I had two rare medical diagnosis that I was struggling getting support for so I became super depressed and stopped eating. I begged for them to take me seriously and help me find answers but everything was about being crazy with them. They don’t take into consideration that some things have a medical cause vs a mental illness. They somehow talked me into ECT treatments but they refused to do an MRI to make sure the complaints of intense headaches were not from a serious cause. I went through 7 weeks of treatments 3 per week and I kept saying I can hear water in my head. Turns out I had a brain stem compression and the water I heard was CFS (brain fluids) trying to squeeze through a malformation because the ECT caused my cerebellum to descend down into my brainstem compressing it. I lost short and long term memory, permanently. Writing, spelling, math all gone and I can not learn it again. I have had several surgeries to correct the problem but the damage is permanent. All this ultimately destroyed any chance of a good life for me. I’m basically useless and empty of a past and I can’t retain the current. Thanks Hopkins!

I was brought to John’s Hopkins because I was found at the bus stop very dehydrated and passed out to the point the ambo and police thought I was a junkie ontop of that I was diagnosed with sepsis from another hospital that discharged me without treating me and I almost died John Hopkins treated me for it but afterwards they sent me upstairs to unit 4 I was there for a week it was horrible I was mistreated by staff because one of the employees stole my hearing aid case charger the same night that I was sent up there and for that reason I wasn’t able to wear my hearing aids and I couldn’t hear at all they were yelling at me because I was on the phone talking a little loud because I can’t hear which is beyond my control they treated me less than a human just because someone has mental issues doesn’t give the right to be treated differently iam now afraid of going to any ER for help if I seriously need it I don’t think it’s fair they send you to the behavioral unit without your acknowledgment just because you voluntarily check yourself in you can’t just leave it’s left up to the drs to decide if it’s ok for you to leave

The head of department @Pamela Collins @John Campo @Helen R. Stulman please have staff review the mission statement of the Ped's Psychiatry Department at the Hospital. My son spent almost 3wks as in patient, which was difficult for him and I. Just to receive referrals/resources that has led to a dead end before. The resources that social workers give to parents turn into a closed door. It's soo difficult on families such as myself, my son is 17yrs old and I've put in the work as a a parent that led in the wrong direction. There are children that really need the help but can't get it, parents wanting results but are led in the wrong direction or cases are overlooked. I am an educator and advocate for young children and I see the struggle in the Baltimore community. Regardless if they have health insurance, Children with mental health, need services and supports at their younger years. Hopkins have what it takes to save our youth. Therapy in schools for children with IEP's ran by fellows and clinical social workers, as a case study, billing the insurance could change the scope of things. This will bridge the gap for children with special needs. Thank you for listening.

This is the worst experience i have ever had. If I could give zero or negative stars if I could for this particular stay at John Hopkins Hospital. I ran to john Hopkins for help. I was told that me insurance wouldn't cover my stay there. I told them the truth which they already knew. i have stayed there before so I thought they would help. Long story short they sent me to franklin square between the two hospitals my phone and planner which is the little I had left was taken. when i left franklin square I realized I was missing my phone I called the security with atwater cab drivers phone franklin square hospital told me to go to Hopkins I went to Hopkins they had everything but my my phone. I sat on the floor in disbelief. Then the security got rude and eventually escorted me out. I cant contact me family, I cant trust doctors or staff at this hospital. I went to Hopkins for help they clearly don't care. i left both establishments ten times worse than I went in. I left franklin square without my planner wich was a personal fail journal. When I was at psych emergency room at John Hopkins they took my phone after allowing me to write a few numbers down. I have to adapt to my mental health issues which have worsened because of this experience. They didn't even want to feed me before sending me to another hospital even though I asked multiple times for food and was laying right next to the nurses circle desk. Maybe i should have focused more on my belongings than eating lunch.

This was such a abusive place to be in I still have trauma of how I was treated there at 11 YEARS OlD! They treated us like we were not human and threatened us multiple times I was in the kid part of it for trying kms and sh but they were just teaching about anger issues. Also as 11 YEAR OLD we had take care of the younger kids( fk 3 year old) there instead of the adults and we were isolated from the rest of the world not aloud go out side with horrible food that you couldn’t even stomach will being screamed at by the adults there It did not helped me at all it made me worse if I could vote it negative a hundred I would I still cry myself to because of my experience there.

We went here for a second opinion. It was a waste of time, money and energy. Our psychiatrist in Vienna, VA was much more helpful and able to think beyond a label that doctors put on people. Scheduling the appointment was terrible (I should have taken that as an indicator). We weren't billed until 20 months after the date of service. Not to mention the bill was incorrect. A year later and 10 calls into patient relations department, it is still not resolved. I use other services from Johns Hopkins with no issues. This department will cause a mood disorder. My advice is to look elsewhere.

instead of helping mental patient get better , help them to get back to be almost normal like you , educated & rich people , who got high salary job from schizophrenia ,mental disorder …..people. And most people with pshychiatrist sickness have no jobs ,no place to live and now they lost their phone , their belonging at the wealthy ,educated place without reimbursement

Peeps couldn’t be nicer but your ‘servicing’ of its patients is abhorrent. Hey peeps, peace love and eat pot!

What's the point of a psychiatry practice that has 0 appointments and doesn't put you on a wait list?

Worse than useless, made an appointment and drove down only to find that the appointment was never scheduled by the office coordinator. Sierra Alsup should be fired and ashamed of herself.

At the Myers 4 Mood Disorder Unit, most of the nurses, nurse assistants, and occupational therapists work together as part of the gang team and are proud of the quality of their verbally abusive care that they bring to their patients. If you have a handicapped child, do not trust these people. Human Resources is not doing anything because the supervisors are careless.

Went into their eating disorder unit back in 2016. Yes, I would have died without the intervention but the treatment itself was terrible. A lot of mental manipulation and fear mongering. You can see more of my story and message me @instafrank95 on Instagram.

👍👍 A very long time ago a colleague, thankfully, recommended Dr. FRANCIS XAVIER STRAIN III to me. I am with Mercy (Downtown) because of Dr. Strain. I am with Dr. Strain because he has been an exceptional physician and human being to me. Of course he has well-honed "hard skills". Thankfully, he has neve...
