Friend had the aranchini balls that were good. Had the special meal with duck, pork, dophenoise potatoes and steak. Of the 4 things, the steak was amazing and the others were average. Would try somewhere else next time I stay.

Came in last night with my family to celebrate my Dad's birthday. The service was excellent and we were well looked after by the staff. Especially by the Asian waiter with the black suspenders. The venison special was the highlight of the night. The dish was presented beautifully and was very tender and delicious. Will definitely visit again!

Very consistent food quality, which is always pleasant. Great place for a working lunch. Also, the staff are super polite and professional. Annemarie is the best!

My family went here for a drink and pub experience (as we thought it was just a pub). Lo and behold, it turns out that this is what I would call a fine -dining restaurant. The ambiance, menu selection and prices certainly reflected this too. Regardless, we ended up ordering meals, wine and cocktails and it was a truly enjoyable and tasty experience. I highly recommend this establishment but just make sure you're going here with the expectation of a restaurant (and not a pub) experience.

absolutely wonderful staff and food! the bar staff were incredibly friendly and gave amazing and assuring service. Food and drinks arrived very promptly and serving portions were perfect, they're good for sharing and eating alone, whichever you prefer, as well it is worth the money! The owner introduced herself to my group as we were dining, who is a very friendly and proud woman, a delight to meet! I will definitely be dining in again and would recommend it to anyone looking for something easy to eat and good cocktails!

We have been going to the Abbey for years. It's our favorite restaurant because the menu is just perfect and it has been like this for years. Excellent food fantastic selection of wines and lovely staff to give you great value for a perfect evening.

Having spent a week in Hamilton/Otorohanga for my Dad’s tangi my daughter and I just wanted a nice meal before we fly home to Australia, tomorrow. This place didn’t disappoint. Fantastic food, great atmosphere, awesome service. Thanks so much.
