I debated with myself whether I should go but the tour guide explained about their refuge status in Thailand and that this is the only way for them to make a livelihood. It's a small village, the women in all generations are mending each a kiosk of hand made scarfs or shawls, all kinds of souvenirs and trinkets. The highlight of my tour in Chiang Rai.

I regret going there. Because this village has been becoming as a tourist area by the government. And you must realize that the majority of parents are abusing their children to earn money.

Went last week, not sure whether they are real and it felt like a human zoo. One girl had a iPhone and was listening to music. The children do not go to school but work on the stalls selling their handy crafts. I felt they used this for sympathy from the tourist to buy their products. The tribe was very friendly and some very shy. It was an experience and you could where the coil round your neck for a tip. I enjoyed myself looking at all the items they where selling.

Entrance fee as of June 2023 is 300B per person. I’ve read so many articles about visiting these villages and I don’t see any harm supporting their livelihood. We had a great experience visiting their village as we did not only bought souvenirs but also bonded with the villagers. Most of them can understand basic english language so don’t hesitate to interact and say hi.

Small village near Chiang Rai. It is characterized by women with long necks...naturally there are also small stalls selling local products. A contribution of 30obat per person is required to access. It is worth it, even if we are talking about a very short visit, to get to know the local reality... you don't need to be accompanied by a guide.

A lot of souvenirs to buy. Villagers are very pleasant and are welcoming. You can take pictures of them. Prices are not firm so don’t accept the first price they offer.

Tourist trap alert! Plz avoid this place. It's 300 baht and there is only souvenir shops, no other activity, description of their culture or the way they live. So disappointed after a wonderful trip of White Temple. Save yourself time and money to visit other places.

Visited on 3rd December 2023. Entrance fee was 300 baht. Some of my tourist mates didn’t want to support such practices and it is not about the money. I had a different perspective though. After visiting them, I understand that the entrance fees are to be split with the families living in the village and any craft items sold by the individual stalls are earned by the individual families. The ladies seem proud of their tradition and can earn a keep from this village. Quite recommend to come see them for yourselves and touch the rings - they are heavy!

The village is clearly an attraction built for tourists, but you can meet long-neck Karen there in any case.

We went there but I don't recommend it, it's a circus with women and girls tortured by rings and screaming men

Nice place, but really far from Chiang Mai. And keep in mind if not part of your tour, will cost 300 baht to enter.

At first, I was wondering if it would be right to photograph these refugees from Myanmar, and then the guide informed us that this is the only way we can survive these peoples livelihood. I have even bought a handmade top and souvenir to support them. However, I have one concern, Please notice the weight of the copper rings which are displayed for demonstration at the front. The guide will explain why the rings are necessary and the rings weigh close to 6 kilograms approximately. But if you touch the ones these Karens are wearing, you will notice that they are much lighter in weight, as though made of plastic or any other lighter material. 🤔

The local there are very friendly. The kids will pose to let you take a photo of them. A very quiet and simple village. Every women there is pretty. I love the vibes there and enjoy this cultural tour, although is just walk one round of their village.

Unique experience to witness the women and children wear the brass rings around the neck. The rings are heavy! Apparently it's because historically this tribe is from the deep forests of Myanmar which has lots of big cats (ie: tigers). The women have the rings around their necks for protection. They have them placed between 4-6 years old and if there is space, another ring is added for stabilization. To balance the heavy rings on their necks, they also have rings under their kneecaps. They stay isolated because technically they're not Thai citizens They're refugees that can't work in mainstream jobs due to no visa, so tourist support is a big part of their income and way of life. Admission into the village to see the long neck tribeswomen is 300 baht. Consider buying a couple of souvenirs to support them too!

Nice people. Cheap hand made crafts. Interesting history

A truly unique experience; one that I’m still trying to process. I was hesitant to visit and whilst there we were educated on the immigration status of the villagers, we learnt about their culture, way of life, grief and loss of being away from their own country and people. Most shops sold the same items which was extremely repetitive. Having insight into the financial needs of this community we chose to purchase different souvenir items from different stalls rather than do our souvenir shopping elsewhere.

👍👍 The place is wonderful with a splendid view on the mountains. The food is not bad but the proportion are far too small!!! For the price you are charged, they really should serve you more...In my opinion this place is better to have a coffee or dessert...
