This is an impressive masterpiece of hydraulic engineering. Unfortunately, I missed the annual test run by a few weeks. The museum gives a good insight into Dutch hydraulic engineering over the centuries and their fight against the sea. I find all the Delta Works constructions awesome, amazing and highly impressive.

Really enjoyed our visit to this magnificent piece of engineering. The visitor centre is informative, even for non-Dutch speakers. There is a helpful movie at the start that explains the whole scheme at a high level, and then the 10-11 stopping points on the audio tour are also very informative without being overwhelming. For 2.50 per adult, it's an absolute no brainer! I hope to come again in the future for a tour and/or when the gate is being tested :)

Though the visitor center is closed due to covid-19 pandemic, a quick visit to the Maeslandkering is always impressive. It's a remarkable engineering achievement and a tribute to what the Dutch have accomplished after centuries of water defense. Please like this review if found useful. Thank you.

Very interesting Information about the storm surge barrier. Fantastic explanation by the Tour Guide. English, Dutch, German Language is not a real issue. Incredible engineering. A must see.

A marvel of technology. I did the English Tour from 13:00 to 14:00, absolutely loved it. The tour guide was patient and explained everything thoroughly. The front desk staff also helped get me a taxi (since Ubers don’t usually travel here) 10/10, would recommend!!

The staff were so friendly and helpful. My husband had learnt a lot maeslantkering in school and had never expected to actual visit many years later. There was only a Dutch tour guide who was already busy but Peter, one of the engineers took a little time out of his day to take us down to the barrier and tell us all about it. Fascinating and very informative. Thanks Peter, an experience we will never forget.

A visit to the site includes a 15-minute film, as well as a walk and a tour of the facility. A total of about 1 hour. We bought a "Keringhuis + English Tour" ticket for 4.50 euros per adult. The girl who was explaining to us is called Antonella. She is very nice and competent. The visit is worth it!

The Maeslantkering a storm surge barrier on the Nieuwe Waterweg to protect Rotterdam and Dordrecht is a true masterpiece. It is one of the largest moving structures in the world. The Keringhuis is the visitor center where information on water management and the technical details of the barrier are explained.

(Translated by Google) Very nice. The only German is a 15 minute film .... English with German subtitles. The rest only from Dutch. Is certainly very interesting if you would understand it. There is no audio guide or similar (Original) Ganz nett. Das einzige aus deutsch ist ein 15 minütiger Film.... englisch mir deutschen Untertitel. Der Rest alles nur aus holländisch. All the information is in Dutch (there's not even in English), the audioguide doesn't work and it is impossible to follow the exposition with the printed information that they give if you ask for it. I haven't learned anything, it has been a completely useless visit. If you are dutch or you understand their language it may be interesting, otherwise it is not a recommendable visit, better to see it from the outside and watch a documentary about it. (I'm not talking about the guided tour, we couldn't do it because we would have had to wait for two hours. I'm sure it has to be very interesting)

As a civil engineer this place is well worth the voyage. I called ahead and asked if they could do an English tour, which they graciously accommodated. The tour had amazing access and the guide was extremely knowledgeable with technical questions. The inside of the museum was all in Dutch so I didn't get as much out of it. To get here either take a taxi direct, or from hook of Holland which has busses.

Nice exhibition for whoever is interested in water-managing engineering ! It's possible and easy to book an English tour for just a few euros and it's really worth as the guide will translate the inside exhibition and give an outside close-up tour. Very impressive barrier, inspiring and beautiful!

(Translated by Google) This storm surge barrier is so ingenious !!! Fascinating to hear more about it. No wonder this feat of Dutch hydraulic engineering attracts visitors from all over the world. The @Maeslantkering keeps the @Rijnmond residents safe, is practical for shipping on the busy Nieuwe Waterweg and also looks beautiful. Beautiful lines as one bridge of Calatrava. Thanks for the good tour @JeroenKramer @Keringhuis @Rijkswaterstaat @ProvoyaltyZuidHolland @HoogheemraadschapDelfland. Highly recommended if you are in the area. Such an interesting place. They give a manual in English at the reception. Entry is 2.5€. Museumkaart is not valid here. Learnt a lot about the floods and how the Dutch come up with ideas to cope up with it. There is also a system where if you feed in your location (post code) it says what you do in case of a flood and your chances of flooding etc.

I never saw this kind of gate anywhere, it's truly an amazing hydraulic engineering work! I went to visit the Keringhuis an hour before the closure. It's a pity that the explanations are in dutch only, because we couldn't understand much. An English translation would help a lot! Anyway, it was worth and the employees were all very nice. At 1 there is an English guided tour so, I would suggest the non dutch speakers to go for that one.

Impressive museum about the storm surge barrier on the Nieuwe Waterweg. We had a very good tour with Jeroen, the three of us in English, because there weren't many visitors.
