Medak Cathedral is a true Gothic Revival marvel—its soaring 175-ft spire, vaulted soundproof roof, and massive grey stone pillars create a sense of grandeur rarely seen in India. The intricate mosaic tiles imported from Britain, Italian-crafted floors, and exquisite stained-glass windows depicting the Nativity, Crucifixion, and Ascension showcase masterful craftsmanship and attention to detail. The church balances monumental scale with spiritual intimacy, standing as both an engineering feat and an artistic treasure.

The cathedral stands majestic, with the steeple touhing the sky, surrounded by greenery on one side and an inviting atmosphere on the other.A magnificent piece of architecture. The church building was impressive and the sunlight captured the beauty of the stained- glass paintings. The cathedral was well- maintained. They have water stations but the toilets were locked and the public were not allowed to use them- certainly unacceptable since people come from far off places to the cathedral.

Literally Heaven, I'm not a Christian, but I love this place, soo calm and pleasant. What an amazing structure and great architecture. Build around 100 years ago, still looks solid. Once you come here, You will forget all the problems, just peace. Best thing, all the religious people come here, such a great a place. One suggestion is they should start providing free food, it will really help those who are in need. Medak is famous for Medak Church. Timings - 10 to 6

I visited the historic Medak Church on a Sunday and left with a heavy heart. While the architecture itself is magnificent, the experience was severely undermined by a pervasive lack of management, reverence, and respect for the sanctity of the place of worship. Disregard for Sanctity and Order: The issues began immediately upon arrival. The parking area was marred by empty alcohol bottles, setting an immediate tone of neglect. Inside the premises, I was astonished by the presence of items like coconuts placed directly in front of the Cross and cloth strips tied to plants. As this is a CSI (Protestant) church, which typically abstains from such rituals, these practices suggest a severe lack of doctrinal adherence and oversight, making one question if they are truly visiting a Protestant establishment. Lack of Decorum Inside the Church: The atmosphere inside the church was chaotic and felt less like a place of worship and more like a tourist attraction or "street." Despite clear signage stating "PHOTOGRAPHY PROHIBITED," people were openly taking selfies and photos, completely ignoring the rule. This lack of enforcement was further highlighted by commercial photographers operating just outside the premises. Furthermore, the dress code was severely neglected, with several people entering the sanctuary wearing attire highly inappropriate for a place of worship, resembling what one might see in a pub rather than a church. Conclusion: The lack of control over the environment, the intrusion of commercial activity, and the open disregard for basic respect and stated rules are deeply concerning. The physical state of the premises and the syncretic practices observed unfortunately overshadow the beauty and historical significance of this church. Urgent steps are required by the church management to enforce discipline, restore reverence, and ensure the spiritual integrity of this important site.

2-3hrs by road from Hyderabad... ample parking area is there.... nice historical church ... well maintained main structure ... can be coveted within 45mins easily ... not far from main town ... not much food options adjacent , but Gift Shop is there which sells all church decorations and related things .. photographs not allowed inside the church as in any religious place , must respect it. People do silent mini-picnic in the gardens around the church .. good place to seek peace ..

Peaceful and memorable early-morning visit to Medak Church This was my second visit to Medak Church, and this time I went along with my family. We reached on the night of the 24th and attended the special early-morning session from 3:30 AM to 8:00 AM. The atmosphere was calm, devotional, and beautifully organised, and we felt truly blessed to sit inside the historic cathedral during those quiet hours. Medak Church is one of the most well-known and historically significant churches in Telangana, famous for its stunning Gothic-style architecture and beautiful stained-glass windows that depict scenes from the life of Christ. Built in the early 1900s under Rev. Charles Walker Posnett, it still carries a strong sense of heritage and reverence even today. Overall, it was a wonderful spiritual experience for our whole family, and we were happy to capture a few photos and videos from our visit. A truly special place worth visiting again and again.

Medak Cathedral at Medak in Telangana, India, is one of the largest churches in India and has been the cathedral church of the Diocese of Medak of the Church of South India since 1947.[1] Originally built by Charles Walker Posnett British Wesleyan Methodists, it was consecrated on 25 December 1924. The cathedral is 100 ft (30 m) wide and 200 ft (61 m) long, and conforms to the Gothic Revival style. It can accommodate about 5,000 people at a time. The mosaic tiles were imported from Britain and are of six different colours. Italian masons from Bombay were engaged for laying the decorative flooring. Massive pillars built with fine-hewn and well dressed grey stone support the gallery and the whole edifice. The roof of the church is made sound-proof by means of hollow sponge material, and has an impressive style of vaulting. The surface of the vaulting has the shape of squares. The bell-tower is 175 ft (53 m) high. (It is said that when the nizam of Hyderabad discovered that the church would be higher than the Charminar, he made a vain bid to have its height reduced.

The cathedral looks impressive from the outside, but the real surprise is inside. The scale of the interiors and the ceiling work is truly grand and doesn’t translate well in photos. You have to stand inside and look up to really feel the space.

Perhaps the dirtiest church that I have seen till date. I have been to churches around the world and I have always found them quiet, clean and peaceful. This one was dirty and littered all around. I was amused to see coconut being offered to the cross. We Indians color all of them in our own ways. Like a temple, you are expected to take off your shoes before you go inside.

It's a colonial period church constructed in 1924. It has impressive gothic style architecture. As church is popular it gets crowded, crowd management can be improved a lot.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Peaceful, Majestic, and Full of History Absolutely stunning place! Medak Cathedral is not only one of the largest churches in Asia, but also one of the most beautiful. The Gothic-style architecture is impressive — the high ceilings, stained glass windows, and detailed stonework give it a grand and serene vibe. The three massive stained glass windows depicting scenes from the life of Jesus are breathtaking, especially when sunlight filters through. The atmosphere inside is peaceful, perfect for quiet reflection, whether you're religious or just appreciate historical places. The church is well maintained, and the surrounding area is clean and peaceful. It’s a great place for photography and learning about colonial-era architecture in India. 🕍 Free entry 📸 Photography allowed outside (inside usually restricted) 🛐 Best time to visit: early morning or late afternoon for good lighting Tip: There’s limited food and facilities nearby, so plan accordingly if you’re coming from a distance. Overall: A spiritual and architectural gem — worth the drive from Hyderabad for a half-day trip or weekend outing. Highly recommended for history buffs, photographers, and anyone seeking peace.
