This ancient Roman arch was built during the reign of Augustus (27BC- 14 AD). Although this date is still controversial, if it is correct, this arch would be older than the arch of Titus (Rome, 80 AD). The arch marks the northern entrance of Arausio (ancient name of the city of Orange). With a height of 19 meters it is far below the Arc de Triomphe of Paris and Titus, both of which have a height of 50 meters. When I visited it, it was in the process of restoration.

Always enjoy visiting Orange fo lunch - outside, of course! Lots of history to soak up. Seldom go in Roman Theatre - costs money :-)

Great arch just a walkable distance from the city center. Only downside is it wasn't that well contextualized and could have use more panels explaining the historical context and restoration works. Other than that, a beautiful well preserved piece of ancient Roman history with interesting engravements

Beautiful triuphal arch. There is a stand with some explanations separately. Great Gallic warrior shields shown. Also sea battle of Actium.

Perfect for an evening picnic. The arch is prettiest when lit at night.

Nothing fancy about this place. But it’s pretty, and you can listen to some nice recordings which surround the Arc.

The Arc de Triomphe in the town of Orange was built around 2000 years ago. It was restored at the beginning of the 19th century. The arch currently sits in a traffic circle away from visual obstructions. Take the time to visit and get close to admire intricate design details.

What a beautiful piece of history, the detail that remains is outstanding. There is plenty of seating around the arch . Also 2 large car parks within 30 mtrs. Situated around the arch are seats with a audio description of the history of the arch .

A 3.8🌟 An ancient Roman arch not far from the city center. A short walk is all it takes but will be worth your while as we found out. Coming upon the the arch, which stood at the center of a roundabout, you could already see that it is a piece of art which had been weathered for at least a millennia. Yet it stood tall and proud. Going closer, the detailed surface of the arch comes to light. The carvings that adorned the the walls, the arch and the whole structure still look intricate. Couldn’t help ourselves but marvelled at the structure and took lots of photos.

Nice old Roman building, the carvings are amazing. Recommended to visit early morning before it gets busy

Who knew this was here? Obviously not as breathtaking as it’s upgraded version in Paris. But you can tell this one was built by the romans celebrating their early victories on the outskirts of the Roman Empire. Worth a look and there are free chairs to sit on that tell you stories about the monument.

Well preserved. Nice pedestrian setting. Nice when seen in concert with the amphitheatre and other Roman sites in town.

Very nice calm place, even if it is on round about. You can see it even only from car and its very easyly reachible. The monument is impressive.

In a traffic circle, with lots of seating. Put it on your short list of places to visit in Orange. The arches are arch-tastic and they "arch" impressive. You'll say, "Arch you glad we went to see the Triumphal Arch in Orange?!?"

Beautifully preserved Triumphal Arc in honour of Emperor Tiberius. It is surrounded by places to sit in the shade of beautiful trees, quite useful and necessary in the heat of the Provence summer. Ample parking nearby as well as a bus stop.

Could do with an interpretation centre. Fortunately our guide was informative and entertaining. The Arc itself doesn't look 2 millennia in age! Beautiful

Genuine Roman arch. Waaay older than the one in Paris and amazing to see the sculptured depictions of battles won on land and sea. Totally worth a visit and the parking is easy and free. We arrived at about 9:30 and there were just a couple of other people there.

What else can be said about this monument than that it is absolutely breath taking. Needless to say that it is yet another instance of superior Roman architecture. It is very fortunate that this monument stood the test of time.

Could have been more impressive. The monument is in a busy round about. No restaurant or bar overlooking the monument. The parking is good and there is a small (dog) park as well. Worth a quick visit from the a7 highway but it’s not an attraction you spend lengths of time at. Pity since it has so much potential
