I visited State & Main and I will probably never return until changes are made. The restaurant had a very long wait time even though there were many tables open. The staff was very young, unexperienced , uneducated and rude. It seemed like most of them did not know what their job entails. One of the servers was a young man who did not even know what the dish he was holding and dropped the plate very agressively onto the table, dropping the fries. The food itself was very poor. I ordered the steak sandwich and it was just a poorly overcooked and dry steak on top of what seems like a piece of white sliced wonder bread. Would give this location less than a 1 star if possible.

Lovely patio sitting area. Very good customer service. The server - Lauren was very friendly & nice. Unfortunately our food was just ok. We ordered the Truffle & Shrimp Rigatoni, the pasta was very oily. when it's heated at high temperatures, the fat separates from the rest of the cream. The fat is the oil you see and that's why our dish could turn into a half oil, half cream mess when you reheat your pasta sauce in the microwave. I hope that was not the case. The Royal Bangkok noodle bowl was also quite salty & oily. The Main burger, Pretzel bites & West Coast Chop salad were pretty good. They also have daily special on menu. We got the half price of wine on Thursday.

My first time was very good there and it was very good the service was amazing and the girl who was serving us was so nice and sweet. The food was really good we all enjoyed it, I just wish the portions were a bit bigger on the pasta. And maybe just more lighting in the restaurant and would give it a 5/5 but overall would recommend you should go there for date,fun,family,and birthdays

This is your average bar & grill restaurant so I went into it not expecting much which is exactly what I got. I had The Veggie burger with state slaw on the side and it was mediocre at best. The burger was dry, it lacked flavour and sauce. I asked for them to make it extra spicy and I tasted absolutely no spice (to be fair I have a high spice tolerance). The slaw was (again) very lacklustre. The flavour was one dimensional but it still tasted fine — subtly sweet, fresh and creamy. I was just surprised that it didn’t have at least some shaved caps or purple cabbage to make it look more appealing. The best thing on the menu in my opinion was the Australian Shiraz! 🍷😂

Fun spot for a birthday party, lots of seating. Food is not bad. Pub-ish type food.

I was pleasantly surprised at my experience for my first visit to State & Main. The service was outstanding. They easily accommodated my gluten allergy. My steak was very good. Mashed potatoes were creamy without being drowned in butter. Affordable price point. Great atmosphere. And I loved the NY Sour!

Ordered the rigatoni for take out today. Was the worst dish of pasta I have ever had!!!!!! Absolutely zero sauce! Was the driest pasta ever! I have had issues there b4 with food but now I'm done!!!!! Never ever again! Don't waste your money here!

Support local restaurants… one to definitely chose is State & Main!! We ordered their fish & chips and it was amazing! Fresh and crispy goodness! Don’t forget to tip even though you do pick up!! Be kind, be generous and be supportive! Thank you once again!! 👏👏

My first time at any State & Main, the food and service was excellent. I had half price wings made the way I wanted, that wasn't even mentioned on the menu. Annie was my server and was very friendly and kept my drinks coming, from a great beer selection I might add. I highly expect to return in the future and hopefully will get seated in Annie's section again, highly recommended.

Great place for lunch...ordered the veggie burger and the overall quality was terrific. The interior lighting could be improved a bit.

Didn't eat today. Red Ale was right on just like it always is. The atmosphere was pleasant as usual. In two words...Service excellent. Give it a try...I might see you there.

Good food and nice ambiance. Everyone loved the jalapeños Mac N Cheese and Bang Bang shrimp. My fish tacos were a little over fried but the taste was ok. My kids enjoyed the burgers and fries. Pizza was pretty good as well. We will be back!

Jessica was an outstanding host. (Aurora) We were two moms with a gaggle of teens. Jessica was professional while highly inviting and cheerful. Made a point of addressing our allergy concerns at more than one time during our visit. Took time to explain the protocol and policy so we know what steps are taken to make sure we heard and assured. She was experienced and knowledgeable about the entire menu and kind enough to keep track of whose kids were who’s for the sake of the bill. We had a lovely visit and enjoyed our food.

Ordered via delivery. Was surprised to find the menu had a mix of western and Asian food. Perfect for a couple who couldn’t agree on what to order lol… The cheese bread that came with the soup was a nice touch. Pad Thai wasn’t the greatest but good enough from a pub. Hope to try dine in next time.

These guys are great, and if you live in Aurora, they are one of your closest friends for same-day meal plans. A very approachable but upscale-looking dining atmosphere, the inside has character. The food is consistently way above the pub-fare bar for their appetizers, and their dinner selection is broad and all executed well. Caesar salad is good, the fish tacos are great, calamari is probably some of the best I’ve seen of that appetizer. Order the calamari. Worth a visit if in the area, if you live in Aurora you’ve already been.

The Cajun chicken was amazing! I got some new york drink which wasn’t so great. Atmosphere was great. The only reason I give this a two star is because the server had no emotion and it felt like she didn’t even want to serve us. She brought over my birthday dessert with little to no enthusiasm and even told my fiancé that he’s on his own with the singing and left the table and made it so awkward.

We typically have good experiences at State and Main so it was an easy choice when deciding where to take our small family for dinner. Since we have a little one, under two, we decided to go for an early dinner around 5pm. The restaurant was nice and quiet only two or three tables being used indoors as well as the patio so we didn’t expect to be turned away… Well we were wrong. The hostess told us it was reservation only as they were very busy, we explained that the restaurant was clearly empty surely they could sit our small family of 3. They refused and continuously told us they didn’t have any tables as we looked around the empty restaurant. We left to avoid any more confrontation and decided to call the restaurant from the parking lot, we were greeted over the phone very friendly and told we had many tables available and to come on by! Well, weren’t we surprised. We talked to the manager and he was little help at that point so we went to Boston Pizza … GREAT SERVICE! :D

I wanted to love this place because the menu looked so good online, but the service quality was really poor. Waitstaff ignored us for 10 minutes or so when we were first seated (it wasn't very busy, and we had a reservation), 2/4 of our parties food arrived COLD as the grave, the soy chicken was mushy, and our waitress made some off colour comments that I interpreted to be targeted at me as a fat woman ("wow, really really inhaled your salad!"). The drinks were pretty good, but I would certainly never go back to this location after such a dreadful time...the pretzels bites were pretty good though.

😎👍🏼Great food, great lil joint, and great prices!😎👍🏼 The calamari appy had a TON of calamari and squid and also comes with little peppers and jalepenos 🌶👌🏼 This is probably the largest portion of calamari I have EVER received at a restaurant, so I was very happy! 🙃 The noodle bowl (basically pad Thai) was also delish. I wouldn’t have normally ordered this if I’m not at a Thai restaurant, but the 3 ladies beside our table had ordered it and it looked divine 😍 …and it was! Fish tacos were also bomb.. The order came with 2 medium-large tacos. My gf ordered the coleslaw side dish and she said everything tasted greeeeeeatttt!👌🏼 All the prices for appy’s and mains are very reasonably priced and the portion sizes are NOT stingy 😬 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Went back since last review and ordered steak salad. Was delicious and service was great 👍🏼🥗🥩

We always do takeout from this restaurant and this was our first time eating in here. Food was great and delicious. Service was okay. The calamari was so fresh and tender that was cooked just right. I had the Spicy Tuna Poke which was amazingly spicy, so yummy and filling, however, it’s a bit too salty. This is a good cozy place with nice pub vibe and good food.

Delicious steak, pistachio salmon, and cheesecake with a wonderful environnement with great service. We will definitely be coming back :)

Ordered online to pick-up. The site said to come at a 5:50pm. I came one minute before the specified time and my order was sitting there. I drove home within 5 minutes and food was cold. If you are going to make a pickup time - please practice better time management when processing orders.

First time here today and I can honestly say I was quite impressed. Disability friendly as I entered with ease with my scooter. Food was GREAT with alot of options. All staff were super friendly and knowledgeable. Would definitely be back with my family and not hesitate to recommend. Great job State & Main. 👍👍

Arrived at 7pm. Table of 4 - patio. Serving staff young and inexperienced but our server was very pleasant. Total bill amount $196.00 Steak - poor value. Full of muscle $33 plate x 2. Wife - chicken enchiladas - no chicken $17 for beans. Beef dip - good. Appetizers- shrimp bomb - excellent, calamari excellent. Bottom line - I think they may be good as a sea food restaurant, don’t order the steak - go to the keg. The fellow at the door standing behind the counter was quite rude as we left. My wife forgot her mask and he yelled out to her as if she were a child, scolding her. He should have politely offered her a mask. After being closed for so long I would think an owner would put extra time in training staff to make sure the customer experience is a great one. We did not mention anything to the staff, you have one chance to do it great and we won’t be back. It wasn’t the worst but for our once a month dinning experience we won’t be back to State and Main.

I went for dinner to celebrate my birthday with my mother and a friend. Right from the moment we sat down the waitress was extremely rude and ignorant. She had absolutely no customer service skills at all. The appetizers were not great. We ordered the calamari and the pretzels bits. The calamari were soggy and tasted horrible, the pretzels were okay but the cheese sauce that came with it had a horrible taste. Our mains were okay. Nothing that great. Finally we were asked to move inside because they needed the table for other people coming shortly. We moved inside as requested, but once inside we were asked to leave entirely. Given everything that has happened with covid shut downs, you would think a restaurant would appreciate the business. This location of State and Main clearly did not appreciate my business and made me feel unwelcome. I WILL DEFINITELY NOT BE RETURNING TO THIS LOCATION. The staff and service were absolutely disgusting. If I could rate less than 1, I would have. I am so disappointed I chose this establishment to celebrate my birthday. A HUGE MISTAKE. To others looking at this review, please do yourselves a favour and go elsewhere. This location is not worth the time of day.
