One of the most sacred places not only in the region but in the world. A must visit site not only in the region but in Thailand. It is a Thailand tradition, there should be less number of merit boxes.

We were there as part of the city tour. There is a museum inside and it is free. It is worth a visit as it helps to feed those who loves history, and love to connect with the culture better. However, you are not allowed to take photos inside the museum.

This temple can be seen as the center of the Nakornsrithamarat civilisation. The primary Chedi in one of the oldest form of stupa situated the Buddha tooth. The temple is in great care and there is the museum in the Buddha Hall. A place you can't miss.

Namo Buddha Shakyamuni. It is said this temple and its stupa are one of most sacred in all south Thailand, holding within relics of the Lord Buddha.

This is simply a stunning temple, so peaceful and beautiful - you will be moved. Take a couple of hours to walk around, soak up the atmosphere, visit the museum and dip yourself into Thailand's past. Say prayers for loved ones, whether you are a Buddhist or other religions - love is love 🙏

Nice place to visit and pay respect if you're a Buddhist when you're already in NST. There's also a museum. I posted more photos in my FB & IG page @travelwidana

Impressive Wat with many stupa and a great collection of Buddha statues. It can get very busy with worshippers. Best time is to go early as the temperature is low and you can enjoy tranquil atmosphere on the grounds.

*It was veritably an iconic gem kind of a cultural and religious heritage! Truly an august and glorious landmark for Southern Thailand! *Locals from NST and neighbouring Thai provinces obviously gave strong and unreserved support to the temple and it's activities. In particular, crowds would throng the premises during weekends and at Buddhist religious events and ceremonies. More likely to pay homage, veneration and merit-making, less so for sight-seeing. *Apparently, the local-produce market or bazaar at one corner of the temple also attract good patronage and support.

An ancient grand temple During the time I visited, the grand pagoda was reconstructing. The serene atmosphere calmed down my mind. There were two great museums which are the source of ancient appliances, utensils and collectibles belonged to common people and also nobleman from periods of time to times. It was fascinating me and my father so much for the old big skeleton of big whale. It was my fortunatly great time to pay respect the statue of Buddha at this temple.

Oldest temple early 13th to mid-14th century CE. Suggest to wear long pants otherwise just rent the white clothes to cover for girls. Come to pray and do merit. Good luck!

Very old temple in Nakon Si Thammart District. There is alot to see and includes a museum of the district also which has some very old relics. Well worth a visit. There is a market at one end that sells Buddhist things and some balms and Thai snacks save yourself the walk not very interesting.

Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan is a true gem of Thai culture and spirituality. As soon as you step onto its grounds, you'll be in awe of the stunning architecture and the serene atmosphere. The towering chedi, adorned with intricate details and gold leaf, is a sight to behold. Inside, you'll find an array of Buddha images, relics, and beautiful murals that showcase the rich history of Buddhism in Thailand.
