We came here on recommendation by our friend from out of town. He reckoned it was the best ramen he'd ever had so we had high expectations based on this. We probably should have ordered the ramen dish he based this off (red chilli miso) but I'm not a massive fan of spice so decided to give the intriguing 'zoolmen' a go. Unfortunately the expectation did not meet the reality. More of a dry noodle lacking flavour so if you're a fan of usual ramen I would recommend sticking to that. I got to try the one my partner ordered and it was definitely better than my zoolmen so I got proper food envy and ask him to pour some of his broth in mine. The service was really attentive even though we were seated upstairs and couldn't go wrong with a plum wine. Will try to go back and give the stock standard ramen another chance. Karaage chicken was spot on.

I’ve spent a lot of time in Japan and had a lot of ramen along the way - Zool Zool is pretty much as authentic as it gets for Auckland. I’d go as far as saying it’s one of the top ramen restaurants we have. Today I ordered the Spicy Black Sesame ramen which was the special - it had 🌶🌶🌶 or 🌶🌶🌶🌶 level of spice. I know Japan isn’t known for its spicy food and suspected at 4 chillies I’d still find it pretty mild, and it turns out I was right. So while it was very much not spicy, it was still delicious.

I had been to many ramen restaurants in the past in many countries, including Japan. This Zool Zool is among the top ones, because it brings a cozy atmosphere with authentic great ramen variety. I got the spice Tan Tan version and it was astonishing good. The staff is friendly all Japanese from waiters to kitchen. Price is affordable and fair. Willing to come back and see how good are the other dishes.

The best ramen I have had in New Zealand, bar none! The noodles themselves were an absolute delight and the broth was absolutely fabulous. I slurped my way to foodie bliss. Their sides are amazing as well, the gyoza were delectable and the karaage chicken were both perfection. The service was spectacular as well. Extraordinarily prompt with the food, it came much quicker than I imagined and still managed to feel laid back and not rushed. The staff were all very friendly and attentive, checking in on us as needed to ensure we had water and drinks topped up. They really seem to genuinely care about not only the food they are creating here but also the overall experience their customers have. I’ll be back here for sure, as often as I possibly can - the tonkatsu ramen was amazing but I can’t wait to try the other ramen dishes they have as well. The portion size also was exactly perfect, I left feeling both satisfied but also grateful we have Zool Zool here in Aotearoa, we’re very fortunate to have such an exquisite ramen establishment.

The broth of Paitan Ramen is so tasty and chicken is very tender! The ramen noodles have got my favorite texture! Even more, the cheesecake with its super delicious citrus sauce makes this meal perfect👍 Lovely staff and good service! Highly recommend

This is a an amazing unique Japanese Eatery. They have a number of fresh takes on some classic Japanese flavors of Ramen. But they also have a signature style of of dish they call zoolmen. These are Ramen but the broth is reduced into a paste. Making effectively a "pasta". Would definitely recommend giving this a try. They are also currently serving a bitter creme caramel which is also a winner. Will be here again.

What we ordered: Cherry and pomegranate soda $5.5 Shoyu ramen $19 + Gyoza Karaage chicken Takoyaki (I don't remember how much any of these cost) I ordered the shoyu ramen and the noodles were bouncy and delicious. The broth was really nice and savoury but I would still recommend you douse it in garlic and sesame cause it just makes everything better. The pork was also very thick cut and tender, which I loved. I also tried a little bit of the chicken from someone else's ramen but it was very juicy and not dry at all so yay!! The gyoza were delicious, the karaage chicken was super crunchy and still juicy on the outside and the takoyaki never fails. My only real complaints were that the egg was a bit cold and I wasn't a huge fan of the drinks. The food is amazing, the drinks are not (except for the calpico soda which is incredible)

Was driving around Auckland just couple hours before our flight and decided to have a quick bite here before leaving. A very happening Japanese bar it seems, lots of people came in and out for quick noodles and left. We had a lot of time to kill so we took our own sweet time. They served some interesting drinks too but I did not try as we were both tired and we had to drive. Tried the fried octopus and it was amazing. Their house ramen, chicken soup, I found it to be very bland but the ramen is very good with a slight hard texture like Italian's way to saying aldente. I think it was my mistake to order their recommendation rather than going with my personal favourite (the tonkotsu). Having said that, it doesnt mean it's all bad just that my choice for noodle is always pork. The chicken soup is also nice but just somewhat too bland for my likings.

Great little neighbourhood Ramen restaurant, came here a few times, food standard and services consistently very good. Very well priced for Mt Eden. The highlights for me always are some ramen you can choose up to 4 levels of spiciness, short waiting time and really fresh, delicious appetisers.

Finally stepped into this two storeys restaurant in the centre of vibrant Mt Eden, serving a good range of ramen on their menu. What a great and lively ramen house to visit on a Friday night. We ordered the Tonkatsu and Shoyu Chicken broth ramens. Have to say the broth is delightful and flavoursome. The staffs are courteous and friendly from booking a table over the phone to serving our meals. A gratifying dinner experience, one which we will return again. Thank you 😆

Shoyu ramen: broth is quite weak - the stock probably needs some work. Chashu was tender and flavourful but didn't quite fit in with the rest. Would have liked to see the extra step taken to shape it properly rather than leaving it rectangular. Egg was simply hard-boiled, rather than marinated and with liquidy yolk as is common. It was also cold. Noodles were not quite as chewy as I'd like ramen to be. 4/10. Takoyaki - heated from frozen. My first one was still ice cold in the center. The rest seemed to have been heated more evenly. Outer shell was nice and crispy but the dough was nearly liquid. Very little squid. 2/10.

The worst ramen I have ever had, how can you justify charging 20-21 dollars for a bowl of ramen with no meat in it and minimal vegetables and garnishing? Average broth and extra free noodles for lunch? there were hardly any noodles. STAY AWAY

The atmosphere and service was OK. One of the ramen ordered (the Tonkotsu ramen) would have benefited from more flavour.

Beautiful food great service. One of the best ramens I've had in Auckland. The broths are full of flavour and it tastes like a lot of time and effort has gone into making these broths. Noodles are wheat based and just soak up all the flavour. I had the vegetarian ramen, it was sesame and ginger flavoured, it was nice to have something different to try. Nothing to complain about, service is great, waiting time is not long and there is a lot of turnover with customers. I had the roasted rice tea and it was lovely I highly recommend it. Also had 5 type seafood salad, vege gyoza , takowasa, fried squid and paiten ramen, there was nothing left on the plates.

Great ambience and super friendly staff that look after you well. Their Ramen has to be one of the best I've had and hands down this is our favourite ramen place to go to. They've got great range from soup or dry ramen along with delicious gyoza and takoyaki. For the best ramen experience you must visit Zool Zool!

The ramen was decent but the broth wasn't very flavourful. $1.8 to add chili powder to the broth or you can pour half the bottle of chili oil already at the table. Decently priced.
