Austin Karate Academy is a wonderful school that I would 100% recommend to anyone interested in learning martial arts! One of the best things about the program is that the instructors really care about the students. It feels like a family. The kids who come to class gain confidence and discipline each lesson. As an adult starting karate, I was nervous to begin and worried about being the only grown up in class-but there were other adults and parents there and I instantly felt like part of the AKA family. If you aren't sure where to go to learn martial arts, look no farther than Austin Karate Academy!

My son and I have been going to Austin Karate Academy (AKA) for 3.5 years and love it. Master Mukherjee and the other instructors make us feel we are part of a large family. They are caring, compassionate, and dedicated in your success. For my son, learning karate at AKA has been an excellent source in teaching respect, perseverance, and dedication. I enjoy watching him train and grow as I am growing in my training there. I highly recommend AKA to individuals and families alike. Tang Soo!

My daughter loves AKA! She has been attending classes for 4+ years now and she has learned a lot during this time and we see a increase in her confidence level. Master Mukherjee is not only a great martial arts instructor, he teaches all his students strong family values, sportsmanship, good conduct and discipline. It's a very family friendly environment. Highly recommend Austin Karate Academy for all.

Enrolling our kids at Austin Karate Academy was one of the best decisions we made after moving to Austin in 2019. It is a unique place where they just not learn martial arts but also get trained to be more focused ,confident and disciplined. When the students reach advance level they are given mentorship opportunities which instills leadership qualities in them. During the pandemic Master Mukherjee continued training his students online and we are so thankful that it helped them stay physically active during that challenging phase. Thanks to Master Mukherjee,Alejandro and all other instructors of AKA.

Austin Karate Academy is amazing! Our 9 year old started two year ago in Tiny Tigers. I could not believe his focus and attention that he developed from this program. The instructors are top-notch and truly care about each and every student and each student’s success. I am happy to say, this program has given me such a great feeling…I joined! Our son moved up to the beginner’s class with me. He tells me, “Mom, I cannot wait to spar with you. I am gonna win!” Well…he has already won with AKA.

It is a great school with wonderful leadership and instructors. Our son has been an AKA student for over 4 years, and we are nothing but happy about choosing this studio. They work hard to make everyone feel welcome, safe, respected, to help their students keep working and improving themselves both physically and mentally. Definitely the best place to learn martial arts.

My son is student of Austin Karate Academy for last 11 years starting as a white belt and now he is working towards his second degree black belt. Mr Mukherjee and team are awesome. I found that along with providing great karate skills/training this institute also provides valuable life lessons which can go long way with the students. Happy to recommend.

I believe my mom left a review 4 years ago but Austin Karate Academy has only grown since then! AKA does everything it says it will and more. Discipline, confidence, self-defense, you name it, they have it. It encourages students to practice a healthy and balanced lifestyle and also instills a sense of purpose in young kids. Karate isn't only for the kiddos though, adults are welcome with open arms and there are so many exceptional parents as proof! AKA is beyond accommodating and prioritizes making everyone feel as comfortable as they can :)) Personally speaking, these past couple of years have been invaluable and I have made lifelong friends at AKA. Four years later, both my sister and I have earned our black belts while also having a tight-knight karate family within the studio that we know we can depend on! I love AKA and I'm sure you will too. Tang Soo!

My son loves Austin Karate Academy. The option for online and outside classes during the pandemic has really helped my son keep up with his forms. Mr. Mukherjee has been an excellent instructor and does a wonderful job of being firm, yet playful during his interactions with the younger crowd. Thanks for being there, AKA!

Austin karate academy has been family for us for the past 7 years. Master Mukherjee is a great instructor who not only has the expertise and experience but also is very encouraging and genuinely cares for each and every student. During this difficult time when we are dealing with this global pandemic and the center is closed, my kids and all the students of Austin Karate academy are constantly being challenged and trained under Master Mukherjee's leadership. I am honored to be a part of this incredible family and am glad I took the decision of putting both my kiddos under Master’s leadership! Thank you!

Austin Karate Academy is great place for all family members of all ages. David the master, Alejandro and all the instructors work so well with everyone and are incredibly positive and patient! 😊 They truly want to see you do your best and become better. From my son’s first day to now, he has built more confidence within himself. He loves going to class and is excited to someday help other students start their journey!

My son Archan Ray Chaudhuri has been going to AKA since 2016 as a tiny tiger. With our 6+ years relationship with AKA, it is easy to say we like it. Master Mukherjee is fair but strict and tries to instill the right set of values, which will help them in the long-run, in the kids. We have recommended AKA to many of our family friends & will continue to do so.

We've had a fantastic experience with AKA. A neighbor has been going there for several years (she is now a black belt), so we knew they were good people. Signed my 8yo son up almost a year ago, and I joined a few months ago. The instructors are fantastic -- they really push and challenge the students, but in a very respectful way, never condescending. They will particularly challenge kids who are not listening or behaving respectfully, but again will do so in a respectful way. At the beginner level, it's mostly kids (I believe that's the case at most studios) with a handful of adults, but don't be fooled into thinking it's going to be easy! They do a great job of catering to a range of skill levels in the class. As someone in his mid-40s, I get a great workout and have increased my strength, flexibility, and stamina even in just a few months. We participated in our first tournament recently, and my son (now 9) got 1st place in both of his events -- a testament to the quality of the program! The main instructor (a 3rd degree black belt) has an INCREDIBLE amount of energy and passion and really gets everyone fired up, and he knows every student by name, and greets them by name as they enter the studio. It's really remarkable, and his energy is absolutely contagious. I highly recommend AKA, for kids and adults alike. It has been a great journey learning karate with my son and being able to practice together outside of class. Several of the adults there also have kids in the studio and they joined because they've seen the quality of the program over the years. Give AKA a try, you'll love it!

I have trained at Austin Karate Academy for the past 2 years and only have great things to say about it! Master Dave, as well as all the other black belts, are very encouraging, and promote a positive environment where we grow together. You will get a workout, but the hard work pays off! I've had different people comment on how I've become more toned over time, and I find myself becoming more confident in everyday life. Proof that even in your late 30's, it's never too late to pick up martial arts!

It's long overdue (7 years lol), but I wanted to share our heartfelt appreciation for Austin Karate Academy (AKA). Mater Dave Mukherjee has created a unique, family-friendly approach that has made a lasting impact on our family. Seven years ago, our daughter with autism started her journey at AKA, and their incredible accommodation and support have been instrumental in her success. Today, she's a proud black belt! AKA's environment is unmatched—supportive, structured, and disciplined. Their instructors foster a strong sense of community, nurturing each student's potential. We've witnessed our daughter's remarkable growth in confidence, character, and resilience, which was greatly influenced by her training. If you're looking for martial arts training that positively transforms lives, look no further than AKA. Thank you, AKA, for making a difference in our daughter's life.

Both my kids have been going to Austin karate academy for the past 4+ years and it has become a weekly routine for them. The physical and mental strength along with the focus and discipline they acquired with tang soo doo under Master Dave Mukherjee, Sr instructor Alejandro and all other instructors have helped them immensely and complemented their other extra curricular activities in dance and games. If you are in Austin and you have kids, Austin karate academy is not something you would want to miss out in your kids life. Thanks AKA.

I have been a student at Austin Karate Academy for around 5 years and am now one step away from black belt. One reason I have not quit karate is the instructors' constant motivation and drive for success while still making classes fun. Unlike many other studios, AKA doesn't give the belt for students who only show up to class but instead pushes students to strive to be better, teaching persistence. Attending AKA classes has given me more strength and stamina while also helping with confidence and perseverance. The instructors not only teach the techniques required for testing, but also make sure to apply these concepts to the real world in cases of self-defense. I would certainly recommend AKA for anyone who wants to join karate.

👍👍 This is a great gym especially for the price. There is all the equipment one needs and a huge area for cardio equipment. This gym gets very busy around 5-8pm on weekdays and then is far less busy on weekends. The staff are friendly and the dressing rooms are well maintained.
