Letā€™s be clear, this place is NOT 5 star, by the traditional definition or colloquial implication. The room designs are very cool and the views of the water are great, providing for some cool IG pics and videos. However, infrastructure issues like spotty AC, a 15 minute walk in the wilderness to reach the hotel from the road, and a very limited breakfast menu (despite a heads up on what weā€™d like to eat) made things more difficult. Overlay this with the lack of shops and restaurants nearby and the requisite calling of a taxi whenever you want to go somewhere was challenging. It is disconcerting to have random people walk on the beach just next to your room at night as the rooms are wide open. If this had been priced like a cool boutique hotel, that would be fine, but these rooms were US$500-1500 a night.

We stayed here in September and had the most incredible few nights - itā€™s an independently owned, completely unique and individual experience. You can tell someone has thought about it and wanted to make this a relaxing, remote and unique escape in nature. It was a highlight few nights of our trip to Thailand. It isnā€™t for those that expect//need an international hotel stay experience, itā€™s very different and unique to anywhere else Iā€™ve stayed! You walk down quite a steep little trail through the jungle to get to your villa which is amazing as you feel in the middle of nature, have natural darkness and can hear the monkeys! The staff were lovely, helpful and so friendly. We had healthy and plentiful breakfasts, and a delicious fresh fish dinner for just the two of us one evening all lit by candles. Being more into the jungle, bug spray is needed - but we saw so much nature. Fire flies when walking through the jungle at night to get to our room, monkeys, lizards and as the sunset, lots of bats. There are loungers on the little stretch of beach to sunbathe and the sunsets there are absolutely incredible. You can hire a moped to explore the island very easily.

This was an experience without comparison but for all the wrong reasons. This is clearly not a 5 star hotel. Itā€™s closer to a 3 star or Airbnb type stay. As the place is a 10 min walk down a steep jungle path, once your in, itā€™s no so easy to get out. Hereā€™s what we found when we got there: -Limited WIFI -Basic food on offer (we never saw a menu) -No lunch -No trained bar staff -No bar menu (only expensive European wines by the bottle) -No laundry service -No spa -Staff with less than normal English level -ā€œPrivateā€ beach was no private. -dated ā€œDesignerā€ rooms with pictures of the owner all over the place. -None of the 30+ ā€œlife changingā€ experiences on offer which we were told about before arriving, despite asking to book them weeks in advance. When we mentioned the above, heres what happened. The owner said if we left a fake 10 star review he would give us a partial discount. This further confirmed suspicions that this is a SCAM listing with many fake reviews. We had to them spend our second day of our 2 night stay explaining to 4 separate members of the team (as there was no communication between them) why what is on offer simply doesnā€™t match what we were sold and have paid for, which was disappointing and draining. This could be a good stay if the sales pitch and pricing matched the reality. Itā€™s a isolated jungle experience with very limited services and food, drinks and things to do.

Absolutely a special place. The property was dreamy and tastefully curated for both comfort and maximum photo ops. Guillaume clearly has an eye for art which we appreciated as well. The entire staff was so lovely and it was very clear the commitment to hospitality. We especially enjoyed dinner our first night, and exploring the island with Anaisā€™s recs , and watching in our outdoor cinema when the weather wasnā€™t cooperating. It was all basically above and beyond. Thank you so much for the memories, I hope we meet again!

My wife and I stayed here on our honeymoon. It was an amazing experience. Would highly recommend to anybody who likes the beach, fresh fruit, hanging out with lizards, the sound of birds, architecture and design, and being at peace in nature. The staff are very helpful, both Anais and Axel, the proprietor Guillaume, and also the numerous local Thai who are around the place, with anything you need. Recommendations, booking taxis, whatever. The staff also have great relationships on the island so that you can enjoy unique experiences. For example, we hiked one day with a local guide they call The Jungle Man and he took us to a secret waterfall he had discovered on his farm years ago. Then after we ate and drank coconuts with his neighbor who runs a coconut farm. And they know all the best beaches you would probably otherwise overlook. The scene and location are unbeatable, you eat a delicious breakfast every morning basically alone on a calm, sandy private beach. The design as well is quite unique, every thing in each room you can tell is clearly custom handmade and there were a bunch of art pieces from all over the world scattered throughout. It is not a luxury hotel like the Four Seasons or whatever, thus not for everybody who is on ā€œvacationā€ā€¦ you are totally in the middle of nature, the only enclosed room in each villa is the bedroom (you shower outside, toilets outside, sinks outside, etc etc), thereā€™s bugs, animal noises at night, and itā€™s a trek up and down the jungle to get into and out of the hotel. But you are well taken care of and it is easily of the most unique places you can stay in the world. It was an experience both of us will treasure for the rest of our lives.

In one word: AMAZING! The whole experience was incredible. In total we stayed 5 nights in this little paradise. From the moment we entered down the jungle road (only access through a code) and saw the beautiful views we knew this is a hidden gem. Also the designs from architect Guillaume are completely unique; you have to see all the small details and use of nice materials (Guillaume told us that they created everything themselves in a period of 8 years). The staff were so lovely, very friendly and helpful. We really miss them! Every morning was a joy to go to breakfast; we also enjoyed a lot of lunches and a fresh fish dinner with candle lights. You also have a good chance to spot monkeys, lizzards and bats. We made "friends" with the monkeys and they visit us several times (two mornings we woke op with a lot of monkeys on the balcony). If you go please don't forget your bug spray (they have also natural sprays without any chemicals in it ;-).

I got a secret romantic present from my husband and end up in this amazing place. Being a picky foodies and kind of snobs about accommodation and amenities we were nicely surprised. At the first the open living room and bathroom shocked me, but later on I actually loved it and found it very nice to be closer to the nature and beautiful views and sounds. Good news that closed bedroom has two airconsšŸ˜Ž Another delight surprise was food and service. We enjoyed every meal we had by Chef Aung and Khun Nyein the quality and freshness left us absolutely satisfied. They only down for me was the jungle trail down and up. Itā€™s not that easy, and you better be in good shapešŸ˜† They tell you about this over and over before you arrive, but it is definitely true! I would definitely recommend to stay here, if you are ready to hike a bit down and up, and want just to relax and have a quiet secluded place to stay. And BTW, itā€™s not necessary for the couples, itā€™s private enough to just be on your own and enjoy time to yourself šŸ‘

A truly unique place. It is an experience all should try once. Make sure to book some of their exclusive excursions and experiences and let yourself be guided at reservation. Each guide does it only for the resort because they want to share their unique knowledge and or personal history. The island of Koh Phangan is special as itā€™s residents thai or foreigners decided to live here to have a better life so all are very passionate about their way of living. It is eye opening. An experience like I said.

My husband and I stayed at Somewhere Only We Know for 2 nights on our honeymoon. It was a picture-perfect location, with a private beach. We stayed in the Hedonist villa. Things we enjoyed: - The food is amazing! The cooks are great and very friendly. We found the breakfast to be particularly good! - The staff is very friendly - The scenery is simply stunning. The beach is beautiful, with shallow water. - Complimentary 60 minute massage upon arrival - To access the resort, you have to hike downwards for about 10 minutes. It's a cool experience, and one the resort prepared us for well in advance. If you are into that sort of thing, it can be a cool experience! Things to Improve: - Breakfast & dinner were great, however we never had lunch. We went down to the restaurant and asked for snacks or lunch and were met with blank stares. - The bed in our villa was hard as a rock (and no, I am not exaggerating). It literally didn't move when you sat on it. We reached out to the administration of the resort to see if we could do anything about this and they gave us an extra comforter and told us to sleep on that... -Upon arrival, we were added to a WhatsApp group with the administration of the resort. There is no 'front desk', therefore if we needed anything, we just had to text this group. However, do not expect a quick response. We asked a question and only received a response 4 hours later. - This is not a 5 star hotel. This was by far the most expensive hotel we chose for our honeymoon. We were looking forward to staying at this hotel, since it was not a concept we had ever experienced before. Unfortunately, we felt that, for the price we paid (over $1,500CAD per night), this was definitely not a 5 star hotel. The facilities looked like they needed a refresh, the grounds were not well taken care of, visible garbage on the property, etc.) It's hard to criticize when you're in such a picturesque location, however for that kind of money, we expected a much more luxurious stay and were extremely disappointed.
