Junaid al Baghdadi is a great and very well known Saint of his time in Baghdad. It is said that he was the strongest wrestler in the then kingdom. The king sent invitations throughout his kingdom offerings a very big reward for anyone who could beat Junaid. In One tournament he beat all challengers and nobody dared to fight with Junaid. One elderly person accepted the challenge to fight against Junaid and everyone was shocked because the man didn't look like he would last even a minute against Junaid. However the man insisted he would fight. Within a minute the man was sitting on Junaid 's chest and claimed the reward. Everyone was totally surprised. Junaid fell from his high status and was thrown out of the court of the king. So what happened??? How did the elderly man win against the champion? It's said that just before the fight started, the man whispered into Junaid 's ear ..... that his daughter was getting married and he had no means of paying for the event and that he was a decendant of the Holy Prophet Mohamed. So in deference to that Junaid deliberately lost the fight. For this reason God rewarded Junaid with sainthood. And he became very famous for his spiritual state.
