I came here a couple of times for my morning matcha latte. The lady at the counter (with the nose ring and short bob hair) has been straight hostile towards me, especially this morning. If you’re the manager or owner of this place, I recommend having a talk with her about how to treat your paying customers. I didn’t see her act this way towards anyone else but me (the only black person in the store.)And nothing happened to provoke her. She messed up my order twice. For example I was very clear that I wanted oat milk and when I saw her getting ready to put dairy in my drink, I told her I asked for oat milk…very politely. Not only did she mess up the order, but she was beyond rude (hostility is the best way I can describe it) the entire time. I rarely leave reviews but this is unacceptable. This chain will never see a dime of my money again and I recommend staying away from it.

The coffee: The cortado was very mild. It didn't have any particularly strong flavors. It was light bodied, and kind of fruity. There was some chocolatey notes. Overall it was just very mild, but not necessarily milky. $4.60 for a cortado is really steep. It's definitely the most expensive cortado I have gotten. Considering the small size of the drink, I would say it's a. It unreasonable, especially factoring in the overall just mild taste. The service: The baristas are very friendly, making casual conversation with you and telling you about the different beans they use and that you can choose from. The shop: It was very spacious, with different types of seating. You can find places to eat, talk, or work with table, bar, and couch seating. I liked the modern look and feel of the place. Overall: The service and atmosphere save this place. The coffee is too bland to be memorable, and is definitely not worth the steep price. Perhaps try the tea?

I’ve been searching for the best coffee shops in Austin and this is my favorite espresso I’ve had so far. Perfect balance and pull of the espresso. The staff were friendly and took care with each order and cup of coffee they made. Small seating selection but enough parking to grab a coffee to go.

TLDR: coffee that’s both very good and very expensive. I had an iced latte. It was among some of the best I’ve had in Austin very impressed overall with it. However, after tax & tip, it was over $7, which is a *lot* to be spending on a cup of coffee. I was very happy with what I got, but doubt I’d return based on cost alone.

Very trendy coffee shop. The coffee has a unique flavor that has a nice bite to it but not bitter like some shops. There are not a lot of flavor options here so those who like their grande 5 pumps vanilla chai with two sugars and a swirl of caramel should avoid this place. My only complaint was all of our drinks were not as hot we’d like

The staff is so friendly, and the service was so fast. The coffee tastes good. There are limited power outlets and primarily for high tables if you are here to work or study. So it would be better to bring a charged laptop.

In a city of great coffee shops, it’s hard to stand out. I order the same oat milk latte everywhere I go. But this one took me straight to Flavortown. Definitely would recommend this place for a nice coffee even though it’s on the pricier side. It’s right next to a barbershop and a tacodeli. Perfect place to go on a weekday afternoon.

I might of rated this place better, but the service was horrible. Nice, but very sarcastic. I asked for a fork for this large muffin, but I guess since they thought I was Hispanic they told me I can go next door to the taco shop and ask for one. Wow...I definitely won't be back to this place again and unfortunately I gave a tip. So sad the way people act.

Rachel is without question the most inconsiderate and rude barista I’ve ever met. From constantly being upset that she actually has to work, to intentionally screwing up my order, to lying about being out of dog treats. Every day I have to encounter her is another day with petty immaturity. Houndstooth used to be a great place with awesome vibes. Unfortunately because of 1 cancerous personality like rachel, the entire place is ruined. I get that people have a bad day every now and again, but it’s a totally different ballgame when you intentionally go out of your way to be difficult, disrespectful, & rude. The 1 saving grace from this experience is the great deal of joy I feel scrolling down and viewing the other one star reviews directly pointed at rachel. Such a snob.

I love houndstooth in general, such a nice store design with some great coffee. The baristas are nice and the place is we maintained. They do have some great whole coffee to take home and some swag to buy. Definitely give it a try. I usually order their latte but their cold brew doesn't disappoint either. I'll recommend and they are in my list of top coffee spots in Austin. Give them a try

Very trendy and hip little spot. Coffee menu is basic but the coffee is good. I believe that's a good sign, no frilly drinks just good fresh coffee. The batistas are very kind and funny. I had a good time there and will be returning.

Great coffee, kind staff. They generally have 2-3 coffee options which is great if you aren't looking just for an espresso based drink, tho if you are they also have multiple espressos available as well.

Second time coming in for an espresso, this time a quad shot! Service and friendliness has been excellent both times coming in. Espresso is tasty and well made, got the single origin beans both times versus the house blend. Will have to come back to try the house blend espresso. Cool looking espresso machine, with the Houndstooth name across the back.

A cute coffee shop located in a food plaza in North Lamar. I generally go to the Houndstooth in Domain and space-wise this is not as new/comfy as the Domain one but it’s still a nice spot to hangout if you’re around. Staff are friendly and welcoming.

It was very hot yesterday. We dreamt of a refreshing icy drink. Walked into the hound tooth coffee shop in the domain. This is my 2nd visit to there. Got highly recommended blueberry iced tea And in house made peach iced tea. Friends, I'm not impressed! The blueberry tasted rancid, and I barely could taste any peaches 🍑 in my tea. Writing and hoping that the shop can keep their standards up. Thanks for reading 📚. and in house made peach iced tea.

I ordered a vanilla latte but it was very bitter and not sweet for $7.42! Unfortunately, it was after i had left the place when i took a sip so I had to go to a gas station to get some sugar!

Awesome coffee. I got an iced latte with an extra shot and it was a very good espresso pull. The staff were also extremely friendly and the service was quick. Seems like a great place to sit and do work as well but we were just passing through.

Best coffee and great baristas. You get what you pay for and I admire the reliability of Houndstooth. This is my favorite location and I think the original in Austin? Also I took a pic of someone else’s flavored latte drink cuz it’s pretty but I like Mike straight up espresso or a cortado;)
