I am an American visiting friends in The Netherlands for three weeks. Last Saturday night, my friends took my brother and I to Loetje Laren. On the way to the restaurant we drove through the beautiful lake district neighborhoods and arrived at Laren, which is one of the more exclusive villages in The Netherlands. Our reservation was at 8.30pm and when we arrived every single table was full and there were many patrons also at the bar. Loetje is known for its Biefstek (steaks) and they come in four sauce options (original, garlic, spicy and with chopped liver) and two sizes (regular and XL). I had the XL Biefstek Ossenhaas, which is the original sauce option. The sauce is like a brown gravy and is quite tasty. My brother had the Knoflook option, which is a garlic gravy (in my opinion this was the best). The meat comes medium rare to rare unless you specifically ask for it to be prepared in a different way. My steak was very thick as an XL and part of my steak was quite rare. We ordered mushrooms (which were tender and tasty), salad and fries as our sides. The steaks also come with slices of white bread which can be used to mop up the gravy that comes with the steak. For dessert, we shared the trio of chocolate. There is also a dessert of the day option as well. For many tourists this is likely not a common destination since it is a little off the beaten path; however, if you are in the mood for a great steak in a luxurious atmosphere surrounded by Dutch locals, this is an excellent option.

Just a Loetje in the former "Boerenhofstede" building. Well known menu. Something for everyone. Quite large. Friendly staff. Huge parking lot around it. It's in the city center of Laren.

Good food. However, the tables for two are too small and too close to the table next to you. The atmosphere could be better as it is not really cosy.

Beef Bali steak is the best dish I ever had in the Netherlands, the spicy gravi with sambal takes it to another level, ask for bread to enjoy the gravi. The feed is very tasty.

We found by casualty (just nearby a parking lot) a lovely Dutch restaurant, with a great variety for all tastes. The result was… I had the best Club Sandwich in The Netherlands! Also, the delicious version of the British Sticky toffee pudding, but in Dutch style 😋😁 Very friendly and attentive team staff, fair price. Definitely a place to repeat again.

We had a fantastic dinner at Loetje Laren! The food was delicious and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, making for a perfect evening out. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and will definitely be returning to Loetje Laren for another wonderful meal. Thank you to the staff for their excellent service and for making our evening so enjoyable. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great dining experience! Food was good as always ...too bad the service was absolutely not the Best..is it because of Laren..?this attitude ..

We resereved a table on christmas, we were placed in a small room on the second floor with a depressing atmosphere and a grumpy waiter. The food was mediocre to bad (the solfish was not filleted and fried to death). We will not return.

The menu lists a number of options which are seemingly vegan. Surprisingly, biefstuk 0.0 (0% vlees), is served in non-vegan gravy, which is pretty disappointing. The vegan kapsalon was nothing special too. And the waitress had to ask someone about everything.

A magnificent, incredible and wonderfully welcoming place. Even though I am English, everything was explained clearly and friendly to me. And the food is masterful. Absolutely perfect dining and excellent staff

Loved the food, though on the pricey side

The formula of Loetje is well known and also the quality of the meat. Service was good and friendly. We had to wait for 10 minutes for a table at the bar which is totally acceptable considering the place was full. The saus was a bit salty and I recommend to address this to the waiter if you don't like using too much salt....

One of the best club sandwiches in Europe. Also the welcoming staff is commendable. Doing business with a smile is becoming too rare nowadays and Loetje does make a difference. Looking forward to visiting again!

Very good food - had the spare ribs and burger - well made and tasty. Desert was really good - ice and the apple cake - chocolate pudding could have been more interesting. Staff was awesome - entertaining even. Prices were fair.

This is a big and very popular restaurant, so the atmosphere is not very cozy, and it can be hard to hear what the person you’re dining with is saying. Besides that the food that is served here is of good quality, although not very attractively presented (Butter in a plastic blister cup). This place is famous for their perfect steaks, and they are !!! Also the shrimp croquettes and “poke bowls with beef” are very good.

Great atmosphere, wonderful choice if food and beers. Best in Laren.

The steak was served medium instead of medium rare. Chicken strips were fried too long. Price a bit high for what you get.
