Please make sure to look at all my reviews before this one. I do not give bad reviews unless justified. This establishment has a pair of racist. I do not take that word lightly I just learned that another party also experienced the same type of racism we did On the same night I can only imagine how many other incidents have occurred that have gone unreported That’s such a shame 2 white males were openly racist to my self and multiple people from our group Money shouldn’t matter But we spent well over $600 That’s just 2 tabs We have 10 other people in our group A mixture of white black Hispanic Asian This is such a shame I hate that I even have to make this type of review Again I ask you please go back and look at my reviews I hate to leave negative reviews But when we have an experience like this what else am I supposed to do I am honestly disappointed It really does suck A pair of bar tenders/ bar backs. I spoke with multiple other employees that were no surprised by the statement As of matter a fact the seem to have agreed 1 even went as far as to say It depends how much they have drank Why is this okay? We had an amazing night up until this employees true colors showed They completely ruined our night I was excited to tell other people about this establishment until this happened I really hate this feeling I have

We were invited out for a night of karaoke in Austin with friends and visited The Common Interest for the first time. It was nestled in a shopping row and from the outside we didn't know what to expect. The tables are moderately spaced on tiered levels. There is a large kitchen and a very nice stage. The DJ booth is located right next to the bathrooms. There was only one bartender/server when we got there and she was working hard, as there were already people there, enough to fill half the place. She definitely got a tip from me. I really liked the karaoke setup that had the list on the songbooks app and you texted your name and song into the DJ. Your position was on the displays, up to 3 ppl after the current singer. We had a blast. The food was good and the alcohol wasn't too expensive. The crowd was supportive and respectful. We are looking forward to singing there again.

Common Interest is doooope. The vibe there is nice and lively. Everyone does karaoke and it’s a good time. The food is also really good and the drinks go for a good price. I’d definitely recommend this place for a great night of karaoke!

My first time here. (I'm 58 years old and i got carded at the front door.) I liked it here. Nice crowd. Very large crowd. Nice Karaoke bar with a big stage and an awesome screen. The private karaoke rooms are great! It's like small living rooms. Great sound in the private karaoke rooms. There's a big parking lot but the parking lot was full. Get there early. The Buffalo wings were delicious!!

I was at Common Interest tonight in a private room with a group of friends. I briefly went outside with a friend and when we came back I was given a hard time about my water bottle and told I had to leave. I'd already been inside over two hours. Once I was outside, my friend was told I couldn't re-enter even when I went to put my water bottle in my car. I've never been banned from anywhere, so it was pretty ridiculous, especially after I'd been there over two hours and spent money on alcohol and food. What idiots. I'm not going back

Friend got a private karaoke room for her birthday. Carley took care of us and was INCREDIBLE. The water kept coming so we could keep singing, she took food and drink orders regularly, juggled all the tabs, dodged the microphone cords like a champ, and we had plenty of warning when our time was up. Carley is amazing - keep this fabulous person around!

My first time here and I was blown away by the talent on stage for karaoke. There were novices present as well and everyone was very welcoming and supportive when on stage. Twas a night of good vibes, draft beers, good bar food (minus the Mozzarella sticks that were undercooked), and amazing singers. I was honored to be in their presence. Will visit again

Rented large private karaoke room last weekend. While we had a nice time, there are a couple areas that would make this place a blast. Air conditioning in the room was not sufficient. It was unpleasantly warm (and we were 10 people short of the maximum). One server was assigned to the entire bank of private rooms (~60 people's worth of capacity). While trying her best, she certainly could not keep up with demand. Because guests didn't want to wait for drinks, people began walking out and ordering at the bar themselves. Apparently this is discouraged and so later in the evening we were informed that our room was being cut off because the bar didn't have good visibility into how much alcohol we had consumed. I appreciate the intent here but would also suggest more staff supporting the private rooms. Suggest a water station that is self-serve, improving private room air conditioning and more waiters/waitresses. Thanks!

Amazing little sports bar that transforms into a home away from home for avid Seattle Seahawks fans on Sundays during the football season. Good food including vegetarian options, great drinks that are very affordable and excellent service! 5 stars.

Had the best time here in a private karaoke room! We had 8 people and I would say we were pushing it to maximum capacity since the room was a little smaller. Still enough spots for us all to sit though. We did have a server that brought us drinks and food and he was fun, singing along with us when he would come in to drop something off! Our reservation lasted two hours and I would say that was the perfect amount of time. Food was bar food/late night style but enjoyed it. The main stage bar area was packed when we left at 10pm on a Saturday night.

Very fun place to Karaoke with friends. Good drinks and prices, excellent talent that comes through the stage, and usually enough room to grab a table. It's tucked away in a local shopping plaza. If you like Karaoke, this is your place in Austin.

The name says so much! Most places like this have a “typical preference atmosphere” - Not here…There was such a rainbow of music, cultures, & age group all wrapped into an ambiance of FUN!!! I watched people karaoke Metálica, Destiny’s Child, Garth Brooks, & a Spanish song to name just a few.

Looking for a place of joy with an all-around amazing staff and good bites alongside a great drink? Oh and better yet a place to celebrate Seahawks on game day! This is the real deal right here.

Had an awesome time! Karaoke night showcased some great talents and I really love the private rooms!

Got a karaoke room for about 12. Worth the price, but some of the files aren't even close to timed correctly. And there's no server for the room.

Best karaoke spot in Austin. I have been coming here since I moved to Austin 10 years ago. It's popular, so if you go on a Friday or Saturday night get there early if you want to find a good table and get your name in early enough to sing without having to wait too long. Regardless, early or late, you will have a great time. The bartenders are the best around, the Dj's keep it upbeat and the crowd is always positive.

Toni's the bartender, manager, is so efficient, knowledgeable, and fun... no one can not love her. The Mac..rip, my dear friend... left an amazing Sports Collection of articles and signed jerseys and helmets to explore. I love singing Kareoke. So I go during the day in their private rooms to practice and then have get together s. Such an Iconic Place these last 36 years in Austin❣️🤩💃🕺

The bartenders are always super attentive and on top of making sure you’re taken care of here. I’ve been coming since I moved to Austin in 2021 and Ive never had a bad time. They’ve also got a super solid karaoke setup! I come often and it’s so easy to text the KJ to put in my song if I don’t want to get up and talk to them. They’re good at keeping the rotation moving. They’ve also got four private karaoke rooms that are easy to rent for a good price, I’ve had my birthday here last year and will be again. I love Common Interest and all their staff so much!

First of all as of 12 AM today is my birthday and I am SO glad I celebrated my 21st birthday here! This place is AWESOME! There's a huge music selection and it gets so fun at night. There's a lot of regulars that keep things moving along earlier in the day and then it just becomes the most chaotic loud fun ever. The food is also surprisingly really good I really suggest the chicken sandwich it was very filling! Come here if you want to genuinely have fun and hear a lot of great singers! The staff are also super sweet and super attentive despite all the people here. I will be coming back!

Bartender tonight was so rude. My friend and I opened a tab and she put our food order in wrong and made my old fashion without the simple syrup and I asked her if she could add the simple syrup and she handed me the entire bottle of simple syrup to add myself. Then right at close yelled at everyone to get out because they were closed. I absolutely love CI and will continue to come back but the bartender tonight was terrible.

We love the atmosphere. Karaoke talent comes out of the woodwork and put on a good show. On the other hand, their cocktail drinks are... not good, at all. The house cocktails fall flat and the most recent drink I had, a vodka Redbull, tasted stale and poorly mixed. Otherwise, it's easy to have a good time at CI!

I have visited a couple times and so far I have not had any bad experiences here. My first visit was late afternoon to grab some food to eat. I thanked the chef personally because the chicken sandwich was on point! The bar staff however was running a little behind since they were the only employee during a busy afternoon. Even with a rushed atmosphere they were still very friendly. I have also visited in the evening for drinks and karaoke with friends. Had a wonderful time then too.

Great karaoke and fun environment. Unfortunately ruined by extremely rude server. We had paid in advance to reserve a table so we got a prepaid gift card for reserving the space. When trying to close out on the gift card the server was extremely rude and told us she would have to get managerial approval to use it and said several unfriendly comments towards us before walking off. Never coming back here again.

Do NOT go here! It was my friend’s bachelorette and we were having a great time watching people do karaoke when one of the employees started yelling at my friend and grabbing her wrists. He kicked us out without explanation and denied aggressively grabbing my friend. It was very inappropriate and unprofessional. I wouldn’t recommend this place for any occasion!

Rented a private room for a friends birthday party. Super friendly and helpful staff cool atmosphere. Overall a great time! Just wish there was a slightly better selection of songs there was a lot we couldn’t find.

Been coming here for years and it's a good solid bar with some great caterwauling to be had! This last time, we booked a room and I've gotta say I'm impressed with the Karaoke system. It's extremely user friendly and has great control for volume and a huge library of music!

Fantastic time every time. The food is good, drinks are good, karaoke is a delight. Last time I went I had a migraine hit me suddenly and the waitress did a fantastic job getting the bill and getting out the door swiftly. Reservations were very easy to make
