This facility is not well maintained by the Rivers State Ministry of Tourism. There are just a few animals to see. Their habitats are not kept tidy. The zoo guide is a nice and friendly old man. Horse ride is available Mini Playground for kids is also onsite The Ministry overseeing the facility should put I more animals, upgrade the infrastructure, partner with private investors for restaurants etc &other activities that would make the place more fun.

It's a very affordable place to take the kids for an informative and entertaining time. The issue is that the entrance is difficult to locate from the road, as far as I could see there are no proper signages Within all the old concrete tile flooring are broken and covered with algae, easy to stumble and fall All the cages are rusty and green, the labels detailing the animals rusted beyond recognition, most of the cages are empty You can't tell who works for the zoo and who is hustling you, a child going to a zoo for the first time will have fun but will soon start asking questions, an adult that brought a child won't feel relaxed, constantly worrying about your child getting tetanus from the cages or getting injured by the one πŸ’ there or the representatives of the wild birds there not to mention being kidnapped But all and all there's hope for the future of the zoo as they still get patronage but as one guy that claims to work there said, they don't know what the returns they make to those in charge are used for It's the cheapest place for horse back riding Jin the state

Beautiful sight at the Portharcourt zoo today, had the opportunity of seeing a life hunter lion(lioness) for the very first time. A peacock , Eagles, orstreach tortoise, donkey and lot more fun. The kids had the privilege to ride on a horse...it was amazing

found it very difficult to understand what going on in this place. I was thinking a zoo has to have different type of animals before it can be classified as a zoo. Well, my opinion is that the government has a lot of work to do here sooner than later before it's totally written off.

It's a shadow of what it used to be. I went there to take photos though. I wish it would go back to it's original glory.. all photos were taken on my phone.

Not much of a zoo. Good aesthetic from the outside (recently renovated). Looking more like a conservation centre. More animals should be brought in. Entry fee is ok as it attracts more people

The place has a new face lift, but the government needs to do more in terms of renovation of the cages and bringing in more animals.

I think this place should be demolished. The animals look so skinny,I don't think they're fed, the surroundings are so dirty, no sane human should go here. Total rip off

The zoo was very unkept. They're signs to use refuse dump but there's clearly no sign of one. Numerous empty cages without animals in them. The place is in total dilapidation. It was definitely disappointing to come here. I expected more. However, I was trilled by the monkeys, baboons and the everly proud peacock I saw. More would do. Hence the 2 stars.

The zoo looks deserted and unkempt. Some form of intervention is required as there are only a few birds, monkeys, tortoise and crocodiles

The only thing, anybody that has been here before, has are fond memories and nostalgia whenever this place is sighted or passed. An avenue for Tourism in Port Harcourt, but little or no interest is placed on it. Located on trans-amadi road, it can be accessed from at least 4 points, but the zoo itself has one entrance. It can be spotted from a distance due to the dense trees population in the compound. The ministry of culture and tourism should look into revamping it or else, lose it to criminal activities thereby leading to a total boycott by individuals.

Port Harcourt Zoo is only a history... It's almost out of existence... The only animals there are just an ostrich, chimpanzee, crocodile, and turtle. The place is looking so dangerous and unkept... No special animal of attraction. No lion in the zoo. And the few animals left are malnourished.

Government of Rivers State should convert this zoo to something else, since nothing is happening here. The environment is full of hoodlums. It is not wise to be here in the night. Thank God government is constructing here now

Don't waste your time and 200 naira if you're planning to go to this zoo to see exotic animals. There are none. Port Harcourt zoo is another victim of mismanagement and a failed system.

There are no animals here and there is a lot of jobs to be done here, in order to put it back in shape and make it one of the best zoo in the country. So for now I will say that it is very poor.

Children will like it for the mere sound of its a zoo, but I don't know how much of live animals are in there but I know for sure that its not d focus of the government right now nonetheless it won't be so bad to visit the zoo and get a first hand βœ‹info.

Though in the verge of dilapidation, Port Harcourt zoo still thrives, with some animals like lion, monkeys, python, tortoise and a few others still habiting in the relatively noisy environment. This still provides a quite solitude, free from Slaughter bustle and hustle.
